This little cutie isn't our usual big squirrel with the enormous
bushy tail that we call Cyril. She's small and dainty...and always
ravenous. Well, today I figured out why. She was hanging upside
down so I could see her belly and she's obvious nursing a
bunch of babies. Yep, that makes you skinny and hungry,
all right! I love her paw in the second photo....looks so much
like a human hand, doesn't it?
♥
Great photos! And lovely sunshine.
ReplyDeleteDappled sunlight...love it!
DeleteBest kind.
DeleteNow we know what Cyril has been doing in his spare time.
ReplyDeleteAnd why he had that funny smile on his face!
DeleteI would gladly trade you a few baby ducks and baby geese (lol) for baby squirrels!
ReplyDeleteMarla
Aw....I bet your babies are so cute!
DeleteThey are. Unfortunately, I've noticed a few baby ducks are already missing. There were 7 with one mommy but now there's only 5. I'm afraid the other 2 became an overnight meal for a wild animal. :(
DeleteOh, I'm sure they have! So sad....
DeleteGreat pictures! I love her acrobatics and the expression on her face in the second one. She's proving that a mama will do anything for her babies. Please, please just keep her and the babies in your yard. Lol!!
ReplyDeleteHer nest is in the neighbor's tree and she hops through the branches to our feeder...never even comes to the ground. haha. I hope they all bother Mr. Neighbor Man and not us. haha.
DeletePayback! HaHa!
DeleteI'll have to make a deal with Mama Squirrel...lol....
DeleteNo wonder Cyril was bright eyed and bushy tailed . . Mrs Squirrel looks a happy little squirrel . . . I wonder what she's cooking tonight . . lol
ReplyDelete. . and I see what you mean about the claw hand. Great photos and lots of detail.
I bet they have a cute little family up in that tree. :)
DeleteGet your ladder out and take a gander . . . haha
DeleteOh, it's way too high for a ladder to reach....they are up with the clouds!
DeleteI watch her go home and it's amazingly high!
Oh . . . . any good at climbing trees? . . . haha
DeleteNot since I was about ten! Haha
DeleteWell, you should be about five times as good at it now as you were . . . rofl
Deletewhat a great photo!
ReplyDeleteIsn't she cute? Love how she stretches across to that feeder. haha...
DeleteBless her!! She is a cutie...what have you named her Betsy?
ReplyDeleteI haven't named her! I'll have to think on that...
DeleteThe squirrels are taking over your sea
ReplyDeleteSoon you'll have 30
Then they'll multiply from there
Won't be a tree or bird feeder to spare
Too bad we don't eat squirrel soup.
DeleteThat would prevent the tree limbs from droop.
hahaha....
Could make a squirrel hat
DeleteRednecks like that
Or slippers
Deletewith little flippers...
She's an athletic mama! What a stretch she has in that second photo. And such a sweet expression with her eyes almost closed. Maybe she's praying she"ll make it!
ReplyDeleteYes, she is! I might have to move that feeder closer to the branch when the babies come to eat!
DeleteSmiling. You're probably the only person in the world who will move a bird feeder to accommodate a squirrel family. Awww!
DeleteHaha....before I saw she was a mama I was going to move them to an entirely different tree! The seeds fall and sprout in my blue garden and make a mess!
DeleteThose are great shots! I love her stretch and her expression in the second one.
ReplyDeleteShe was being so cute today. :)
DeleteOh, I'd love to see her babies. Reckon you will find them and maybe get a photo? Probably not but it would be fun.
ReplyDeleteThey live in the neighbors tree very high up! But eventually I'm sure she will bring them to our feeder when they are old enough!
DeleteTerrific photos!
ReplyDeleteHope you enjoyed lunch.
Thank you...and yes, I did! :)
DeleteAww! Betsy, one picture better then the other. She does look like a human mom, running, all skinny, trying her best for her little ones ... so so sweet! Have a wonderful weekend!
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm glad she can find food so easily in our bird feeder and doesn't have to search for it.
DeleteWhat shall we name her?
Ask Steve...tell him he can name her for me! :)
DeleteAw that's nice, Steve says thanks for letting him to chose the name :-) he suggested 'Kiki' or 'Lily' he said that you chose what you think suits her better :-) happy weekend Betsy!
DeleteOh, how fun! Kiki it will be! Thanks, Steve!
DeleteHow precious. I can't imagine nursing three, as you probably did!!! Party is over, and it's nice to be back...
ReplyDeleteLove that little hand (paw) in the second shot!!
Noooo....I offered but The Mister said I needed help feeding them or I'd loose my mind with them
Deleteand a 2 year old. haha. So bottles is the way we went with them. I nursed Taylor...can't imagine doing
that to three babies.
You were missed! But it was fun to hear about your time away and glad you had so much fun!
Pretty and all that but they clean out my feeder way too fast for my liking! I'm happy they are staying away from my feeder..but I think I would choose them over the blackbirds that are constantly chasing away other birds and raiding their nests.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I love this type of feeder...they can only eat one seed at a time and can't dump the whole contents on the ground.
DeleteShe is certainly determined to get to that feeder and with her eyes closed no less.
ReplyDeleteYep...hunger will do that...lol...I wonder how many she's eating for.
DeleteHi Betsy - ours and all our critters are dashing around here gathering what they can ... and definitely after seeing the antics ... there must be some progeny on the way! ... Yes that 'hand' is wonderful isn't it .. cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteI know...I love her little paws....so sweet.
DeleteWonderful photos Betsy.
ReplyDeleteWhy thank you, Andy!
DeleteGreat capture....
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week...
Cheers!
Linda :o)
