Today the glue was sanded from the floors.
The cabinet lighting connected, and the dishwasher brought
in and holes drilled for the hoses.
I felt like doing something creative, so I painted the lid
to an old glass tilt canister that I want to put in the kitchen.
I wanted it to look like brown transferware.
I painted the background with white acrylic and free-handed
the flowers with brown marker.
I'll spray a coat of clear protection over it tomorrow.
Does it need a knob in the center?
I think maybe it will hold coffee beans!
Did you see the moon last night?
♥
wow, looks great, what a good job you did,
ReplyDeleteThat was very fun and relaxing to do....I needed a fun project like that!
DeleteI vote for no knob. I think one might make it look a little busy. It's such a wow as it is. Lynne in NC
ReplyDeleteHmmm....you might have a point there! Maybe I can find a little white one if I find it needs one. I like it as is, though. Shall I let Slate decide? ha.
DeleteKitchen really coming on beautifully ~l love the lighting.
ReplyDeleteLove the design on your lid ~ you are very artistic and It looks so professional. . . . :)
Yes I saw the moon last night ~ it was a bright full moon.
Did I hear that there was an eclipse of the moon somewhere in the States last night? . . . :)
Yes...and in Canada as well Eddie...
DeleteBut....with all the cloud....couldn't see it!
Looks good Betsy.....love your handiwork♥️🍺
Enjoy your evening!
Cheers! :o)
Linda
I'm pretty sure eclipses are world wide..just like moon phases. We all see the same thing, just at different time zones.
DeleteAwesome job indeed
ReplyDeleteKnob would be easier to yank it at your feed
No moon for me
Can just see it from thee
Too cloudy for the moon?
DeleteWe got lucky as the clouds away blew.
Clear sky last night.
Moon nice and bright.
Too many buildings in the way
Deletehere at my bay
That's how the sunrises are here.
DeleteNever see one with the trees and houses near.
Ooh, that kitchen is coming together fast!
ReplyDeleteOur sky was cloud-covered last night, in anticipation of the rain that started coming down about 4 AM
Do you think? Thanks...I needed to hear that. I feel like this week is crawling along as far as progress.
DeleteOur rain started later this morning....very grey and gloomy now!
It looks and sounds as though great progress is being made on the kitchen! I love your canister lid and am amazed at your talent in drawing this yourself!!! You are so clever to be able to do this and it looks beautiful!!!! xx
ReplyDeleteIt helped to have a plate to look at. ha. Is that cheating? lol..
DeleteThe kitchen look really good
ReplyDeleteWill be beautiful Betsy:)
yes, I think it will be very lovely when all finished!
DeleteWhat happened to your washer?
Still has a problem but is difficult come a man here to see!
DeleteI hope the weekend can make something.
Hubby has been so busy and arrive late!
Things always break when hubbies are busy and late! Happens here, too! ha.
DeleteYes.sigh!
DeleteYes, saw the moon because Carl had to work at 5am! Up at 4am to make a healthy breakfast for him ~ no more gooey donuts! I might consider a nob that fits the colors on your beautifully painted lid!
ReplyDeleteOh, he goes to work early! I guess you were greeted by that big ol' moon!
DeleteGorgeous lid, Betsy! What a fantastic idea- yes, we have very similar taste! I adore brown transfer-ware! :) I think a little glass knob would be perfect for it . . . but it's wonderful as it is, too.
ReplyDeleteGlass would be good! I have a bin of old knobs in my studio...might have to dig around in there.
Deletelooks great! I like the idea of a knob but you are the one using it :) I'm sure it'll look great either way! Excited for you that things are moving along!
ReplyDeleteOh and I DID see the moon! This morning at 2:30 when I packed Son #2's lunch and sent him off to New York for work! Then again at 5:00 when I packed the Son #1's lunch and sent him off then again at 7:10 when I got up the third and final time!! Yes, I'm tired tonight but the moon was beautiful and my boys have jobs so it's all good! :)
DeleteOh dear...you and those lunches! I pack three lunches every night..but around 10pm before I go to bed. They can sit in the frig until needed. ha.
Deletewell tonite my fridges are full of 13 cheesecakes. ha! baked for a wedding a friend is catering on Saturday. I could pack the lunches at night except the one who leaves at 5:30 usually wants breakfast. And last night when the 2:30 one came upstairs he looked at the stove and said,"where's my breakfast?" haha, as if I'd fire it up at that hour of the night! He's perpetually hungry but I guess it takes real food to fuel all 6'3" ??? lbs. of him!
ReplyDeleteOooh.wedding cheesecakes sound wonderful!
DeleteBreakfast at 2:30am...that just cracks me up! I guess you just feel like breakfast is needed if you just woke up, no matter what time of night it is!
haha, yeah I had to laugh too, he's just funny most of the time.
ReplyDeleteand you wouldn't have it any other way! :)
DeleteOh wow...your kitchen is really coming along. It's going to be beautiful, Betsy. Love the brown transferware look for the canister lid. You did a really nice job on that. I happen to have the very same canister that was once in my father-in-law's shop. I saw the moon tonight as we were driving home from caring for the retired-guy's friend's dog. It was amazing. Thanks so much for your nice comment today. I'm an emotional wreck...a puddle on the floor...but I'll get through this and love it, I'm sure. I think blogging will be fun from the country...yeehaw! Hugs, Deb
ReplyDeleteAw..poor you! You're allowed a puddle on the floor day. Change is hard. But you have some wonderful changes coming....look for the good in each day. That's what I'm trying to do here. ha. Some days are easier than others! lol...
DeleteWhat a lot of progress made this week! Your artwork looks wonderful.
ReplyDeleteI did see the moon - very cool!
I hadn't seen the moon in a while...lots of clouds...and we're back to clouds again!
Deleteoh wow...that lid turned out really beautiful betsy...
ReplyDeleteand its got to feel good to see it kinda starting to come together too...
Paint and flooring and I'll be over the moon myself! haha.
DeleteI do love lights in cabinets! So pretty and especially at night when they are the only thing on in the kitchen. We will need some shots of that when the time comes. :-) Your tilt canister is beautiful. How creative to be able to draw freehand... I would have to make a stencil I think and trace it from that. I opt for no knob but I guess if you are always grabbing for things in it, then it might be a pain. I just think it looks so pretty as is. If you are going to add one, I was thinking of the bird ones that you have added to a few of your cloches. I think that would be a sweet, whimsical touch.
ReplyDeleteA nest pained on a lid with a bird knob would be really cute! :)
DeleteThe kitchen is coming together beautifully! I love that you even have the time and sanity for something creative.
ReplyDeleteI have some big decisions to make regarding my own sanity...
Whatever shall I do?
:0)
I think being creative was me trying to preserve my sanity. ha. Just like this morning...the back of the house I vacuumed, made beds, did laundry and cleaned bathrooms. I think I'm trying to have some order. Oh dear.
DeleteI hope you find your sanity, too....without having to resort to drawing on lids. lol....
... or beating the kids.
DeleteHa ha, It rhymed that's all.
I haven't beaten anyone yet, unless it was a footrace.
:0)
LOL! Glad to know everyone is safe near you. haha...so far!
DeleteYes. The moon kept me awake. I seem to have insomnia whenever there's a full moon. It's probably all in my head but I still have it.
ReplyDeleteThe Mister does that...bright moon and can't sleep. I always say, just close your eyes! haha. I guess you would understand his dilemma. ha.
Delete~~~~~~****INCREDIBLE****~~~~~~
ReplyDeleteJust you wait! ha.
DeleteLooks like you are almost done in the kitchen - how exciting. I will say I vote for a knob just to make it easier to open - maybe a small one that fades into the color?
ReplyDeleteI tried to wake my 15 year old up in the morning to see the moon and all I got was a grunt :) The 9 year old thought it was pretty cool though.
Oh, that's funny...yes I can see the teenager not wanting to see the moon. I mean, like, if you've seen one moon, you've like, seen them all, right? haha.
DeleteWow that's a big kitchen!! Can't wait to see the finished project! I love your windows btw! Oh and thank you for your wise comment on my blog!! ;)
ReplyDeleteHope you have a blessed weekend!
xx
It's a good sized kitchen for as small as the original house was when we built it...and the eating area became my desk, so that works great. All five men can fit in there and then some. ha.
DeleteAnd she is crafty..good job Betsy:) Yes I saw the moon..looked amazing out in the country.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Betty...I had fun doing that. :)
DeleteYeah, I've been watching the moon for the past few nights. I always think of you. :)
ReplyDeleteAlmond Joys, huh? Gotta love the "fun size!"
DeleteYou always think of me when you see the moon? Well, aren't you sweet. :)
DeleteHad to hide the halloween candy from myself...geesh! I think I was stress eating. ha.
Betsy, this is off subject but I'm wondering. Now that you have had your robovac for almost a year are you still happy with it? Does it still do a good job? I'm thinking about putting it on my Christmas list. Thanks for any input.
ReplyDeleteTressa - a fan of your blog.
Hi tressa...love your name, btw. :)
DeleteI do still love my bot! There's just something about him vacuuming a room while I do other things! It's great. I usually close him in each bedroom and set my timer for about 20 minutes so I don't forget him. Same with the bathrooms. The charge lasts about two hours which is a good long time.
If you get one, I would recommend getting it at bed bath and beyond and using one of their 20% off coupons, which is what we did. Let me know if you get one or have any more questions! And thanks for commenting...it's alway great to see who reads my posts.
