A Little Kindness Inspiration

My Random Acts of Kindness 2015 Adventure begins next
Friday, February 13th!  If you want more information click on the
little invitation on my sidebar.  Basically, once a week you are to
do a kindness for someone then post about
it on your blog on Friday and link back here so we can all
share and be inspired.  They can be little or big, cost nothing
or as much as you want.  Some will be spontaneous and some
might take a little planning.  Here are a few ideas and photos
I found on Pinterest using RAK as a search.

  1. Take a treat to take to the workers at your next appointment.
  2. Tape 4 quarters to a vending machine with a note ~ "Have a drink on me.  Kindness is contagious!  Pass it on!".
  3. Shovel your neighbor's driveway.
  4. Help an elderly person load their groceries in their car.
  5. Buy a cheap $2 umbrella to carry with you to give away to the next person you see caught in a shower.
  6. Give a 100% tip next time you eat out.
  7. Choose a 'needy' family in your neighborhood who might appreciate a gift basket.  You can present it to them yourself or leave it on the porch and run!
  8. Leave a little gift in your mail box for the mail man.
  9. Next time you bake, make double and give half away.
  10. Pay It Forward next time you go through a fast food drive-thru.
  11. Run out on trash day with hot cocoa for the trash man.  Double the cup and zap it in the microwave at the last minute for extra heat and insulation.
  12. Let another car merge in front of you.
  13. Be grateful without complaint.
  14. Buy an extra coffee to take to your coworker.
  15. Make eye contact and smile.
  16. Leave a dollar and a note in a library book or waiting room magazine for the next person.
  17. Pay a compliment to someone.
  18. Offer a couple of hours of free babysitting to someone.
  19. Be a designated driver.
  20. Pick up litter and throw it away.
  21. Adopt a pet from a shelter.
  22. In bad weather, ask an elderly neighbor if you can pick up a few things for them while you are out.
  23. Buy coffee for the person behind you.
  24. Next time you see a homeless person, go pick up a meal through a drive-thru and circle back and drop it off to them.
  25. Leave a little bag of chocolate and a note under a stranger's windshield wiper.
  26. See if your local nursing home would like a visit from you and your dog to cheer up the residents.
  27. Go a full day without saying anything negative.

Are you inspired?
Do at least one RAK this coming week.
See you here next Friday for our first link up!

Also, if you want to see last year's RAK Adventure,
I've added it to my label cloud at the bottom of my blog!

  1. This is just the sweetest idea....
I try and do random acts of kindness as often as possible, doing so just makes you feel more human.
The ideas are perfect, in a world of "me. me, me" these are a refreshingly simple way to offer a little sunshine into a fellow-man's day.
You are such a sweetie !

  2. Today I gave my new boss a dark blue thick cashmere jumper I have had in my chest of drawers since 1991 (2nd hand then). It is still almost as good as new. Our office has been SO cold this week and mysteriously he doesn't seem to own any proper woolies so I brought this in today. The jumper sat on the side for a few hours and then I heard it being pulled on (I sit with my back to him). I think he was really pleased because he was still wearing it when I left for home. I am very pleased too because I never wear it - never wear blue - but could not bear to get rid of such a wonderful jumper. This was really random because I was searching for my thick arran cardi and had quite forgotten I still owned the jumper.
I may find other things to do in the coming weeks but I bet I won't beat you for what I guess will be your many kindnesses.

    1. What a lovely thing to do and I can tell it warmed your heart just as much as it did his! I love this story! A perfect example of showing kindness...it didn't cost a penny but is priceless all the same! Thanks for sharing...this made my day! I hope you join in Georgina...you have the heart to spread kindness and I want others to be inspired by you!

    2. I have a feeling there may be other stuff in the chest of drawers related donations in the weeks to come. You just need to choose your gift and match it up with the right person.

    3. I agree....what a great idea! We all have things in our homes that we aren't using and others need them! It's a win/win...they get something they need and you clean out!

    1. I like the spontaneous ones, too! Just being on the lookout and noticing what could be done! Then the ones that are planned are great, too...Some of them if you have the idea and have your note, treat, or money ready to go, then you're ready for anything!

  4. I enjoyed the little things I did last year and I always try to be on the lookout to do more. One thing I have done in the past is to buy a full subscription to the opera for a student. I like being able to expose them to the art form and they think it's very special to attend.

That, of course, is a bigger one. But little ones are so great too. I live in a very popular tourist area of Toronto and I always notice people looking slightly lost on the streets before they actually reach the area. So I will stop and ask if they need assistance and inevitably that's what they are searching for, so I give directions or walk them there myself if I'm heading home. Free and easy-peasy.

    1. I like that...just being aware of who might be around you when you're out and about! It's so easy to have an agenda and not even look at another person while we are scurrying around. If we just look, there is always something that can be done!

  6. All very goods ideas!
We sometimes need reminders....and slow down and think of others.I like to give "just because" gifts. :)
People around us might be having a hard time or "bad" day. It is always a kind thing, to smile and give a cheerful greeting.

    1. I like those ideas a lot. A greeting and a smile really is a kind thing and many people don't do it. I always do and I'm amazed at how many people I can't even make eye contact with! They just won't acknowledge someone is a foot away from them! haha. Love the unexpected gift, idea, too....so fun!
