Today The Mister and I have been working on the dining room side
of the kitchen. He assembled cabinets and installed lighting.
I matted, framed and hung some vintage botanical lithographs
that I got at an auction this summer.
Today the triplets turned 21!
Here's a peek back at them at 2 days old.
Hard to believe that 18 lbs of baby was inside me just
48 hours before. ha! You can imagine how uncomfortable
I was. lol....but I carried them to 37 weeks and they
were big, healthy and able to come home right away.
I. however, wasn't as well off as they were. The day after
this picture was taken for the local newspaper, I coughed
and split my C-Section incision wide open and had to
go back into surgery to have it repaired. It delayed our
going home by a day, but after that we were all good to go.
Happy Birthday, boys!
We're doing the real celebrating in a few days.
♥
You guys are awesome!!! I love working with the Mrs. around here on "together" projects, and I see you are the same with the Mr. Hahahaha.... And you look amazing wayyyy back then to have just had triplets!! How did they age 21 years, and you only 10? Hmmmmmmm......
ReplyDeleteWell, aren't you sweet! :) Funny how we age but feel the same inside, isn't it? It seems like about 10 years instead of 21.
DeleteWe're doing pretty well on our little projects....trying to keep the reno moving foward over the weekends! I stop and feed everyone just to make sure nobody gets cranky. lol...
And you work today looks absolutely wonderful... forgot to say that in my first post.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Don. :) It was a piece of cake with my level and girly hammer (little light weight thing. ha.)
DeleteHappy birthday to the boys!
ReplyDeleteI'll tell them you said so! :)
DeleteHope they had a grand day
ReplyDeleteCan't even imagine adding three at once to the fray
Diapers galore
Would be in store lol
Getting there too
At your zoo
Diapers galore was what was in store.
DeleteBottles, too...36 a day to view. ha.
Four hours of sleep per night.
Oh, what a fright! lol....
lol wow, but you survived
DeleteAs in bottles and diapers you dived
You haven't changed, beautiful Betsy, but those three little bundles have certainly grown up into charming young men...21, Our Amanda turned 21 Sept. 27th. Please give the boys Birthday wishes from us. The kitchen and dining area are looking awesome.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Wanda....yes, they certainly have grown...and so have we! ha.
DeleteHappy Birthday Spencer, Harry and Alex! They look adorable in that pic and so does Taylor. Have to say you look so much like adult Taylor in that photo! I know it should be the other way around... but you do. Amazing. Love, love, love botanical prints - especially vintage ones. They look beautiful. Cheers to the Mom of four boys! xox
ReplyDeleteYes, you can really see Taylor in my face there, can't you? ha. So funny.
DeleteAw what lovely picture ! And Ilove the face of Taylor happy birthday boys!
ReplyDeleteall the kids are getting so big!
DeleteHappy Birthday Spencer
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Harry
Happy Birthday Alex
and Happy Birth-Day Betsy!
♪♪♪ :)
DeleteLove the new look on the dining room and kitchen, too.
DeleteThose prints really add a pop!
They do, don't they? I thought we needed some color along with those white cabinets. Didn't want it to look too sterile or all monochromatic like so many people do. ha.
DeleteGood grief Betsy - you look even better after 21 years. That's just not right!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to the boys!
Well, thanks. :) I used to have a friend that always told me the older I got, the prettier I got...but anyone would look better after that pregnancy plus a two year old. haha.
DeleteI think your friend is right!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your boys! YAY,!........21......doesn't seem possible....
ReplyDeleteLove your botanical prints....did you 2 buy everything at IKEA? Hahaha!
Those white cabinets look fantastic.....
November? Geesh!
Enjoy your evening.....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
We bought all of Ikea, yeah. lol....well, almost all. I can't wait to fill those white cabinets and get the table back in there!
DeleteYour Mr does look like my boyfriend.....
DeleteBut....
Boyfriend is not handy........
Mine isn't usually either, but he has done ok the last two weekends. (shhh...but we will be touching up a few spots with white paint. lol.)
DeleteHappy Birthday to those fantastic boys of yours!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle....they sure are fantastic! :)
DeleteOh, Betsy .. This is an adorable image of your 'four' men!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it sweet? I love their little heads and sweet faces. Aw.
DeleteI think your Mr. is breaking his Murphy"s Law curse. The house remodel is looking gorgeous. I love the prints and how you arranged them. I have never heard of anyone carrying triplets for 37 weeks - or 18 pounds! That is amazing. Noticed you've been snacking on candy corn - have you done the candy corn/peanut mixture? It tastes similar to a PayDay candy bar.
ReplyDeleteHe's done great, hasn't he? But we have a contractor that works during the week...we're just doing some easy stuff on the weekends. But you're right...Murphy has stayed away!
DeleteYes, I love the candy corn and peanuts...or with reeces pieces...both are very yummy. I just finished my second bag tonight. haha.
I can't believe I carried those boys that long, too. I was on bed rest the last two months, so I just laid there and let them grow! lol...
Wow! It's hard to imagine all of that being inside just two days earlier! Of course, it's hard to imagine just one being inside too.
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to your threesome! I hope it was wonderful.
I know! They look to big to all be in there at once! lol....oh gosh...what a riot! No wonder they are still inseparable today..they were used to close quarters!
DeleteLove your response...
DeleteWhat a riot!
I looked like a big rig semi truck, Linda! A beached whale laying in bed. lol....
DeleteSending Happy Birthday wishes to Alex, Spencer and Harry ! You are all such fine young men, who make your parents proud.
ReplyDeleteHope you recieve lots of nice presents and cake......
~Jo
Thanks, Jo...you're so sweet to bring wishes! :)
DeleteLove that picture, so sweet. Happy birthday to the boys. We painted our kitchen and dining room gray too and love it.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great color, isn't it? I love it in every room we've used it.
Delete37 weeks is outstanding...you are a trooper! And still are. Did God make you for this purpose? I think so! I was three weeks early with both my girls...they each weighed five pounds (these were separate births, 3 years apart). I cried because I couldn't see them for a few hours. Geesh...you make me shrink in shame! Happy Birthday to Harry, Alex and Spencer!!
ReplyDeleteJane xxxx
lol....The Mister got to hold them right away but I didn't for a few hours, either. Yeah, these guys were big....6.6, 6.2 and 5.1 at birth. I'm still amazed...we were all prepared for NICU and incubators and all the rest. So thankful we didn't have to do any of that!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your boys!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine :)
DeleteI love that picture of you and your new triplets, withTaylor so cutely looking on. I am crazy about birthday celebrations for our children but a part of me always celebrates the mom who did all the labor. (I often buy a little treat for myself on my daughter's birthday.) So, Happy 21st Birthday to your beautiful sons... and happy birth day to YOU.
ReplyDeleteWe've always done birthdays up pretty big, too. I've always thought every new year is a blessing and never to be taken for granted. What a great thing to treat yourself to a little something. Mom's deserve it, don't they? We work so hard and pour ourselves into our kids...even when they grow up! So, thanks...that's a great reminder, Janice! :)
DeleteSo true, Betsy.
ReplyDeleteAwww what a beautiful picture of your boys!! So sad to hear you split your incision.... :( I'm amazed that you delivered big babies being that they are triplets! Some people deliver 5 lbs babies (full term!) I don't get it. Anyways, as long as they're born healthy, that's what matters :)
ReplyDeleteBtw, loving your botanical frames!
Blessings to your boys!!
Yeah, five lbs for a single baby is small! We were really happy they were full term and so healthy...had lots of people praying for that.
DeleteGREAT picture of you and four of your five men.
ReplyDeleteYour kitchen is going to be beautiful!
It's so fun to look at old photos....aw.
DeleteVery impressed with your design talents, the wall colour, and my congratulations to The Mister on his assembly skills both here and the kitchen when cabinet door hanging.
ReplyDeleteVery touching to see the piccie of you and the triplets just 2 days old. They do look big , healthy and strong.
My that 18lbs you carried must have been draining for you.
I wonder, are twins/triplets in the either half of the family ?
Wishing the boys a Happy Birthday for yesterday ~ got here too late !! . . . sorry.
I like the little expression on Taylor's face . . . . dear little chap . . .
An old tune comes to mind, modified:
Thirty tiny fingers,
Thirty tiny toes
Three angel faces
Each with a turned up nose
Three look like Mamma . . . . etc . . . :)
Have a good day . . . :)
. . .and you look even more attractive today than 21 years ago . . . :)
DeleteI have not heard that little rhyme you were singing....so cute.
DeleteNo multiples in either family....it was a total surprise!
Two versions:

Atta Girl, Suza ~ I found the Alma Cogan version this morning but I now remember the Stargazers one as well . . . Shame they didn't do a triplets version . . . Perhaps we should do one for Betsy ~ Bloggers United sing : . . . . lol
DeleteI don't know what happened to my response, but here it is again.
DeleteEddie said "and you look even more attractive today than 21 years ago" and I second that! You really do.
Well, thanks, Keith! Very nice of both of you to say!
DeleteHi Betsy .. Happy Birthday and celebratory week to you all ... Fun photo of you all ... cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteThanks, Hilary....fun memories!
DeleteHappy birthday guys! Congratulations to their dedicated mother!
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Andy! I think we've survived the worst of raising these boys...we've even lived to tell about it. Ha.
DeleteHappy Birthday to all your boys!! I bet that the time has gone faster than you thought it might. The kitchen is looking good isn't it! I have been so behind on reading, but I am trying to catch up! xx
ReplyDeleteSome days faster than others...lol...it seems like they've always been here!
DeleteHappy Birthday triplets! And congratulations Betsy for looking so fabulous in the baby photo.
ReplyDeleteHaha....thank you. I see puffy and tired when I look at myself there....but at that point I had no idea what tired was! Lol...
DeleteHappy Birthday to the boys! I can't even imagine carryine two, much less three! Your reno is coming along nicely..it's going to be so pretty when y'all get finished.
ReplyDeleteIt is moving right along, isn't it? Just a few more weeks to go!
Deleteho ho ho nice new house ho ho ho
ReplyDeletethanks, santa :)
DeleteI was going to comment on your amazing kitchen/house renovation at first (Those botanical prints are just beautiful!) and then I see the equally beautiful picture of you and the kids. Wow! Happy Birthday to the triplets!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Anita! I'm really loving those prints. Nobody wanted them so I got them for the opening bid of $2.50 for the set. Incredible.
DeleteSuch a precious photo of you and your boys. Happy birthday to your triplets! Blessings to all of you.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Betty! :)
DeleteI might be your only reader who didn't realize that you have triplets. Happy Birthday times three for your boys. You don't look much older than they actually are.
ReplyDeletehaha...yes, triplets.....they have autism, are non-verbal...the biggest challenge of our lives, for sure!
DeleteHappy Birthday to your sweet boys! Have fun celebrating in your brand new kitchen in a few days. It's looking great.
ReplyDeleteI am a little late but Happy Birthday to your dear boys.
