This And That

  1. Pretty in pink and in the shop.  Love this.
  2. Ahi tuna steak dinner.  One of our favorites.
  3. Starlings.  Almost had my own murmuration!
  4. Mr. Cardinal.  He was winking at me through the window!
  5. Socks, came home late New Year's Eve after being gone three days.  Looks like he was injured or in a fight.  I've been nursemaid this week.  He must have heard me say he should go to the vet because this morning he disappeared. ha.  And guess who just showed up tonight after the vet is closed!  Smart kitty.
  6. Blue Jay waiting for Shadow, the mighty bird hunter, to leave the area. ha.
  7. Breakfast.

  3. Sounds like Socks is pretty smart when he heard the word VET. Love all your this and that...Dinner looks so good! We had a interesting New Years Day...I just posted about it.

  4. Hasn't socks got a notched ear yet? He shouldn't be out pickin' fights or courtin' the lady cats. Or maybe they snipped the poor guy's ear and forgot to do the snippin' he was really brought in for...
Your photos are stunning. Love that shot of the winking cardinal.
    :0)

    1. haha..yes, his ear is notched...and other things. I don't think he picked the fight...but I'm glad he got away. Maybe something bigger than a cat...he has two abscesses on his back...they were really yucky over new years but not life threatening, so I didn't spring an emergency/holiday vet bill. Now it's the weekend...so maybe by Monday I won't have to take him at all. Maybe Dr. DooLittle will be good enough...hope so!

  5. Nice shots all round.
Cardinal looks a bit stern . . . . looks as though he has just missed out on the Pope job . . . well if he was winking at you he stood no chance. . . . lol
The tuna steak dinner looks as though it won't be there much longer ~ delish I would imagine. . . . :)

    Glad socks is ok

    1. Oh, he has more than a chance....he's been around for years now and always looks at me through the window and puts on his best charming 'come hither' looks. haha. It's hopeless...I was smitten long ago. lol...

    2. Perhaps he is cross that you are not a Cardinal or he is not a human . . . . rofl

  6. Pink Depression is my favorite!

(as opposed to black depression) LOL!! :)

The Blue Jay looks so pretty amidst the crab apples!

    1. Oh, I think we all would agree that is you have to have depression, pink is better than black! lol! ...oh, you are too funny!

    2. Haha that just popped into my mind as I typed the 'Pink' comment. Unfortunately I have experienced the black variety a time or two :( but thankfully never for long periods of time.

  7. Betsy, what camera did you take the starling picture with? It's so clear...love these photos! I'm glad socks is home too... I have cleaned a few wounds myself, our emergency vet is wonderful, but I too hold off if possible. Bugsy is rather hairless underneath and gets skin stuff frequently...we'd be broke if we took him to the vet all the time. Buster used to feign injury when he was tired. I carried that dog from the park many times only to have him run up the stairs to get a toy when we got home. I loved him for that too! Ha!

    1. It's my Nikon D3200 set on the automatic action setting. :)

Thanks about Socks...we've had a few wounds here with 14 kitties. I don't hesitate to take them if I think they really need it, but sometimes you can take care of things yourself. Love the story of Buster....that is hilarious. What a personality he was! :)

  8. Wow, that is a ton of birds in the sky
The cats must have been licking their lips and ready to fly
Smart cat to avoid the vet trip
As just a few hours ago Orlin gave me lip
As off he had to go
An hour waiting and 162 bucks don't you know lol

    1. But he did poop on the vet
      Payback was met

    2. Orlin seems to do that often to the vet.
They mark it in his file, I bet. haha.
Hope it was just a checkup and not a sick cat
and hope he's feeling wonderful, in fact!

  9. I love the blue-jay photo. It's gorgeous. It can't be as cold as it is here or Socks would not have been away for three days. It is not fit for any house-cat to be outside tonight. I hope he feels better soon. Deb

  13. As I mentioned on FB the cardinal looks like a lovely fascinator hat on Garden Girl. So glad you posted it here too.
Socks looks mighty fine in that photo with his paws tucked cosily underneath. I rather like his stance under the ship!
That starlings shot is fabulous - wow.
And that sweet pink cloche is definitely whispering to me...

    2. If she was inside, I could have a lot of fun bring home old hats from the auctions and change them up on her every now and then like some used to do with their cement gooses. haha.

  14. Hi Betsy - the tuna steak looks good and it's still early here - sad really!! Fantastic shots .. and the cardinal is just carminely brilliant - I'm sure he's scarlet brilliant ... a murmuration of starlings can only be good ... and Socks .. he looks a little tentative ... sure hope he improves during the weekend ... Happy last few days of holiday time ... and then the best 2015 possible .. cheers and with thoughts - Hilary

  16. Your little warrior Socks returns from the Cat Wars, triumphant, but wounded in his efforts to protect the honor of his beloved mistress and what does he get? Praise, or a chunk of tuna for his dinner? No! Instead he gets threatened with a visit to the vet! Shame. . . .

Love the Pinky Thing, whatever it is. I'll put it on my wish list for my birthday.

    3. Oh, and an evil grin at that! haha. That is so weird, Suzie, because for some reason this morning as I was just waking up a thought came to me that I wasn't sure when your birthday way. Then I thought, 'No problem...facebook will tell me when it comes!' Wow...and then it's tomorrow. That is some kind of premonition!
