Only Child Day

Alex has had a rough go of it lately,...moody, short-tempered
and a tantrum on the bus last Friday was the icing on the cake.
It's hard to know what is bothering a non-verbal person,
especially when I'm not there at the moment to access
the situation.  I thought maybe a day at home would be
fun, so that's what we did today!

We had gorgeous, absolutely perfect autumn weather!  Wow!
We stopped by The Mister's work and picked him up
and went to McDonald's for lunch!

He loved it, of course!
And back home he's enjoyed having the run of everything!
He's had his laptop, iPad and DVD player going simultaneously.
How can they stand that?  And no, they aren't playing the
same thing! hahaha....
That isn't anything new, but Spencer is the bossy one
and he gets to say what's in the DVD player. haha.
Throw Harry and Spencer's laptops
in the mix and it's a real zoo. Geesh!

I can hear laughter coming from his room as I type...
it's been a good day!

  1. Very wise Mama.
We all need a change of pace now and then to sweep the cob webs and moods away.
I'm so glad your day turned out as nice as the autumn day you posted.

He's had a good day, so I hope we hit a reset button, so to speak.

It's no wonder I'm almost crazy! haha.
      Doesn't bother them at all
      here at our hall.
Glad I can close their door
and move myself to the silence I adore.
      haha.

    3. I move to the other end of the house,
down two halls and to the kitchen, like a mouse.
lol....But if you're in the driveway outside by their room
you can hear all that noise going boom!
Good thing our neighbors love us
and don't ever make a fuss.

    3. OMG! Our Alex had a bad day on Saturday! He's also non verbal...My daughter said he did nothing but run and scream. Nothing
consoled him. He's 7 and has severe Autism.

    4. Hi Linda! You know the book "Alexander's No Good, Horrible, Very Bad Day?" haha. :)
It's so hard when you don't know how to fix what's wrong, isn't it? I always feel bad when
he's gone from home and someone else needs to deal with it.

  8. This is so special. The Autumn leaves in your picture are just to die for.

Loved all the pictures of Alex and the Mister.

Myk will always remember a time when he was home with two older sisters, he was about 8 and Don was at the church a few miles away. They called Dad and tattle tailed on Myk. Dad got on the phone and told him to ride his bike to the church. All the way Myk was sure he was going to get a good talking too, maybe even a spanking......When he got to the church...Don said "Myk ~ it must be hard having older sisters....Let's go get some ice cream. Myk has never forgotten that day. You are a good mom...and this was a good day.

It really was a good day. You should have seen his face when I said he was staying home this morning.
      haha....priceless!

  9. Good idea to give him a break from his usual routine. Hope it helps! Aside from having a rough patch lately, I'm sure Alex enjoyed having a day away from his brothers and getting to do what he wanted.

    1. Sometimes I think it's a wonder thing that they have each other, and then other times I can see it has it's
disadvantages....especially when one is dominate and the other two are submissive! He enjoyed being the
boss for a day...haha...although I know the tantrum didn't have anything to do with his brothers.

  11. We all have off-days. I'm glad Alex had a nice day, and I hope he is feeling better now. I'll have to try and find some nice train mags for them this week.

Me? I have bad days and even worse days now the weather is getting colder and wetter. I suffer with SAD something rotten!

    1. The Mister gets SAD! Take Vitamin D3 every day 2000 IU's....it works wonders!
We can't have you cranky all winter! haha.

    2. I do, it doesn't seem to make any difference.

    3. Over here the word "Cranky" means someone who is 'off the rails', a bit silly, an eccentric, senile, etc. . . . . . Oh, perhaps you're right, I've always been a bit of a crank!

    4. Funny that. We just use the grumpy to describe someone like me. "Bah! Halloween? Humbug!" See, you've got me at it already. . . . Ha!

  16. First of all, you are a wise mama! Sometimes our kids just need some one on one time. I used to do that for my girls when they were little, but our outing usually ended up at the book store. And second of all, that photo is Awesome with a capital A!
