Bundt Pan Banana Bread

My banana bread is doing double duty for dinner tonight!
First of all, it's serving as the centerpiece of the table
on top of my new "old" breadboard.

I love how huge it is...plenty of room for a large cake plate, serving
dishes and something to spread on the bread.

Since I'm serving this bread for dessert, I'm replacing
the typical butter with some homemade buttercream frosting.
See that frosting getting all melty?  The bread was still
warm when I ate it.  The cook has to test the food before
it's served, right? ha.

Yum.

Bundt Pan Banana Bread

4 ripe bananas, sliced
1 1/2 c sugar
4 eggs
1 stick of butter, melted
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Mix above ingredients in electric mixer.

In a separate bowl, sift...

3 1/2 c flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg

Add the dry ingredients to the mixer, alternating with

1/2 c buttermilk

Mix on low just until combined.

Bake at 350 in a greased bundt pan
for 55-60 minutes.  Toothpick test.

Today was cookie day and one of the older boys when he got his cookies, ask if I ever made white chocolate maccadamion (sp) cookies. I said with a smile..if you by the nuts...$15.00 at Costco.... HaHa. Beggers can't be choosers....right.. HaHaHa.

I love baking bread in a bundt pan...or tube pan. Just double any favorite sweet bread recipe and it takes about an hour to bake.

  6. So... when you cut me a piece, make it a much bigger piece, please.
This recipe just might have to replace my Aunt Dorthy's old family recipe, especially with the frosting!

  13. doesn't buttermilk just make the best baked goods? Looks beautiful. I will sometimes use my banana cake recipe instead of bread. Lighter, sweeter texture. Kind of cheating though. I want the frosting and a scoop of vanilla ice cream here!

    1. Come to think of it, I think this banana bread recipe was originally a sheet cake years ago! Then I added the buttermilk...it does make everything moist and yummy! I love your idea of the ice cream...the finishing touch!
