We had a great time with some of The Mister's staff
from work. And yeah, Taylor and Lauren were here, too,
because Taylor is the Social Media Administrator for
our two local hospitals as a side job!
We ate all kinds of yummy hors d'oeuvres like shrimp
cocktail, flank steak crostini, crudites, bacon wrapped scallops,
chocolate covered strawberries, sweet and sour meatballs,
cheese dip and crackers, red velvet cake, pastry swans,
fruit cups and some lovely white zinfandel.
The best part of the evening was opening White Elephant
gifts. The adults had lots of fun.
The boys were quite disappointed. haha.
♥
Oh my! This was hilarious!! Your poor boys! Truthfully, I think that white elephant teapot is fantastic... your home looks so festive a lovely. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you've been well and enjoying the season. I've been drowning in must-get-dones and have not had any time for blog surfing- December has four family birthdays for us- two of which are this week, The Husband's and my own. Fortunately, I don't have to prepare anything for my own birthday! It this point in life, that's the best gift of all.
Well, happy birthday this week! You two can just celebrate together! Our anniversary is this week. We always try to squeeze in a lunch out as dinner out is usually impossible with a ton of other holiday things on our calendar. This week is amazingly full...one or two things happening every day. Whew! Next week quiets down with the boys home for break the rest of the month. That ties me to home and clears the calendar.
DeleteHappy Birthday! Are you 30 yet? :)
Ha! Am I 30 yet? Hee hee . . . you're sweet. Add another 6 years there and you're on the money. My boys claim I'm ancient which I find ironic considering most parents with kids their ages are generally older. But that's a 15 year old's perspective, right? ;) I'm just hoping to avoid becoming a grandmother at age 38 like I did to my own mother.
DeleteAnd Happy Anniversary to you guys! How many years . . . .?
DeleteAh, you're just a baby! And yeah, all teenagers think anyone over 30 is ancient.
DeleteIt's our 31st! See, I'm WAY past 36 years old. ha.
Hilarious! Those really WERE awful (except for the teapot). Looks like everyone was having so much fun, except for your triplets. Surely they will be relieved when Christmas is here and they receive some good gifts. I love your captioning - still laughing.
ReplyDeletePoor guys....I think they were waiting for a gift for them and these strange things kept being brought out of the boxes. lol....
DeleteBetsy, your home looks so bright and welcoming. Almost felt like I was at the party as I scrolled through the photos. Hope the boys realized these fun gifts aren't all there is. Can't help wondering where your furry helpers were. Perhaps hiding under the beds afraid they might be mistaken for gifts. Lynne in NC
ReplyDeleteThey were so excited to see presents being brought in...poor guys. But they seemed amused at the rest of us laughing hysterically at each one. The furry friends did make an appearance or two....while we were eating. Slate especially was under our chairs begging for morsels. ha.
DeleteLove the expressions on the boys' faces. And your captions fit perfectly.
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks. :) They were both amused and disappointed, I think.
DeleteThis looks like so much fun!!!
ReplyDeleteWe did have a lot of fun. Haven't done white elephants in a long time. Oh my!
Deletelmao oh they look like wtf indeed
ReplyDeleteWith such presents taking seed
Captured their thoughts well in civil terms I think
All of those gifts rather stink
Stink they did!
DeleteAnd should be kept hid.
Good way to get rid of your crap
but then you get some one else's back!
haha crap for crap
DeleteAn endless trap
Stop the cycle
Deleteand recycle.
haha...is that a rhyme cheat?
LOL ! Love the captions... oh my tummy hurts from all the laughing.
ReplyDeleteHey, you! :) Where have you been? Thanks for laughing at my funny jokes. We sure had a good time!
DeleteYou gave me a good laugh today.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad! :)
DeleteThat was funny! Looks like a good time, and the white elephant teapot is perfect!
ReplyDeleteSomeone also brought in a white towel folded like an elephant like they leave on your bed on a cruise. So funny!
DeleteCute captions! I've actually ended up with some cool things from this game. One woman's trash... etc. Your food selection sounds just amazing. Yum! And I am sure everyone enjoyed your home - so beautifully decorated. Laughing at the boys! Poor lads.
ReplyDeleteSome things weren't too bad but nothing had a fight break out for it. lol.... Boy, did we laugh, though. So fun!
DeleteIt's funny you mention the white elephant towel because when I looked at the second to last photo I thought "Hmmmm... that looks like a collapsing elephant on the table" - too funny.
DeleteYes, it certainly was a white towel elephant. We had some people take the game title very literally! haha.
DeleteLooks like a fun party!
ReplyDeleteKooky gifts.....so fun!
Happy Anniversary.......hope you get out for a meal!
Cheers ,
Linda :o)
Our week is crazy busy but we are getting out for lunch on Friday.
DeleteLunch is just easier...nobody needed to watch the boys.....I get to pick the restaurant. yum.
Enjoy!
DeleteNothing wrong with a white teapot, I would love one. And a cassette player. I have 100's of cassettes, but can't find anything with decent quality to play them with.
ReplyDeleteYou must have really flummoxed the triplets with those gifts! Ha! *
All you need is a car to put the cassette player in! Do you call dashboards, dashboards? ha. I'm thinking not since you call a trunk a boot.
DeleteAnd a hood a bonnet.
DeleteKeith you could transfer your cassette tapes to audio CD ~ you need only a reasonable tape playback machine plus some software. I use Audio Cleaning Lab, but Audacity can be downloaded free.
This looks like our family's Christmas Rob Your Neighbor gift exchange :-)
ReplyDeleteWe did have the option of taking a gift from someone but that only happened once. Someone took the fortune cookies. Then they were disappointed when they found out that they weren't individually wrapped and all had the same fortune. lol....
DeleteIn a word . . . . . hilarious . . . . but difficult for the boys to understand the 'crappy' gifts ~ no doubt Christmas will put that right . . . .
ReplyDeleteJust love that piccie of you with either Alex, Harry or Spencer ~ you don't look a day over 36 . . . . :)
That is Spencer with me. :) And thanks for that...but didn't you notice those wrinkles around my eyes? haha...or shall we call them laugh lines? lol....
DeleteI was just gazing into those beautiful big brown eyes . . . . . :)
DeleteI love the way you do your hair, makes you look 32, doesn't it Eddie?
DeleteCould be 30 even and I see no wrinkles either, would you not agree Keith . . . . . . . :)
Deletehaha....well, you two are ancient and can't see well anymore. lol....
DeleteGood thing these two live on the other side of the pond! :-D
DeleteWho are you calling ancient ? . . . . . . such cheek . . . . . I can see the Cherokee coming out .. . . . lol
DeleteI'll have you know I do not require the services of SpecSavers . . . . .and Suza is quite right . . . haha
Silly man....you do too require the services of SpecSavers...or did you also forget you wear specs? lol....
DeleteOh poor boys ! I think they are a little dissapointed!
ReplyDeleteWe'll have to fix that next week!
DeleteBTW I love the white teapot is lovely:)
DeleteHaHa, now it's my turn to laugh....This is belly laughing funny. You captions are just too cute. What a great Party, and how nice that everyone could have so much fun... I love white elephant gifts..and the food sound yummy too.
ReplyDeleteBelly laughing funny....not to be confused with belly dancing funny. hahaha... Yes, we did have fun and everyone was so great about letting the boys help unwrap the gifts...it's their favorite thing to do no matter who the gift belongs to! :)
DeleteSometimes I think the best part of Christmas gift giving is the White Elephant gift exchange. No pressure and always hilarious.
ReplyDelete:0)
Yep...me, too...because none of us really need anything at all!
DeleteBetsy, this gave me a great laugh and I needed one! Love the teapot AND the cartoon bubbles.
ReplyDeleteGlad you got a much needed chuckle from it! :)
DeleteOh, how fun!!! And all the "bubble" comments seems like you read the facial expressions pretty good too!! I know you didn't over-indulge with all of those snacks available either. Certainly was the perfect party hostess!!! Prettiest too....
ReplyDeleteI had a lot of fun putting that together...a great mindless thing to do on the day after. You'd be proud of me...I actually took the day off....puttered around all day and did just about nothing. ha. And thank you...I guess those blue eyes you were talking about really are the kind and thoughtful type. :)
DeleteHow fun !
ReplyDeleteWot...no Chia Pets ?
Looks like a good time was had by all, I love the expression on the boy's faces :)
~Jo
Funny you mentioned Chia Pets! I actually thought that would be the perfect white elephant! It would be worth it to pick one up just to have it on hand. haha.
DeleteHi Betsy - wonderful photos ... with the added conversations ... they are fun - and how great they all came to your new home! Must be amazing showing everyone all the changes ... that's great Taylor is helping the hospitals out with Social Media ...
ReplyDeleteThe food now ... it's a little early for lunch .. but I'm thinking it must be close! Sounds delicious ... and a great evening had by one and all .. cheers Hilary
What a nice bunch of people, too. I had never met a few of them before...always nice to see who works with the mister.
DeleteI have never participated in a white elephant exchange. Looks like it was a really fun evening. Haha, I think your captions captured everyone's thoughts quite well. :)
ReplyDeleteYou should arrange one with your extended family some time. It's always a fun time and costs nothing. But you have to document it so we can all enjoy it, too!
Deleteha. may contain awesome. lol.
ReplyDeleteand the oak ridge boys....i have a few albums like that which i pass around at white elephants.
funniest one this year....my wife had dirty santa at LU...
so i got her gift for her....
so i got "Poopy Head" a game in which one person wears a shower cap with targets
and others throw plush poop at them...
catches the velcro and you get points....
the dean of her college was the one to get it...ahahahaha
I am laughing hard, Brian... never heard of that one!
DeleteDirty Santa at LU...now there is an ironic thought if I ever heard one. lol...
DeleteHi Betsy! Love your blog! Just tried to post a comment and don't know if you got it our not so.....trying again! Can you post your nut cluster recipe again? I made them last year- so, so easy and delicious! Merry Christmas Betsy! Kelley
ReplyDeleteHi Kelley! You can find the recipe by putting Chocolate Peanut Clusters in the search box at the top left of this page. Glad you made them last year...it's an annual Christmas treat for us! Yum! Merry Christmas!
DeleteI am catching up!!! Oh my! What fun. Would love to snatch up on some of those appetizers!!! Recognized some of your distinguished guests!!!
