Winter Foyer Table

The Christmas decor is put away, so the winter look has come to
the foyer table!  A few snowy looking things....

One of my snowy trees made from pieces of
sliced pine cones....

One of my favorite old photos.
This is my great grandma Ida sledding with her two
boys, Bright and Chester.  Chester was my grandpa.
I'm guessing this photo was taken about 1924.

My collection of vintage snowflake pins.

And an old piece of ironstone from the auction trash...

And Mr. Penguin!  He didn't come out for Christmas,
mainly because it was 65 degrees. haha.

Now that it's feeling more like the season,
he's made his annual debut!

    1. Yes, they are very fragrant right now. I suppose that will
lessen as they are out in the open for weeks, though!

  2. Oh how I love your entry table, especially the cinnamon cup and penguin.
It did make me realize that I forgot all about my mini pinecones I had collected when visiting with Wanda up at Lake Tahoe.
Hubby dug them out of a cupboard for me and now I am going to do some kind of wintery display too.
I guess Christmas prep time was just too crazy for me this year.

  3. Penguin wanted to beat the heat
That kind of snow is neat
    Fine by little old me
And 8 years to go before the photo is 100 years old at your sea

  7. I love your table and that photo is awesome! Will you still be able to get auction trash now that you aren't working for them? That was a great perk!

  8. I like your collection of snowflake pins.
I bought a couple of Christmas pins at KMart this year and gave them to my grandduaghters.
I think they'd make a fun collection too.
Still love your little table in the foyer.
I don't have a foyer for my table....

    2. One was an Angel and the other was a Snowman with dangly bead legs.
He was cute on Aubrey's black pas coat.

  9. Hi Betsy - winter is coming I think ... love it that Mr Penquin has decided to appear. The snowflake pins are lovely ... and the Christmas tree is very clever. Your photo of skiing grandparents is very special .. it's so interesting to see how they dressed and the equipment they had 90 years ago ... cheers Hilary

  10. Very pretty as ever. You had un uncle named Bright? Was it Ida's maiden name or something? My family all have such ordinary names.
Except hundreds of years ago there was a Miss Fade who married into my mother's family and named her son Fade. The name was used for several generations before it fell out of use.

    1. Yes, that was his real name! He and his wife named their children Mary and Joseph, which was very amusing to our generation! hahaha... Too bad Fade faded....it's an interesting one! lol....

  13. What is this I see before me? A blackboard, sorry, a chalkboard (it is not politically correct to say blackboard in this country) with "Welcome Winter" scrawled on it? Are you heap big crazy Cherokee squaw?
Welcome winter indeed; with its frost, snow, ice, rain, cold, winds, high energy bills, gloomy overcast skies and short daylight hours. Bah! I cant wait for the steamy hot days of Summer. . . .

    1. Methinks I will have to wait a very long time for that to happen. Ha!

    2. Yes, this Cherokee/Irish girl wished for winter and welcomed it with open arms! I made this little display on my foyer table and wouldn't you know, we woke this morning to SNOW! Yes big smile here...No, I won't share! haha.
