- Pretty in pink and in the shop. Love this.
- Ahi tuna steak dinner. One of our favorites.
- Starlings. Almost had my own murmuration!
- Mr. Cardinal. He was winking at me through the window!
- Socks, came home late New Year's Eve after being gone three days. Looks like he was injured or in a fight. I've been nursemaid this week. He must have heard me say he should go to the vet because this morning he disappeared. ha. And guess who just showed up tonight after the vet is closed! Smart kitty.
- Blue Jay waiting for Shadow, the mighty bird hunter, to leave the area. ha.
- Breakfast.
I'm linking up with I'd Rather B Birdin' today.

Glad Socks came home and hope he heals soon. Great photos of Mr. Cardinal and the blue jay. He looks like a flirter : )
ReplyDeleteyeah, poor Socks...he's a bit better today, though....
DeleteYour shot of the Cardinal is just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThey are SO photogenic, aren't they? :)
DeleteSounds like Socks is pretty smart when he heard the word VET. Love all your this and that...Dinner looks so good! We had a interesting New Years Day...I just posted about it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be right over to check out your post!
DeleteHasn't socks got a notched ear yet? He shouldn't be out pickin' fights or courtin' the lady cats. Or maybe they snipped the poor guy's ear and forgot to do the snippin' he was really brought in for...
ReplyDeleteYour photos are stunning. Love that shot of the winking cardinal.
:0)
haha..yes, his ear is notched...and other things. I don't think he picked the fight...but I'm glad he got away. Maybe something bigger than a cat...he has two abscesses on his back...they were really yucky over new years but not life threatening, so I didn't spring an emergency/holiday vet bill. Now it's the weekend...so maybe by Monday I won't have to take him at all. Maybe Dr. DooLittle will be good enough...hope so!
DeleteNice shots all round.
ReplyDeleteCardinal looks a bit stern . . . . looks as though he has just missed out on the Pope job . . . well if he was winking at you he stood no chance. . . . lol
The tuna steak dinner looks as though it won't be there much longer ~ delish I would imagine. . . . :)
Glad socks is ok
Oh, he has more than a chance....he's been around for years now and always looks at me through the window and puts on his best charming 'come hither' looks. haha. It's hopeless...I was smitten long ago. lol...
DeletePerhaps he is cross that you are not a Cardinal or he is not a human . . . . rofl
DeleteOh, I think he's happy with things just the way they are! :)
DeleteYes . . . . guess so . . . . lol
DeletePink Depression is my favorite!
ReplyDelete(as opposed to black depression) LOL!! :)
The Blue Jay looks so pretty amidst the crab apples!
Oh, I think we all would agree that is you have to have depression, pink is better than black! lol! ...oh, you are too funny!
DeleteHaha that just popped into my mind as I typed the 'Pink' comment. Unfortunately I have experienced the black variety a time or two :( but thankfully never for long periods of time.
Deleteyes...thank goodness it didn't last long!
DeleteBetsy, what camera did you take the starling picture with? It's so clear...love these photos! I'm glad socks is home too... I have cleaned a few wounds myself, our emergency vet is wonderful, but I too hold off if possible. Bugsy is rather hairless underneath and gets skin stuff frequently...we'd be broke if we took him to the vet all the time. Buster used to feign injury when he was tired. I carried that dog from the park many times only to have him run up the stairs to get a toy when we got home. I loved him for that too! Ha!
ReplyDeleteIt's my Nikon D3200 set on the automatic action setting. :)
DeleteThanks about Socks...we've had a few wounds here with 14 kitties. I don't hesitate to take them if I think they really need it, but sometimes you can take care of things yourself. Love the story of Buster....that is hilarious. What a personality he was! :)
Wow, that is a ton of birds in the sky
ReplyDeleteThe cats must have been licking their lips and ready to fly
Smart cat to avoid the vet trip
As just a few hours ago Orlin gave me lip
As off he had to go
An hour waiting and 162 bucks don't you know lol
But he did poop on the vet
DeletePayback was met
Orlin seems to do that often to the vet.
DeleteThey mark it in his file, I bet. haha.
Hope it was just a checkup and not a sick cat
and hope he's feeling wonderful, in fact!
Nope, had issues indeed
DeleteSteriod shot, abx and flea treatment at our feed
Got into something at the other sea
Most likely caught a flea
Ugh...Merry Christmas to you
Deletefrom Nanny's Zoo. ha.
I love the blue-jay photo. It's gorgeous. It can't be as cold as it is here or Socks would not have been away for three days. It is not fit for any house-cat to be outside tonight. I hope he feels better soon. Deb
ReplyDeleteThe days/nights he was gone were the milder days...then the temps dropped drastically and he came home! We have a cat flap door so they come and go as they please.
DeleteI hope Socks heals quick!
ReplyDeleteLove your murmuration of starlings!
He looks better tonight but we might still make that vet trip on Monday. Shhh! :)
DeleteI had fish for dinner tonight, too--except mine was salmon, which was yummy. Yours looks tasty, too.
ReplyDeleteWe had salmon earlier this week...it's one of our favorites!
DeleteYou take great pictures. Love the blue jay.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lala :) I appreciate you visiting!
DeleteAs I mentioned on FB the cardinal looks like a lovely fascinator hat on Garden Girl. So glad you posted it here too.
ReplyDeleteSocks looks mighty fine in that photo with his paws tucked cosily underneath. I rather like his stance under the ship!
That starlings shot is fabulous - wow.
And that sweet pink cloche is definitely whispering to me...
She just needs a bit of red netting down over her eyes, don't you think? Ha.
DeleteHa! Absolutely.
DeleteIf she was inside, I could have a lot of fun bring home old hats from the auctions and change them up on her every now and then like some used to do with their cement gooses. haha.
DeleteShe would love that!
DeleteHi Betsy - the tuna steak looks good and it's still early here - sad really!! Fantastic shots .. and the cardinal is just carminely brilliant - I'm sure he's scarlet brilliant ... a murmuration of starlings can only be good ... and Socks .. he looks a little tentative ... sure hope he improves during the weekend ... Happy last few days of holiday time ... and then the best 2015 possible .. cheers and with thoughts - Hilary
ReplyDeleteMaybe a murmuration of starlings above your window means good luck....a sign of a good 2015, perhaps? Ha.
DeleteYour little lady looks amused at the cardinal on her head - maybe it tickles.
ReplyDeleteShe does look like she is giggling, doesn't she!
DeleteYour little warrior Socks returns from the Cat Wars, triumphant, but wounded in his efforts to protect the honor of his beloved mistress and what does he get? Praise, or a chunk of tuna for his dinner? No! Instead he gets threatened with a visit to the vet! Shame. . . .
ReplyDeleteLove the Pinky Thing, whatever it is. I'll put it on my wish list for my birthday.
Haha...Socks got all three and lots of tlc...but I shouldn't have said the V word out loud!
DeleteLooks like you and Suzie may have to fight over the pink!
Ah, but my birthday is tomorrow, Keith, so I win! Grin.
DeleteOh, and an evil grin at that! haha. That is so weird, Suzie, because for some reason this morning as I was just waking up a thought came to me that I wasn't sure when your birthday way. Then I thought, 'No problem...facebook will tell me when it comes!' Wow...and then it's tomorrow. That is some kind of premonition!
DeleteHa- sure is! That's so strange.
DeleteHahaha!
ReplyDeleteLove Mr Cardinal on Drew Barrymores head!
So glad he sat still for you!
Put some seed out yesterday....attracted 5 squirrels! :o/
Enjoy your day..
Cheers!
Linda :o)
You need a cat to keep those squirrels away! You might need more than one for Red alone! Ha.
DeleteYum.... I want breakfast now. LOL! Have a wonderful day, Betsy! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteTrade you that breakfast for some of your snow!
DeleteJust saw in your sidebar that you had a great time at the grocery with Alex... what a nice followup to his being so engaged at Christmas. Great to see it is more than a one-time thing!
ReplyDeleteI took pictures...I will do a post soon. He smiled and made his happy sounds all the way through the store. So cute.
DeleteI love the cardenal! and the girl of course!
ReplyDeleteGlad I was there to get the picture!
DeleteWonderful series of photos.. I love the bird shots.. The Cardinal is pretty. Happy weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Eileen....glad to have some bird shots to share with the group!
DeleteWonderful photos! I love the cardinal and your breakfast looks delicious. Enjoy your weekend!
ReplyDeleteThank you Gunilla....very fun to see everyone's contribution this week!
DeleteHope that handsome Socks is on the mend!!! I hate hearing of injured kitties.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, look at all those feathered ones....like the movie "THE BIRDS". Love the jay and the cardinal too.
Yes, tuna steaks, yum.
Thanks for sharing your link today!! And happy to see you return to blogging.
I thought of The Birds, too! haha.
Deletegreat images and one of my favorite birds are starlings - because i don't get them here and i love the pattern on their wings. Some people think they're a nuisance but i love them.
ReplyDeletethey never come in quietly...it's always a big, loud show! haha.
DeleteA scrumptious collection of photos. I hope that Socks heals well on his own. Isn't it amusing how no matter what the cat's temperament is, they always looked so pissed off when we take their photo straight on like that?
ReplyDeletehaha...yes,...he wasn't pissed off...just really tired and feeling bad. He's gone again today....wish he would come home out of the rain!
DeleteYour photographs are lovely. Your photography has grown by leaps and bounds. Sorry to read 2014 was such a rough year. Here's to a happier 2015! with love, CG
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for saying that...I really appreciate it! And yes, I hope 2015 is a good one for all of us!
DeleteBeautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christian...so nice of you to stop by!
Deletewow, that´s a lot of starlings in the tree shot :)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? Crazy things!
DeleteGreat series of images!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Steph!
