Alex has had a rough go of it lately,...moody, short-tempered
and a tantrum on the bus last Friday was the icing on the cake.
It's hard to know what is bothering a non-verbal person,
especially when I'm not there at the moment to access
the situation. I thought maybe a day at home would be
fun, so that's what we did today!
We had gorgeous, absolutely perfect autumn weather! Wow!
We stopped by The Mister's work and picked him up
and went to McDonald's for lunch!
He loved it, of course!
And back home he's enjoyed having the run of everything!
He's had his laptop, iPad and DVD player going simultaneously.
How can they stand that? And no, they aren't playing the
same thing! hahaha....
That isn't anything new, but Spencer is the bossy one
and he gets to say what's in the DVD player. haha.
Throw Harry and Spencer's laptops
in the mix and it's a real zoo. Geesh!
in the mix and it's a real zoo. Geesh!
I can hear laughter coming from his room as I type...
it's been a good day!
♥
Very wise Mama.
ReplyDeleteWe all need a change of pace now and then to sweep the cob webs and moods away.
I'm so glad your day turned out as nice as the autumn day you posted.
Well, I try! haha...sometimes it's trial and error here. :)
DeleteHe's had a good day, so I hope we hit a reset button, so to speak.
So pleased he had a much better day and enjoyed his treat ~ hope he is ok tomorrow. Let's hope the problem was a one off, or at least infrequent. . . bless your family, Betsy . . . :)
ReplyDeleteHoping tomorrow he has a really good day. :)
DeleteYou are a good mom.
ReplyDeleteI miss hanging out with my kids
You have enough of them local....I'm sure they'd go eat a quarter pounder with you. :)
DeleteOh Betsy...what a perfect day you had!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll bet Alex will remember today for a long time...
How cool....♥️
Cheers!
Linda :o)
We'll have to do it again sometime...it's so easy when it's just one! haha,..
DeleteGiving him a break from it all
ReplyDeleteSounds like it was just what was needed at your hall
Three going all at the same time
Must be hard to figure out which system is doing which chime
Three laptops, three iPads and a DVD.
DeleteIt's no wonder I'm almost crazy! haha.
Doesn't bother them at all
here at our hall.
Glad I can close their door
and move myself to the silence I adore.
haha.
Must be a sturdy door
DeleteTo keep out that roar lol
I move to the other end of the house,
Deletedown two halls and to the kitchen, like a mouse.
lol....But if you're in the driveway outside by their room
you can hear all that noise going boom!
Good thing our neighbors love us
and don't ever make a fuss.
Smart Mom - hope things are better for Alex tomorrow! xx
ReplyDeleteMe, too! :)
DeleteSmart Mom - hope things are better for Alex tomorrow! xx
ReplyDeleteMe, three.
Deleteha.
Urgh... I don't know how this happens. Never used to. And it's only when on my mobile. Sorry! :-)
DeleteYou and Gloria....and I think she's on her phone, too!
DeleteOMG! Our Alex had a bad day on Saturday! He's also non verbal...My daughter said he did nothing but run and scream. Nothing
Deleteconsoled him. He's 7 and has severe Autism.
Hi Linda! You know the book "Alexander's No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Day?" haha. :)
DeleteIt's so hard when you don't know how to fix what's wrong, isn't it? I always feel bad when
he's gone from home and someone else needs to deal with it.
This is so special. The Autumn leaves in your picture are just to die for.
ReplyDeleteLoved all the pictures of Alex and the Mister.
Myk will always remember a time when he was home with two older sisters, he was about 8 and Don was at the church a few miles away. They called Dad and tattle tailed on Myk. Dad got on the phone and told him to ride his bike to the church. All the way Myk was sure he was going to get a good talking too, maybe even a spanking......When he got to the church...Don said "Myk ~ it must be hard having older sisters....Let's go get some ice cream. Myk has never forgotten that day. You are a good mom...and this was a good day.
I just love that story....so cute! I can see why he's always remembered it. :)
DeleteIt really was a good day. You should have seen his face when I said he was staying home this morning.
haha....priceless!
Good idea to give him a break from his usual routine. Hope it helps! Aside from having a rough patch lately, I'm sure Alex enjoyed having a day away from his brothers and getting to do what he wanted.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I think it's a wonder thing that they have each other, and then other times I can see it has it's
Deletedisadvantages....especially when one is dominate and the other two are submissive! He enjoyed being the
boss for a day...haha...although I know the tantrum didn't have anything to do with his brothers.
Looks like just the thing he needed. What a great Mom you are, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteWe all wish we could make everything better, don't we? :)
DeleteWe all have off-days. I'm glad Alex had a nice day, and I hope he is feeling better now. I'll have to try and find some nice train mags for them this week.
ReplyDeleteMe? I have bad days and even worse days now the weather is getting colder and wetter. I suffer with SAD something rotten!
The Mister gets SAD! Take Vitamin D3 every day 2000 IU's....it works wonders!
DeleteWe can't have you cranky all winter! haha.
I do, it doesn't seem to make any difference.
DeleteOver here the word "Cranky" means someone who is 'off the rails', a bit silly, an eccentric, senile, etc. . . . . . Oh, perhaps you're right, I've always been a bit of a crank!
DeleteCranky here means grumpy. :)
DeleteFunny that. We just use the grumpy to describe someone like me. "Bah! Halloween? Humbug!" See, you've got me at it already. . . . Ha!
DeleteI see Alex guarding those French fries!!! And laughter from the bedroom is the best measure of success. You did good Mom!
ReplyDeleteIt was a very nice day...makes me feel good to see him happy. Now I hope it carries on throughout the week!
DeleteHe can't stay home every day! lol...
Awww - I'm so glad Alex had a good day. Glad the Mister got to join you too!
ReplyDeleteYes, very nice he could join us.....I was surprised he had a free lunch hour...lol....
DeleteAbsolutely nice and fun pictures !!
ReplyDeletexo
We did have a fun time....seeing him smile always makes me happy, too!
DeleteI love those photos. McDonald's is getting posh looking, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteGlad the day turned out so nicely!
It was even clean! haha...yes, it was a really nice day...
DeleteFirst of all, you are a wise mama! Sometimes our kids just need some one on one time. I used to do that for my girls when they were little, but our outing usually ended up at the book store. And second of all, that photo is Awesome with a capital A!
ReplyDeleteIf it would have been Spencer, the bookstore would have been his pick! He wouldn't eat McDonalds in a million years. haha...
DeleteYou are a smart mama! And Alex looks happy to get one on one attention!
ReplyDeleteI hope the good feelings last a while....he was still smiling when he went to bed tonight. :)
DeleteAww..
DeleteAww..
DeleteLooks like he is having a great time! =)
ReplyDeleteMy son has Autism, I understand what you are going thru.
I don't think I knew about your son! Hugs....
DeleteMy son is mildly autistic, 24 years old and doing well. =)
DeleteSending hugs back!!
That's great! :)
DeleteI meant to add...my son has his "moments"..like when we went to a Food Truck Rally last Friday afternoon..he had never been to a Food Truck Rally -- and he wasnt in the mood to stay very long...
DeleteIt sounds like your change of pace day with your son worked out well.
ReplyDeleteYes, and I hope the feeling lasts! haha...
DeleteWe all have those days and breaking it up with a fun day sounds like it was just what everyone needed. And I must say that I still love McDonald's fries too. Comfort food. I hope Alex has a better day tomorrow. Hugs for everyone!
ReplyDeleteI love them, too! Alex wanted to eat some of mine...I said no! haha.
DeleteWhat a great thing to enjoy the day one on one. I hope tomorrow is another terrific day for all!
ReplyDeleteI haven't heard any bad news so far, so I hope he had a good day today!
DeleteBetsy, I hope the day out with just Mom and Dad will help. Jitka
ReplyDeleteHe sure had fun....hope the good mood lasts!
DeleteI envy how you manage to take care of care of your family.
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks, Andy...I try! I really do!
DeleteThat's a job well done! I'm glad you managed to turn his mood around. And, yes, I couldn't stand 3 things running 3 different things either. Lol lol
ReplyDeletewell, it's 7 things! Ack! a DVD, 3 iPads and 3 laptops. Amazing.
DeleteHow nice of you to see what Alex might need in an "only one" child (son) day. We all need some alone time. Pray this helped him re-adjust.
ReplyDeleteOnly one child son day...wow, that's a mouthful. lol...
DeleteHow nice of you to see what Alex might need in an "only one" child (son) day. We all need some alone time. Pray this helped him re-adjust.
ReplyDeleteThe Mister said it was nice of me, too...giving up my Monday. haha...i do love my Mondays!
DeleteBut he's really no trouble...and it was fun.
That was a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks Silver...
