Yesterday the wind howled! At some points, it sounded
like a freight train rolling down the middle of the neighborhood!
The cats crouched under furniture like they do when it thunders. ha.
The strong wind made the clouds roll by the windows at a rapid clip!
Bits of blue sky would occasionally show with bright white clouds,
only to be quickly covered up again by thick darkness and rain.
It was not a good hair day, even for the Blue Jays!
Garden Girl didn't seem to mind, though.
And she's nice and clean from her shower.
Eventually, the birds gave up trying to stay on board
the swaying feeders.
It was fun to watch the drips of rain during some of the quiet points.
Very few leaves are left.
Now we'll have to wait until April to see the new buds.
There's a chill in the air!
Feels like November!
♥
the only thing missing is snow!! Want some? I have lots to spare!!!!
ReplyDeleteYes, I want some! haha. New England is getting the snow this week! I don't know if we're supposed to get any or not!
DeleteAphrodite may look clean, but she's got a real problem with 'underarm moss'. Better buy her some deodorant! That weathervane is stunning! When is it going into the shop? Money waiting this end. . . .
ReplyDeleteI'll put it in The Will for you. My, you're list is getting long! ha. It's copper...would you polish it or do you like the green patina?
Deletelol . . . Trust Keith to think of underarm moss . . . . . hilarious . . .
DeleteBad hair day for the Blue Jay!!! lol It does look cold and oh, so windy. Oddly, Georgia had an unusual spring like day with high temp of 70 yesterday. Did not even need a sweater. Today is cloudy/cold again. You have a pretty spot to look out into the yard from your desk.
ReplyDeleteOh, that is warm! Hope it lasts for you down there. I think 70 is the perfect temperature.
DeleteSounds real rough out there ~ better indoors by far ~ nice watching everything get soaked when we are nice and dry and (fairly) warm.
ReplyDeleteI'm surprise Garden Girl is still standing . . . .
Love the light shining off the bird feeder and the way you have captured the action of the bird's wings.with a little blur for speed.
Nice shot of the blue jay ~ wish we had those here.
Your weathervane is enough to make the birds freeze in terror ~ that and the gargoyle . . . lol
Hope you had a very nice day . . . . . . :)
I hadn't thought of that, but I do seem to have scary creatures surrounding the house! haha.
DeleteThe birds don't seem that worried.
DeleteWhat happened to the skunks you had? They seem to have just gone away. . . .
Maybe it was the gargoyle! haha. Actually, I changed the type of bird feeder I was using. Now the raccoon can't dump the whole thing to the ground! Smart thinking, huh!? :)
DeleteVery smart . . . . but I am surprised at the skunks thinking they were birds . . . . So no bird seed and they simply flew away . . .
DeleteYes I love that bird feeder ~ looks very upmarket for upmarket birds . . . nothing but the best . . . :)
Garden girl always look happy:)
ReplyDeleteGod knows why! Betsy leaves the poor girl out in all weathers.
DeletePoor girl must be shivering . . .
DeleteYou think she would drag her onto the from porch for the winter wouldn't you?
DeleteShe's SO heavy! If I asked the mister to bring her inside, he would say NO! haha.
DeletePut her on wheels . . . . lol
DeleteWell only I said she looks happy:)
ReplyDeleteShe's ALWAYS smiling! Happy girl. :)
DeleteShe looks a bit shy . . . . :)
DeleteThat November chill. Time to light up the fireplace. Make the hot chocolate. Snuggle with someone close. Reminisce about fun things together as your toes intertwine in the warm glow of the fire. Yes. November.
ReplyDeleteWell, listen to you! Lucky Mrs. Johnson!
DeleteYou even make a rainy and windy day poetic.
ReplyDeleteLove how you captured the birds and drops of rain.
Those poor birds! They were happy when it dried up and the sun came out!
DeleteThe wind sure did blow here too
ReplyDeleteThought the power was going to go out at my zoo
The cats just sat and looked though
One thing pansy orlin isn't afraid of at our show lol
Good thing the power didn't go out!
DeleteThat just makes me want to shout.
Drive my boys crazy, too.
Then we all feel like we're going cuckoo. ha.
Great shots....especially the Jay♥️
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your evening....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
he has a triple Mohawk! ha.
Deletethey say we will get snow tomorrow...anywhere froma dusting to over 3 inches...we shall see...
ReplyDeleteand the wind i imagine as well...the wind is ever present here these days it seems...
I hope you get a ton....after you arrive at your Thanksgiving destination, though. :)
DeleteBlue jays are so pretty, not very nice to the smaller birds but I love them anyway:) There is a chill in the air for sure..we have a bit more than just a chill..forecast for -24 C tonight. Need that furnace to keep working.
ReplyDeleteThey are a little loud and bossy, aren't they? I have three that are feeding from my seed this week...I love watching them!
DeleteStay warm! Brrr!
Laughing out loud at the blue jay - too funny! He needs some super gel.
ReplyDeleteI was in Campbell House (an historic Toronto building built in 1822) yesterday for a play reading. We were sitting in the drawing room which had huge windows so I was able to watch the weather change every few minutes - like you did. One minute beautiful sunshine, the next minute an apocalyptic green that looked like we were going to be swept into Oz!
Oooh...sounds like it added to the drama of the reading! The wind has been amazing lately!
DeleteHi Betsy - lovely shots of nature at its best - love the one through the window of the blue sky, with thundering, sunlit clouds through your bejewelled window ... I do love seeing the birds and beasts when they appear ... but under-sofa spaces are difficult to get too - sensible cats ... lovely to be inside and out on days like that ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteIt seems to be a bit calmer today and they are lounging on the rugs and couches now. ha.
DeleteI hope that the weather will be better today! xx
ReplyDeleteIt's very grey but not windy or rainy. Still a good day to stay inside and bake!
DeleteYes it seems to get really rough out there and the birds feathers go flying and the squirrel can't keep his tail in order. We had mild wind today, Wednesday, and it was a very quiet snow as we became white all over again. Birds get really hungry when the ground is covered with snow.
