I finally did it! Do I get a medal? I love that toaster, is that what they call a retro toaster? I thought you wouldn't post with all the work going on, hammering, sawing, drilling etc.
Yes, you get a medal...and anything else you want. ha. I love that toaster, too! I got it last month at the auctions....not in the trash, but had to bid on it. I loved it...and making 4 at once is wonderful!
I intend to keep posting. You want to see the progress, don't you? (say yes!) One photo each evening to document each the progress, maybe? I don't want to bore every one. Which would be better...a daily progress shot or knock your socks off with the final kitchen?
And the other Brit is second ~ what a great day for Britain ~ just like the rider cup . . . . lol ~ hey Keith Hi Five to you!!! lol Betsy ~ you have worked so hard ~ I remember what it was ;like when we did a reno on our kitchen. But it doesn't look like complete chaos, just organised chaos hahaha! Glad you can still keep the toast coming . . . . . :)
I think we're pretty much set for tomorrow to begin! I got my printer and laptop, etc off my desk and set up in my studio so business can go on without a hitch. The boys seem absolutely fine...it's the pets are are freaking out already. ha.
Yes I thought the computer hardware etc . . . might migrate to the studio . . . Glad it is not upsetting for the boys - surprised the cats and pets are effected - I did not reckon on that . . . haha Just on my way to drive a bus . . . . :)
It's all good...I'm a pretty laid back person, so I'll be fine. Maybe a glass of wine in the evening and I'll be a-ok. If I drink it in the morning, you know I'm buckling under the chaos. lol....
Cool toaster - but the first thing I noticed was the "Keep Calm" sign - how apropos! Personally I would like a daily or frequent update - unless it is a strain in which case... don't! I always think big reveals at the end are kind of fun... but I also like the progress shots. In fact, I was just going to ask you if you had taken a shot of the empty kitchen!
I'll be taking daily photos for my own record anyway, so it wouldn't be any extra work for me...and it would be an easy daily post on the weekdays while he is here...probably 10 in all. I just don't want to bore everyone to death talking about it for two weeks. Cats, birds, and boy posts could be on the weekends. ha.
haha toast is toast No matter where it's made at your coast Hopefully everything stays swell And nothing crazy happens with the reno that you have to tell
Of course we want to see pictures every day! Your next hard part will be, "where do I put everything back?" Since I assume you'll be getting some kind of different layout on cabinets and shelves.
I think that might be the hardest part for me! I already know not all of it will go back. I'm using the opportunity to declutter and purge...which is a good thing!
Glad the guys are doing ok with it all so far. This should be fun to watch. I can't wait to see the whole install done. Bet I am not alone on that! Taria
That's some fancy toaster Betsy. I love how you are making do with the renno... I remember having our fridge in the living room while our kitchen was being redone. Very inconvenient but there are just 2 of us living at home so it wasn't too bad.
I thought ours would be in the living room, too, but I guess it will just get scooted around in the kitchen! So far, so good....but a little crazy today! ha.
Am I first?
ReplyDeleteWhy, yes you are! That should make you less grumpy! ha.
DeleteImpossible, Betsy . . . . . hahahaha!

DeleteFun shot! I have to get one of those signs. Love the look of your toaster too.
ReplyDeleteI've always loved that sign...even before I knew the history. :)
DeleteSuper! I've done this before, but way back in my single days..never with a family. Looks like you got it all under control!!
ReplyDeleteYes, it does look like that, doesn't it..haha...but today is only day one! haha....

I guess if I have a coffee maker in my bedroom, I can have a toaster in the living room! haha....
DeleteIs this one of those "rules are made to be broken" kind of things? haha.
DeleteSometimes you have to go with the flow!
ReplyDeleteYep...this will be one of those times! But looking forward to the end result makes it fairly easy to do!
DeleteHaha, it'll be important to keep your sense of humor over the next several weeks. Glad that things are off to a good start.
ReplyDeleteLove the photos in your previous two posts!
Oh yes...I'm sure there will be a few funny things to share! ha.
Deleteha. so how long will the redo take?
ReplyDeletei have a campstove if you need it...smiles.
About two weeks...just one guy working alone. Might need to borrow that stove! haha.
DeleteHi Betsy - looks like you're prepared ... and with toast on the go - hunger pains will be overcome .. now I can smell toast?! Cheers Hilary
ReplyDeleteYes...and I didn't even burn it! But I guess if any burns, Eddie will take it. ha.

DeleteHow's the gang holding up?
ReplyDeleteSo far, so good! Alex had a cute little smile on his face this morning instead of his usual scowl. :)
DeleteGlad the guys are doing ok with it all so far. This should be fun to watch. I can't wait to see the whole install done. Bet I am not alone on that! Taria
