Today it was The Mister and I who were working on the reno!
He installed cabinet doors and drawers.
He did a pretty good job, didn't he?
And you know when he works on something, Murphy's Law
is prevalent! But today everything has gone very smoothly!
The microwave got installed, too.
I ran the dishwasher and hand washed loads of things to go into
the cupboards. Everything needs washed. Just look at the dust on
that table. It's everywhere in the house! :(
Lunch was yummy while we worked!
Chicken, avocado, kale, bacon, cheese and mayo on oatmeal bread.
Yum.
Now I'm off to watch nascar...and maybe some more work
during the commercials. ha.
♥
Er. . . .has Jeff forgotten the handles?
ReplyDeleteThat dust is nothing to mine! I stopped dusting long ago. Lets face it, after four years it can't get any worse can it?
DeleteHandles will come later. :)
DeleteWhat a gorgeous kitchen that will be!!!!
ReplyDeleteann
I'm getting pretty. Excited, Ann! Every day it's looking better!
DeleteLove the dark cabinets, Betsy....
ReplyDeleteLooking good!
Enjoy your evening....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
One sandwich please!♥️
I've had white cabinets for 26 years....this is such a nice change! I think I'm going to like it a lot.
DeleteWow Betsy it looks great! I love the open cabinets. It also looks like they are lit inside. What a great way to display your dishes. I can't wait to see what you're going to do with the window area.
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been around in a while. I've been really sick. I have shingles on my face and in my mouth. Very painful and slow recovery. Don't think I'll need a Halloween mask this year. Ha! The right side of my face is disgusting. I feel like the Phantom of the Opera. I need to get a mask to cover that half of my face : )
Enjoy your NASCAR. We're getting ready to watch a movie on TCM.
My desk is going back in that nook...I can't give that up! Ha.
DeleteI'm so sorry to hear that you have shingles! Oh. That sounds awful! And to have it on your face of all places! You deserve pie...tell Tom to make you one or three. :). Feel better soon!, xo
You are SO lucky to have a man that can do that type of thing!!!
ReplyDeleteLooks amazing!! :)
Well it doesn't usually go smoothly and there is a lot of growling and swearing. Lol! But yesterday went great...we did have to check out a couple ikea help videos on YouTube when he got stuck. Those where great...not by ikea, but by a guy who showed step by step how to put together their stuff. He should charge money. Ha.
DeleteI was the only one who got growled at when I left my mug of coffee in the microwave and he brought it into the kitchen to put into its new cabinet...he sloshed coffee all inside the microwave and it leaked out the door and down the front of his jeans. Oh dear...he was not happy with me!
Mmm, I love dark cabinets! It is going to look great.
ReplyDeleteI'm so impressed because in spite of the torn up kitchen you produced a healthy lunch. It looks really good.
You're going to hate me for saying this, but wherever I've had major reno work done it has taken forever (months and months) for all of the dust to finally settle. The good news is that you are probably a better cleaner than me so it probably won't be such an ordeal for you.
Ha...yes, I'm sure you're right about the dust. I did know better than to try to do anything about it while things were still being torn up...useless!
DeleteThe lit cabinets are awesome! Good job, you two!
ReplyDeleteAren't they pretty? I think the lights really finish off the look.
DeleteCouldn't resist a peep although it is late . . . a good job and it looks real dandy.
ReplyDeleteLove the colour ~ looks very attractive and distinguished ~ like the lady of the house of course.
I gathered the handles are coming later ~ are you going to use a template to get them lined up? . . . :)
. . . and gosh! What a load of dust . . . . bet you can't wait to get started on that when all the work is done. . . .
Delete. . . you both sure deserved that sandwich after all your hard work . . . :)
We will definitely need to use a template for the handles! I hope Murphy doesn't show up that day! Lol...
DeleteDamn, that is a ton of dust
ReplyDeleteClean that asap would be a must haha
My ocd would want to run
Maybe then I'd get some sun
Did a good job indeed
There at your feed
The dust is yuck!
DeleteA bunch of muck!
Away it must go.
Wish I could use a hose! Lol
Wow. Beautiful charcoal grey and the lights look amazing. The grey is perfect with the stainless steel appliances. And even though I have just eaten a delicious Italian meal, that sammie looks most tasty.
ReplyDeleteI could eat that sandwich every day. The only thing it was missing was a garden tomato and maybe some sweet onion! Yum
DeleteHe works so well! Look beautiful
ReplyDeleteThis kitchen will be amazing Betsy!
It is an improvement, isn't it? I think it looks bigger somehow, but the walls are the same! Ha.
DeleteOoooh! It's really starting to look like a kitchen! I love the cabinets - very exciting!
ReplyDeleteIt felt so good to put silverware in the drawers! Ha.
DeleteI love how it's all coming together! Going to look just like one of those "after" kitchens on HGTV.... I see it coming!! When it's all done, and all the dust is cleaned up, it'll be time to start the HOLIDAY cooking and festivities!!! Wish you lived closer.... and wish I would be on your invite list.
ReplyDeleteIf you lived closer, you most certainly would be on the invite list! But I would request a jar of your homemade salsa as a hostess gift! :)
DeleteThe cabinets look great! I really like the lit ones, especially. Now you can really see how nice the kitchen will be when it's all done.
ReplyDeleteI finally feel like it's coming along! Paint and floors will help, too, don't you think? Ha.
DeleteLove the cabinets. Love that The Mister wears slippers like my guy. Love that you at least have a micro. Love that you use kale in a sandwich. But not really.
ReplyDeleteJane xx
We all shuffle about in our slippers! Bare feet is preferred but not when you have splintery plywood on the floor. Ha.
DeleteBaby kale...it's just like lettuce. We don't care for the mature thick stuff...it's so bitter. We give that to nugget. ...his favorite!
He has done an excellent job. Adjusting cabinet hinges is an awful task.
ReplyDeleteThe lighter wood behind the doors would have shown any errors too...he did great!
DeleteHi Betsy - that's great you were able to move things along over the weekend - and am so glad all went well. Sounds like you're balancing life slightly ... delicious looking lunch - and then the Nascar ... the reno is definitely moving on - and the dust will go ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteBusy day yesterday, but all fun and productive....more of the same today! Ha.
DeleteLooking good!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it? Everyday now is better than the one before. I like that much better than demo which seems like backwards for a while.
DeleteI'm in love with your windows! Your kitchen is going to be just beautiful- you and the Mister are doing a great job!~
ReplyDeleteWhen we built this little house years ago, the windows were what we loved...lots of them and they are big. I've always loved all the light. I think it helps the dark cabinets not seem too dark, too.
Deleteoo i like the deep rick color of the facing on the cabinets....very nice bets....
ReplyDeletethanks, bri....such a nice change from white. I think it will look very nice when finished!
DeleteYou can begin to imagine the finished look now, very smart. You will be gladd once it's done and the mess is cleared up.
ReplyDeleteI know...I can't wait. I made a little dent in the mess today and if feels better already...
DeleteYou are making such great progress aren't you!! It is looking really good. xx
ReplyDeleteWe're getting there...still a long way to go, though!
