Yes, very thankful. Is this a pic from Arlington National Cemetery? You really don't grasp what freedom means until you witness someone be laid to rest there along with so very many others who have given their lives. A place I will never forget.
Yes, it is! I watched some live coverage on Fox News Thursday. Soldiers put a flag on each grave and salute it. Thousands...it's amazing and humbling to watch!
Long story short ... I had an Uncle go missing in World War II in 1944 and his remains were discovered in 2009 through DNA testing. Some of my family members, including his wife, went to Arlington for his burial there. Seeing the flyover, the folding of the flag, and the 21 gun salute, still gives me chills to this day! Then to see the tomb of the unknown soldier, the changing of the guard, along with everything else, makes me very proud to be an American and more appreciative to those who serve and have served.
Hi Betsy - definitely a day to remember and to remember all who have sacrificed their lives for us ... let's hope we can gain peace amongst men sometime in our lifetimes ... Have a peaceful day tomorrow - Hilary
When you really stop and think about their sacrifice, it's very humbling to know that a soldier gave his all. Love this country and love those soldiers!
