Resident Robin

I stepped out on the back porch this week and my resident Robin
flew out of the tree, landed a couple of yards away and struck up
a conversation!  I couldn't believe it!  That's a first!
He was still there when I slipped into the house for a handful
of dried cherries and my camera.  The closer I dropped the
treats, the closer he hopped, chirping a 'Thanks, Betsy'
with each one.  When he ate the last one, away he went.
That was the sweetest thing that happened to me this week!

I'm linking up with Anni and other birders.

    2. Yes, you JUST got him in frame . . . very well done . . . . it is a beaut and quite frankly I have never seen a photo of a Robin with wings fully out stretched like that, or any small bird come to think of it. I can almost feel the downdraught . . . I bet your bird friends are impressed . . . :)

  6. That is a marvelous shot. I have heard and seen a photo of 5 robins somewhere in Iowa. We don't have any hanging around to skate on our ice rink. The cherries was probably one of the robins favorite. Start calling you the bird whisperer.

    1. Well, I take lots of bad shots that never get shared.....you just have to keep at it and then you get some good ones! Lots of mine are taken through the window, too...not this one, but many others!

    2. Do you use a tripod at all?

  17. Hi Betsy - thanks for stopping by this evening - I just love Deb! Fabulous shot of the robin in flight - it's hard to catch a bird like that. I also love the female cardinal in your header - I always think they are much prettier and softer-looking than the brighter males! If I dig my DSLR out I might have a chance to get flying birds - I do use it in Africa on safari and have managed to get some great bird pics with movement, but here at home I usually just grab my point and shoot to use through the window!!

We have another ice storm on the way early tomorrow - what a winter here in the south - will it ever end?
Happy weekend - nice to meet you.
    Mary. . . . . . in chilly North Carolina

P.S. I have a friend in England who trained a robin to come and eat out of a dish in her hand - every day when she went to the stable to feed her horses the robin showed up - how cute is that!
