Around Here Lately

  1. Some vintage jars full of cookies waiting to give to the bus driver and aide this afternoon.
  2. More Etsy sales going out with a gift for the mail lady.  She does earn her pay on my account alone! ha.
  3. Charcoal, snoozing by the glow of the tree.
  4. The wreath is the only thing frosty around here.  It's cold enough for snow and grey enough for snow.  It just needs to fall now!
  5. Some spicy soup to warm our tummies down to our toes.
  6. Smoke, hanging out in the kitchen with me.  If he gets any bigger, I won't be able to tell him from Slate!
  7. The boys at their Christmas program Tuesday.

  1. Smoke fooled me. I thought he was Slate. Wish you hadn't posted those cookies. Got me drooling. I like the Boys' striped shirts. My mother used to dress me in ones like those with corduroy pants.

    1. I knew that would fool you! Slate is about double the size of Smoke! But we're trying to fatten Smoke up and he's looking so much better! Now at a quick glance, I can't tell who it is!

  2. Glad to see you're looking all Christmas-y around there!! And that "snow wish" will most likely be fulfilled for Christmas up your way. Down here, not so much. Gray, gloomy, and I'm being down this week for some reason. Therefore, haven't done any posting at all.... need some Christmas cheer I suppose.... a good dose of it!!

    1. Gloomy? Well that will just not do! Let's see what we can do about that...ha.

    2. I'm sure it's temporary. "This too shall pass." And then it's on to my BD and the big Christmas celebration.

    3. Your birthday is Monday, right? You were almost a Christmas baby! Aw.

    4. Yes.... the 22nd.... Christmas baby is right. Still love it too!

  3. That's a good picture of the boys, it looks like it was posed. Over here we have a cartoon character called "Dennis the Menace" with his dog "Gnasher" and they are always getting into scrapes and he always wears a red and black striped sweatshirt like the boys have on. Dennis that is, not the dog!

    1. It's almost impossible to get a posed picture of all three together. I rarely try any more!

    2. Don't you have a red and black striped sweatshirt?

    3. I love the garland on the door, but where is the red ribbon with the big bow on it hanging down the door?

      Delete
    4. We call it a wreath! Does it need a red ribbon? I have some!

      Delete
    5. Tie the ribbon to the bottom of the gar . . er . . .wreath and let it hang down the door. That way it wont hide the pretty birdies

      Delete
    6. You put one on your door first. Then I'll add a ribbon to mine. (ducks and runs...)

    7. The USA has a "Dennis the Menace" comic strip character, too, totally unrelated to the British version. (Ours, more mischievous than truly "menacing," is blonde and has a dog named Ruff.) They both premiered in March of 1951, only five days apart. (The British Dennis came first.)

  8. You are such a busy bee. Those vintage jars with cookies....how pretty. I'm putting together a few goodie bags for our Maintenance Man, Willie, and a few of the neighbors I have made real friends with. There is a little Asian man (under 5 ') He tiny in every way, almost fragile. In my mind I call him "Peanut" because he's so small. We see each other in the laundry room, and he bows.... I bow...that's how we communicate...but the other day in the parking lot...he waved a big wave and smile...Could he be flirting...He's got to be 80. How I love living here.

    1. Oh, Willie sounds so cute. ha. He will be thrilled to get a goodie bag from you. How sweet of you to think of him. I really think you and Don have been put there to spread your special Slaven Sunshine. :) The little jars originally came from the thrift store...you know as well as me that you can find the best stuff there! ha. I loved how the cookies looked in them.

  9. I thought it was Slate for a second there
Hard to tell in pics with the weight and same color hair
So has the spirit hit yet?
Or are you just flying without a net? lol

    1. For a while Slate wouldn't come around but every few days. Seems he and Jack were having a little rift and Jack would chase him off. So the poor guy didn't get to eat every day. Then I realized he had tape worms on top of that. So he was a very skinny thing. Treated the worms, scolded Jack and gave Slate a treat of roasted chicken every day on top of the regular cat food. It's been about 2 months and he's looking a lot better.

I had to fly without a net for a while but I guess the spirit has hit. Feeling really good now that all the things on the calendar are done and we can just chill out and enjoy the next couple of weeks.

No rhyme for all of that. Only on my second cup of coffee....lol....

    1. I think just about everyone welcomes snow on Christmas....as long as it doesn't hamper traffic too bad. It's grey and gloomy here again, today...maybe some flakes will fall!

  13. What a great photo of the lads! They look so handsome. I lovvvvve the soft, grey kitties. They look very content. Oh to be a cat at Betsy's! And I seem to remember that those jars might have been in the Etsy shop at one point... or something similar. I almost snapped them up and I am enjoying the one I bought from you last year that has the glass vase surrounded by the the wire Christmas tree. It is so sweet!

    1. Those jars were in the shop! Nobody took them so they went into my gift drawer. They turned out pretty cute with the cookies in them, I think. The bus driver and aide are two sweet old men. I just love them and they are so good with all the special needs young adults on the bus. They certainly deserve a treat!

You are what I can only describe as a whirlwind with all your festive activities and preparations.

    3. Rats AND mice? What will we do with you? I thought you were teasing me with the mice. So that really was a typo?
You know, since you've done it 4 times in the last 24 hours, I'd say there's something psychological going on there.
Maybe you really do want a mice pie and are just afraid to admit it. haha...
