I guess if I were to name I gift that I have, it would be that
I love to rescue unwanted, needy and lonely things.
Yes, from cats to items at the auctions left for the trash,
I take pity on them and bring them home with me. haha.
I provide their needs, be it food and shelter or just
a run through the dishwasher (dishes, not cats!).
I have a little stash of pretty lids that I'd brought home
and when I find a jar or canister that it fits, I put them
together to create a pretty storage container.
I have more...maybe this will have to become an
ongoing series of posts...lol....
♥
Those are so cute together! Looks like they were already made for each other. Nothing like being a "rescuer" of misplaced things....Just don't get misplaced WITH them. LOL
ReplyDeleteWell, I'll try! If I go missing,
Deletesend out the posse, won't you?
They're wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI could see me doing something like that. I always feel bad for the lost and dejected too.
:0)
It's good to care for the dejected, I firmly believe that.
DeleteOh how fun! I love the way you have re-purposed these beautiful lids. I have been known to use pretty lids as paper weights. I hope you will continue to share these! Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteI have a few lids that I've weighted with plaster of paris and used as paper weights...
Deleteit's a fun project and they turn out lovely! I've given the as gifts!
p.s. I thought of a "lid" story to share with you. When my mom and dad married in 1947, she purchased her china pattern from Sears (Wembley by Harmony House). The base to the covered bowl was broken, so they sent her a new one and included the lid. So, for all these years, we've had 2 lids to the covered dish and of course, nowdays, they are quite expensive/collectible!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great story! Yes, they are collectible and pricey....how fun to have two! haha.
DeleteClever! The purple-y one is my favourite and the little bird one is adorable too. Love this idea. Might have to borrow it!
ReplyDeletePlease do! I'm sure there are lonely lids up there, too! haha....
DeleteYou are so "repurposefull" (I know not a word.....but you have such a talent for re-purposing things. I love your lid collection and how you have given them a home and a purpose. Beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to leave those lids at the auction when you know they are going to be smashed in the
Deletetrash! And it's really fun to find a bottom that fits the top! And I like your word! :)
I love the soft-hearted you, rescuing misfits, fur or porcelain, all to be loved and nurtured back to beauty....
ReplyDeleteI love your mismatched lids, so full of character.
~Jo
I love the lids, too....the old ones..transferware....I can't leave them
Deletebehind! I have an old blue willow one waiting for a suitable base.
It looks like the size of a canister! Can't wait to get that one done!
I do love your creativity. Wish I could have thought of that for a few lids that have gone to Lid Heaven..
ReplyDeleteYou have such a lovely collection.
lid heaven? lol....
DeleteClever and cute!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and yours!

DeleteYou say "I love to rescue unwanted, needy and lonely things", Well, I'm unwanted, lonely, and desperately in need! What are my chances of being collected?
ReplyDeleteI like those lids, very nice. You will soon need a bigger house for all the stuff you collect.
the chances are high! Very high! ;)

ReplyDeleteI'm chuckling at the thought of you running your rescued cats through the dishwasher. I've often wished that I had a "children washer." It would make bath time so much easier. haha
