Random Thoughts

  1. 40 degrees and rain today.  Most of the beautiful snow is gone. Sigh!
  2. I keep seeing a little quote going around social media encouraging moms to take care of themselves.  It says, "Nobody can pour from an empty cup."  Always a good reminder for me.  So today I did a very rare thing....I took a bubble bath in the middle of the day. Heaven. :)
  3. Do I get a prize for doing 7 loads of laundry today?  Well, maybe the bath was my prize. haha.
  4. Whiny people have really been getting on my nerves lately.  We all know one.  Don't be one!
  5. Nothing like brilliant afternoon sun coming into the windows to show you where the dirt is.  Oh my!
  6. Garden Girl fell over today.  I was sitting at my desk in the kitchen and heard a thud from outside.  I hope she's ok.  I didn't have the heart to go out and see and I can't see her head from the window. Shadow and Cocoa crept up to her with a worried look and looked her over.  It was almost amusing if I wasn't horrified to see her laying down.   All that soft ground from the melting snow!  The Mister and I discussed this before.  I think she needs to stand on a stone slab. He does not think that is necessary.  Going to have to go buy that slab and put her on it myself! And yes, I will do it! lol.
  7. Instagram is my new love.  Love!  There are some beautiful, funny, inspiring people all over the world and I enjoy their thoughts and photography.  If you are on there and haven't linked to me, I'd love for you to!  I don't reuse blog stuff...most photos are exclusively posted there.  Fun!
  8. Do you like the tray?  I felt like playing around in my studio this afternoon.  Haven't had the paints out in quite a while!
  9. Where did the week go?  It flew by!  Have a lovely weekend, friends.  x

  2. I love when you post before I go to sleepland :-) the tray is wonderful, love the colours and the design!! So sorry to hear about the garden girl, I hope she is ok, kind of got to use to her as well :-) and I did giggle on the 'I will do it myself' ... That sounds like me ... lol ... and I do believe you can!! I love IG. Fast, fun and lots of fun and interesting people as you said :-) My son always says a whiny boy from his class gets on his nerve! ... he seems to mind whiny people a lot .... when it crosses a line they become 'energy sucking vampires' :-( ... oh and thanks so much for the snow ❤️ happy weekend to you too Betsy!

    1. Yes, I will do it myself. The Mister is used to coming home and finding me knee deep in a project and he'll laugh and shake his head when he sees the heavy, manly things I went and bought, drug home and put together. haha. And she's ok....I made him go look when he got home. haha.

Energy sucking vampires...oh, I like that! Yes, they are! Never happy, always complaining...goodness!

I loved your snow pictures....that puppy was having a wonderful time, wasn't he?

    2. Yes he did! We all did actually :-) not that much left this morning and it's very wet but it is still white! :-)

  3. Much colder today but we did have lots of sunshine and beautiful blue skies. Yes, what was I thinking last time I cleaned the windows? Dirtied them more like!
Do you like bubble bath? I prefer bath oil. Pear and freesia is nice. Blackberry and bay is fabulous. Just 2 of my Christmas presents from the Chef.

    4. Oooh...I found it! Looks wonderful!
I found samples of all of Jo Malone's fragrances on ebay
and I just bought Blackberry and Bay and also English Pear and Freesia.
Thought I'd sample the fragrance before I splurged on the bath oil!
I'll let you know which one I like best!

  4. Well good for you for treating yourself to a bubble bath and playing in the studio. You need to do far more of that. Yay, Betsy!
Love the tray with its soft colours.
Oh no! GG has taken a tumble. I hope she and the other GG (Gargoyle Guy) are still in one piece. Literally. I remember you mentioning that she should have a slab. I'm guessing she now will. :-)
Lots of my friends are on Instagram. One of these days...

  5. Oh dear, poor Garden Girl ~ yes she should stand on a stone for extra stability but the stone should be well bedded and solid as a rock. Shame!! Please be careful lifting her onto it . . . :). Stand on the stone yourself and show her how she must stand . . . hahaha!
Shame your snow has gone ~ our's has not come yet but it is blooming cold. At least it was sunny (but cold) for most of the day and hey! I got my car back . . . yay! It was a sensor needing replacing.
7 lads of laundry . . . gosh what a busy bee. But glad you had a nice soak in the bubble bath. . . :)
    The tray is beautiful . . . rather like the painter . . . :)
    Have a lovely weekend . .

Yes, I managed the laundry, the bath and the painting. haha. I'm such a good girl, aren't I?
lol....and yes I'll show Garden Girl how to stand on the stone. Funny, she's still smiling
out there even while laying in the cold mud. lol....

    2. Yes you are a very good girl . . . lol
Tell Garden Girl that is exactly the type of gal I like . . . smiling in all weathers and never winging (lol) . . . hope she is not damaged . . .
Yes . . . I have missed my car for almost a week . . . I was thinking of borrowing some snow shoes ready for the coming snow . . don't like having cold feet . . lol

    3. winging? lol.....Is that like turning into an angel? hahaha....

      Delete
    4. Maybe . . . but I don't think angels 'whinge' (sorry spelt it wrong before) or 'strop' or 'whinny' . . . . haha.
I know you love our funny words . . :)

    10. Don't whinge about not having the word whinge... Start using it and then you will have it. Introduce it to your friends and neighbours. You'll find it very moreish. X

    11. I don't even think I can pronounce it correctly. haha...

    12. And moreish....such a good British word. I'd really get strange looks here, though. haha...

    13. Great word ~ next time The Mister is being grumpy, tell him to stop whingeing.
Just think if Shakespeare had known that word he would have re-written Hamlet:

"To whinge or not to whinge,
      That is the question!! "

      . . . lol
Seems to be a word of interest here . . . haha

Hope you are having a good day.
I am whibgeing because I am doing my year end accounts . . . :)

  7. Treating yourself is a good way to be
Have to stop and breath at one's sea
    In between the coffee drinking
Garden girl needs some stone linking
7 loads is quite a bit
I know many who would whine over it
One whined about every damn thing
Never shut her damn mouth at her wing

    1. The whining is really quite annoying!
To some blogs I stopped going.
We always have a lot of laundry
seems I do it every morning.
But my OCD doesn't like to see it sit
so I have to work on it a bit.
      haha.

    2. lol I do mine once a month at my sea
In the hamper so doesn't bother my ocd

    3. That is just not fair
as you do the once a month care.
      I do it every day
with all these men at my bay.

  8. Oh, no...not garden girl!! Hope she's ok! And a little self-pampering in the middle of the day works wonders for the soul. So I hear, anyway. And I like the tray. Don't know if I'd have the patience to paint all those petals around the edge though.

    1. She's ok....I sent the mister out to check. haha. I'd hate to have to glue her head back on.
Yep, the bath did me good....need to do that more often. And who are you kidding...you have
patience...although I can't see you painting petals. haha.

  9. I do hope Garden Girl had a soft landing. I think the best way to get things done is do them. I bring up the laundry from downstairs, put it away, and my dearest asks....Do you need any help? HaHa, yeah...about 1/2 hr. ago. He's not too observant, so I just get things done!!
I love trays and have many. I love what you did to yours. Lovely, and such nice colors.

  10. I hope that Garden Girl isn't damaged, she looks awful heavy for you to try and lift by yourself.
A bubble bath sounds wonderful, especially in the middle of a quiet day :)
Do you have a link to your Instagram posts....I must be missing it on here.
Beautiful tray, and so handy to carry your paint supplies.

  13. Hi Betsy .. I hope Garden Girl has survived in tact? It'd be desperate to lose her .. she's a part of the family now.

Whiny people ... my last post of 2015 .. mentioned this - before you do complain, ask will it help ... and remember others, I bet you are better off than they are in many ways ...

Thankfully many bloggers are positive folk, and I don't put negative things up ... what's the point - I don't want to encourage 'misery' ...

Bubble bath in the middle of the day - sounds luxurious, but you certainly deserved it after 7 loads of laundry .. take care and yes take care of you ... cheers Hilary

    1. She is part of the family! I'd bring her inside if I had to...she'd look awesome in my dining room. haha...people would think I was crazy, but I'd do it.

Yes, bloggers are wonderful for the most part...and it's easy to weed out the bad and get in a good group. So many inspiring people. And I do agree you just have to look around and count your blessings. Spreading negativity is wrong on all kinds of levels. Some people can't open their mouths without a complaint.

The bath was wonderful. I should have made a resolution to take more. Is it too late? lol....
