Around Here, Lately

  1. Salad bar dinners.
  2. Overgrown shrubs.  But no more....as I type, landscapers are taking out the old.  In a few days, it will look totally different!
  3. Reclaimed wood scraps turned flower markers.  I'm determined to learn the names of my flowers!  I want to be like Linda! ha.
  4. Kitchen sink soak before a home pedi.
  5. Lunch date.
  6. Petunias.  Yes, I do know these!

  2. Oh yummy salad bar. I've been doing salads and veggies since we got home with that basket full. Your flower signs are so perfect. I'm so bad about knowing the names of flowers and plants...Yes Linda is pro.
Time for me to give myself a pedi too.

    Loved all the pictures...Hugs.

    1. You brought home all that yummy stuff to eat! Nothing like fresh, homegrown produce!

I have happy toes now. :)

  3. Oh, Betsy, you always make me so hungry. I had to laugh at the comment about Linda. I send her emails often asking the name or care of a flower. :) I'm going to do exactly the same as you. What a cute idea and I have a garage full of old strapping. Deb

    1. She is a pro! I know the basics but not even everything growing in my yard! I also forget where I planted things, so this will help when the snow melts in the spring!

  4. That salad looks much nicer than the one I bought from ASDA tonight , , , :)
Interesting view of the front of your house which I have never seen before. Do you always fly the flag?
It will be interesting to see what the front yard looks like when the landscape gardening is completed.
Flower naming is almost like a language and I always admire gardeners who know their plants.
Were you sitting on the draining board?
Lunch date ? . . . not much sweet talking going on . . lol
    Loved the petunias . . . . :)
Lovely collection of photos . .

    1. You ate a salad? I'm impressed! But wait....were there fish and chips on the side? lol....

Yes, we always fly the flag...except during the winter when the weather is so dreadful.

    2. No F&C tonight ~ aren't I a good boy? . . . lol
Strange we don't fly Union Jacks except for very special occasions, Canada flies flag all the time as well I see. . . :)

    3. Yes, that is strange....I wonder why that is? You should start it....fly one outside your house! Pride in country, and all that stuff!

    4. It's very rare to see a Union Jack . . . yes, perhaps I should start it . . . :)

  6. What!?! You've got a spy in the neighborhood? Creepy! I had to laugh at your soaking feet picture. In the kitchen sink? Haha! I have a similar picture, but I was in the tub. You see, I have this tradition...every June I take feet pictures with a sign wishing my baby sister a Happy Birthday. I hold the sign with my toes. Lol! Why? Because she can't stand other people's feet. Doesn't want to touch them (can't blame her for that one) and doesn't want to see pictures of them. I can only imagine how she survives the summer when everyone's wearing flip flops. Haha! I'm ready.....her birthday is next week. Glad I'm not the only one who takes pictures of their feet. Can't wait to see your new shrubs.

    1. A few years ago I was sitting on the counter with my feet in the sink (fully clothed, of course) and the next door neighbor, not knowing that I was there casually strolled over and looked in the window. When our eyes met he was quite embarrassed and surprised and quickly went back to his yard. lol....what a creep! It's never happened since but Pat always teases me about it.

Too, too funny about your sister! I guess her worst nightmare would be a job in a salon giving pedicures! lol....

  7. In the kitchen sink no less.....lol Betsy I'm hoping you will stop by and say hello to Jill. She also has an autistic son and has just started blogging about her journey.

  11. Salad bar dinners..so good!
I like your flower markers. The ones I use in my garden look a little scrappy..I need to change that.
What kind of tree did you plant? Hope it's a fast growing one.

    1. The tree is a crab apple....we planted it a few years ago...right after the peek a boo....haha....it's grown very fast! :)

  14. As always, pretty photos. I could never get comfy enough to do my toes in the kitchen sink. The pictures of my trying to would be hilarious. You are very flexible! Beautiful front yard but I know you want a change. Can't wait to see the transformation.

    1. Some of our shrubs are swallowing up our walk way to the front door! haha...and the walk way has become uneven and not safe to walk on, so that will be replaced, too.

  15. I think your shrubs look great---a little trim maybe? But you know. We are giving ours the heave ho next year and many said why?

    Love Linda!

    1. Well, we do trim of course....just not in the last few weeks since we knew they were coming out. The birds nests aren't supposed to be trimmed and they are the ones hanging over the driveway and walk to the door...

Those two don't look like they're dating ... lunch is much more important .. or do they have their mobiles on and are just multi-tasking .. no talk ... cheers and enjoy the summer days .. Hilary

Feet in the kitchen sink remind me of my childhood days. I have a little footbath, somehow I couldn't visualize myself plopped in the kitchen sink...lol
