Welcome, Spring!

Spring is making an appearance, although very slowly, here in Ohio!
We have cold drizzly rain instead of snow
and the temperatures still dip in the 20's during the night.

But some of us look like they'd rather settle down for
one more long winter's nap!

    1. The first day of spring here bloomed bright and sunny, after the eclipse. That nasty cold wind had vanished overnight and the sunshine was lovely and warm. It was really pleasant to be out and about. I'm hoping there will be no more of that terrible white stuff all over the place now.

    2. No, I wouldn't! ha!

Lucky you with a warm sunny first day of spring! We're grey, rainy and chilly! I'm staying inside!

    1. Isn't he sweet? He kept trying to sleep and then he'd have to look up at birds chirping in the feeder above him.

  3. Awww - look at that sweet Slate - such contentment. I am about to have a nap too. Just got back from a lovely lunch with a friend. Sat outside in the sun for a while just soaking it in. Beautiful day here. Happy Friday and HAPPY SPRING! xo

    1. He is such a sweet cat...the perfect cat. I never think of his tail as striped like that until I saw it here in this photo!

    2. Okay, I'm glad you said that because I thought I was seeing things!

  4. Well shame on Keith... I sure saw his mean side...HaHa.."Boo" and wake that beauty up from a "cat nap",
I love your little sign "Blue Iris". The one bulb that made it in my pot is getting taller each day. Don't know it I'll get a bloom this year...but sure bet I do next Spring.

My friend that reminds me of you as she cares for ferrel cats, just had one jump off the top of the Cat Tree in her house and broke a hip. Now she's caring for Yoda, and his hip surgery. I love how both of you love and care for your cats.

    1. A cat with hip surgery...oh my!

I'll just bet your iris blooms this year! What color is it? I know you'll take pics if it does!

    2. Wanda - When I lie on the couch for a well earned rest and drop off to sleep, my cat Dinky takes a run across the room, leaps high into the air and lands on my chest. Frightens the hell out of me, and she thinks it's funny. No doubt you do too. . . . Well, I suppose it is really. Ha!

    3. Does she knead your skin with her claws and turn in circles before settling down?

      Delete
    4. Yes, and then positions herself so we drop off to sleep cheek-to-cheek.

    5. HaHaHa...Keith....I love your cat..hope he learns to say BOO as he leaps on your chest.....Just kidding...I'm really not mean.

    6. Our Molly Girl loves to lay on Don's chest when he sleeps.

  5. I hadn't realized Slate's tail makes him a two-toned cat. What a priceless photo! He looks like he's meditating. Several mornings ago I was awakened by some horrific screaming from a feral cat. It was being pursued by a coyote who was slinking down my sidewalk bold as brass. I knocked on my window as hard as I could and startled him, but i'm afraid he had already done some real damage to that poor cat. Lynne in NC

    1. Oh, poor kitty...that makes me sad.

That is the underside of Slates tail....I don't even notice that as he's around here...it really shows up in this photo, though. He's just full of surprises! :)

    2. Maybe it's because his tail is usually straight up and he's wagging it like a dog! haha.

  6. He looks ready to go back to a cave
    While spring can rave
    Needing a cat nap
    Maybe in a lap
And we still have mountains of snow
Sucks big time for parking don't you know

    1. When you're cold a cat in the lap is the best
A nice warm heater from the furry guest.
More snow should be coming your way
after it hits the New England bay!

  7. Ooh he's such a handsome boy, and yes, as Lynn pointed out Slate's tail makes him look so unique, and beautiful.
Spring has indeed sprung, but no sunshine here today ;)

    1. I have terrible spring allergies...they haven't hit yet up here, though. Zertec is a good nondrowsy one....have you tried it? I also love NasalCrom and sometimes use them together on really bad days. Not looking forward to the blooms and pollen...ugh! Some days I can't even wear my contacts.

    2. I normally use Zyrtec, but ran out and the only thing I had in the house was Benadryl. That junk knocks my lights out. I've never tried NasalCrom....I'll have to pick up some of that, too. I am surrounded by pine trees. Pine pollen for me is the worst.

  15. I adore that kitty cat, I would lure him or her into our home, feed him a sumptuous feast and have a warm blanky and box with he or she to settle down to a nice long kitteh cat nap, our kitchen is always warm and food is at the ready, he or she is absolutely gorgeous, he or she looks like they could use some nutritious goodies and water..Bless you for feeding and helping those kitteh cats, love your blog, happy Passover and happy easter, warmest year in the pacific northwest since 1957 and in our state of Washington 1956 in our area, no snowpack so ski areas and the many who rely upon employment in the ski areas got skunked out of any income, farmers and growers will have a tough tough time of it for crops it has affected people too, going a little nuts as I see it! The green that is usually here 264 days of the year is gone, tulips are pushing rhru a month early and the daffodils are nearly spent, so hot...I pray for the many who are to be affected by the humidity and heat in the coming months, I have only used our dryer a few times and sip my tea and crackers (bread I make) after I hang up our clothes to dry in our garage and outdoors since sept 2014! Have a wonderful holiday, peace and love to you and your 4 men, ciao!

      Take a look here... http://myfivemen.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-slate-makeover.html

I hope your area gets some reprieve from the heat and some much needed rain! We had colder than normal temps this winter and extra snow!
