I don't think I've caught my breath since the kitchen reno began the
last week of September. Friday was the last of all the craziness
on our December calendar, so today I went into hermit mode.
I've sat in bed with a pot of coffee and my lap top for most of the day.
So unlike me.
So wonderful.
Are you ready for Christmas?
I just need to wrap all the gifts and make a Christmas day dessert.
Then we'll go into hermit mode again until New Years. ha.
♥
Now you didn't even mention being in hermit mode this morning!! Good day for it though. It's dreary, gray, and damp here and 50F all day long. YUK!! Are you guys getting any snow yet? Or will that be arriving for Christmas??
ReplyDeleteNo, I guess I didn't! And here I am, still in the same spot! haha. It was dreary, grey and damp here, too....but in the 20's. 50 would have felt like a heat wave! haha. No snow but it sure looks like it could fall. It would be fun for it to come on Christmas. Some years we are buried and some years we have none.
DeleteI love your hermit mode, and cute toes. I am pretty much there too. My gifts are wrapped, the toffee made, and when I was at the thrift store looking for the glass vase, I stumbled on a John Grisham book I had not read, The Last Juror. So I slept in this morning made a pot of coffee and enjoying new book.. Can't make my Christmas dessert until next week....so I'm chilln too. HaHa. Love and Hugs for a very Merry Christmas.
ReplyDeleteYou had a nice relaxing day, too! Taylor said he wanted cookies, so I need to find out exactly what kind he was think of. I can make those Wednesday. Wish I had my presents wrapped like you. I can't put them under the tree or the boys will tear into them. I think that's why I always procrastinate on the wrapping...everything is in hiding and has to stay there. They are home all day the next two weeks, so I'm going to have to lock myself in my studio and get that done on Monday. ha.
DeleteThat's one blessing of being just the two of us....no one is nosing around the presents. They will all get bundled up and taken to Michel's Christmas Day. I do remember having to hide presents from our four when they were small. Julie puts numbers on her gifts, and she alone has the list...so they don't know who gets what until Christmas. I think that's pretty smart.
DeleteI like the number idea! I also know someone that uses a different wrapping for each child. My boys wouldn't care...they would unwrap them all...just like they did with all those white elephants the other nights. haha.
DeleteI'd like to be in hermit-mode, we have sickness in the family, a granddaughter recovering from surgery, and now my daughter has been diagnosed with pneumonia, I'm having to play nurse maid, such is Sod's Law :)
ReplyDeleteToes are sweet, all nicely polished for new Christmas slippers !
Enjoy your downtime
~Jo
You poor guys! Feel better...all of you! And take care of the nurse maid...she'll get worn out herself!
Deletehermit mode sounds good!!! pretty toes! I was trying to guess the polish color, lol, dark? navy ? black?
ReplyDeleteDark pink! haha....hard to tell with a black and white photo! lol...
DeleteI'll never be ready, but I don't feel necessarily panicked, just slightly stressed.
ReplyDeleteI'll pull it off one way or another and feel decidedly relieved when t's all over for another year.
:0)
I like hermit mode.
Hermit mode is the best. I should do it more often. ha.
DeleteOn Monday I shall go into hermit mode. I will retire to my cave with all the goodies I'll need to sustain life, and roll the big boulder over the entrance, and emerge on New Years Day, a new man!
ReplyDeleteMetaphorically speaking of course.
DeleteMight there be some Dove Chocolates among the goodies?
DeleteDefinitely. That is if there are any left by then !
DeletePlease tell me you haven't broken open the second bag already. ha.
DeleteEr . . . .no..
DeleteHow about now? ha.
DeleteCoffee and lounging in bed sound divine! It's raining here today, no snow thank goodness as Carl and I leave bright and early Tuesday morning for Christmas in St. Louis! Then to Cocoa Beach through January ... great friends who love opening their home to us! Merry Merry Christmas, Betsy and a Happy New Year!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are going to have so much fun!
DeleteA good idea going into hermit mode and well deserved with all your recent activity. I call it hibernation mode induced partially by winter weather . . . . lol
ReplyDeleteLove the toes . . . . :)
If I was sleeping, I guess I would call it hibernation, but I'm just inside enjoying not being out and about.
DeleteA good mode to be in - and well deserved. You've been going like a bat out of... h-e-double-hockey-sticks as we used to say when we were kids! Enjoy your beautiful home.
ReplyDeleteI know! I really have! lol...and I didn't enjoy my home at all today..only my nice big bed. At one time I had 6 cats sleeping here with me...lol....so funny to see!
DeleteHermit mode works for me
ReplyDeleteHaven't been able to do it for more than a day at my sea
As this and that
Sure comes to the cat
But after back from the other sea
Hermit mode it will be for me
Hermit wannabes
Deletewe just want to take it easy
forget the work and chores
and just enjoy being bored.
ha.
Yep, nothing wrong with that
DeleteWorks for Pat and the cat
When do you leave for that other place
Deletewhen your cats hiss at such disgrace?
lol...
I just got done saying to Bob that I'm about done - just a little packaging on the gifts for the nurses I work with. Aaaah - feels good!
ReplyDeleteYes, I do love that feeling when you know the list is all checked off!
DeleteI finished the last of the shopping today and wrapped much of it tonight. It feels good to be done. I'm not quite as far along with my cooking plans. I'll tackle that tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI envy you having a lot of the wrapping done! It's my least favorite part. lol... After that party last weekend I'm cooked and baked out! Christmas dinner is simple this year...just need ..haha...need? a few sweets made. Oh, and cinnamon rolls for the morning. Then celery and water is going to sound good. :)
DeleteOur Christmas vacation started today! I'm in a gorgeous cabin in the Smoky Mountains! Doesn't get much better!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a very Merry Christmas
That sounds perfect! You just need snow! Have a wonderful time!
DeleteOh, I hear you! I went for a manicure with my daughter the other day. I think I was last pampered this way in 1985!
ReplyDeleteJane x
Every time I go for a pedicure I say that a manicure would be fun. I've never had a professional one. We should make it our New Year's Resolution to have a few in 2015!
DeleteI had the works on Tuesday......
DeleteVery relaxing indeed!
Hope you enjoyed your cozy time Betsy.....
Cheers a!
Linda :o)
Hi Betsy - sounds eminently sensible and am glad you're taking a bed rest or two to gather your wits before Thursday rocks around ... Happy times - cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt's back to reality today. haha...but yesterday was wonderful. I don't think The Mister knew what to do with me sitting in bed all day. He kept coming in and looking at me. I'm usually just a blur of activity around the house. lol.
DeleteI'd like to hibernate today too Betsy. But, there is still too much to do for me...Maybe in a week or too I'll have my turn at spending the day doing nothing much. Have a wonderful relaxing day!
ReplyDeleteIt sure was fun while it lasted! Hope you get it all done! 4 more days! :)
DeleteActually, I'm a big fan of hermit mode! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteIt's my favorite. I was born to be a hermit. ha.
DeleteSounds like an excellent plan! Have a wonderful Christmas.
