Here's what we've had for dinner lately.....
I rarely use a recipe when cooking.
It's more fun to just throw together what sounds
good and what is in the refrigerator.
When I'm at the grocery, I just make sure we
have a week's supply of meat, veggies and fruit.
Are you a recipe cook or a wing-it cook?
♥
this all looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI am a wing-it cook...
Sometimes we can eat for a whole week, without a shop!!
Enjoy your evening..
Cheers!
Linda :o)
ps...made a blueberry buttermilk breakfast cake today...just sayin'!
I knew that about you...and your dinner always sounds yummy!
DeleteI like how it lets you be creative. A skillet is a blank canvas, right? ha.
Love that breakfast cake...now that is one recipe I love to use!
Yes...I guess that is a recipe...I cannot make up baked goods out of my head...just meals!!
DeleteOh, me, too...cooking and baking are totally different!
DeleteLooks scrumptious and nutritious . . . . good healthy wholesome food, no wonder you all look so good . . . :)
ReplyDeleteBut of course!
DeleteI thought you were going to ask where the fish and chips were! haha. Sometimes we eat bad....we love a good cheese burger...and we have pizza on Sunday nights. :)
'But of course!' is my phrase . . . . lol
DeleteI was a naughty boy tonight I had 2 battered sausages and large chips with salt and vinegar but felt obliged to include a few veggies as well . . . . I feel less guilty now I did that . . haha. . . . . . and there I was thinking you were so chaste . . . little did I know . . haha
Battered sausage?????
DeleteI can't even fathom that one! hahaha!
Hi Linda . . . Well they are not battered, as if being hit by a hammer . . .
DeleteBattered sausages are rather like battered fish, that is coated with super crispy batter. Batter is a liquid mixture of one or more flours made with ground grains or soaked grains that are ground. Batters are used to prepare various foods. The literal translation is "Yummy" . . . :)
You have to earn the fattening meal, though.....one bad one a week is ok, I think...if you've been completely good all week!
DeleteYes I have been good all week . . . . it's only Tuesday . . . . . rofl
DeleteOh dear... ha.
Deletelol . . . but I'll be good for the rest of the week . . . and no fish and chips or sausages . . . :)
Deleteno you won't! :)
Deleteoh ye of little faith . . . . now look I know you think you know me, but you don't know me so well as this song called "I know him so well!" . . . lol . . . haha
Deletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Llz314l9T38
One of my all time favourites . . . . a touch sad isn't it? . . . :)
I did NOT think you meant battered...as in beaten....
DeleteWe do battered fish here.....but SAUSAGES?
They taste very nice Linda . . . . but Betsy will only let me have them once a week . . . . isn't she strict? . . . hahaha
DeleteI think we all know what battered meant, we just couldn't believe it was battered sausages. I have lived on and off in England and experienced a lot of unfamiliar food, but never have I come across a battered sausage. My arteries are closing just thinking about it! :-)
DeleteWe used to have battered spam at school sometimes.
DeleteOh Georgina...I think I would have to pass on that.
DeleteI think you are probably right. I would have too but we were always so hungry at school.
DeleteIt depends what I'm cooking. I haven't done much experimental cooking (when I use recipes) I'm more in survival mode these days and just glad when I get the food on the table in time for my 3 hungry young men! Maybe after we move and things settle down I can resume experiments? Incidentally 3 of my men are already out there! So not fair, eh? The rest of us are impatiently waiting for school to be over. June 4th (moving date) can't come soon enough!!
ReplyDeleteOh, it will be here before you know it! Yay!
DeleteI mostly wing it. But tonight, I made a salmon salad with balsamic-capers vinaigrette from the Skinny Taste Cookbook, pg 133. Love that cookbook! And the salad is delish! Of course, yours looks delish, too!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds wonderful....I would make that recipe! I love salmon!
DeleteEmailed you the recipe just now.
DeleteThank you! I have salmon and parmesan so this might happen soon!
DeleteOK, I'd be happy with any one of those meals....in fact all of them. So colorful, so healthy. Julie sent home several pieces of the BBQ Chicken we had Sunday, so tonight it BBQ Chicken, and I made a casserole of scalloped potatoes. Had to use up some potatoes, so I made a big one...more leftovers...HaHa. Will have to add a salad, since your's look so refreshing and good.
ReplyDeleteYum...your dinner sounds delish! I make big meals so we will have enough for leftovers....easy on the cook night and still yum.
DeleteThrow together is easy as can be
ReplyDeleteWho needs a recipe at any sea
I have the same thing day in day out
But that you knew about
So no recipe at all
Has ever graced my hall
That I did know
Deleteas the monotone chef takes the show.
Whatever works for you
that you should do!
Any interviews happening
as you do the job search chattering?
Nadda at the moment at my sea
DeleteDoing a bit of online work for a tiny fee
Although that can be a pain
As can raise the red flag fraud train
Not really it what so ever
But using two names on an account seems to bring about that endeavor
What we do
At our zoo lol
Online work is grand
DeleteCan do it in slippers and pajama land. ha.
Sneaky you are
with your aliases far.
I am a wing it cook unless I want to post a recipe:) Your ' wing its' look wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI always cook enough to have a few leftover meals.
Leftovers are a cooks best friend. ha.
DeleteThat avocado dip was a wing-it thing! :)
And the avocado dip is a really good wing-it! I need to make it again. The last time I made it I added sriracha mayo which was good too. Betsy, keep the wing-its coming. :)
DeleteThese meals look delish! I am not really much of a cook but most of the time I wing it. I remember saying to friends, "I have nothing to eat, let's go out." They would rummage around for a bit and create a great meal. I was always so impressed. Yours are so colourful, too - they say we eat with our eyes!
ReplyDeleteIt almost sounds like a tv food cooking show, doesn't it? Scrounge in the cupboards and create a delicious meal!
DeleteIt does!
Delete"Scrounge 'n' Serve"
ReplyDeleteSo happy that Peaches came by!!!!!
DeleteI'm always looking up recipes on the Internet for inspiration. Sometimes I follow them, sometimes I don't
ReplyDeleteI have made a lot of recipes on the internet that were just so-so. Pictures can be so deceiving. ha.
DeleteWell, I wing it, but it sure doesn't look as good as yours. I won't be posting my dinner on my blog anytime soon. Ha!
ReplyDeleteLOL. Me neither. The few times I have it looks far worse than it tastes.
Deleteblessings, jill
You ladies are silly....I bet you both serve up some yummy dinners!
DeleteWing it comes from watching family prepare meals. Now I improvise. :)
ReplyDeleteImprovisation is very fun in the kitchen!
DeleteIt is after midnight and you are making me hungry. My mom would call that...stew got's. Making dinner out of whatever 'she got's'.
ReplyDeleteblessings, jill
Anytime I'm up after midnight I'm starving....like I could eat a whole other meal. haha.
DeleteI'm a winger, too, Betsy. Just depends on what looks good at the grocery when I go. ;) I would enjoy everyone of these meals! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteExactly....I love to see what's at the grocery and what looks yummy.
DeleteThere is no shortage of color at your dinner table.
ReplyDeleteVery appealing and I'm sure D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S!
Happy to know that Peaches came back!!!
DeleteMe, too! Very. :)
DeleteI'm definitely a wing-it cook - but with a great deal less flair than you achieve. I learn from you!
ReplyDeleteYou need to post some yummy meals. I'd love to see them. I think food is so fun to photograph!
