The Weekend

  1. The view while sitting on my front porch.
  2. Sometimes late at night a group of cats comes in together to eat. Always makes me laugh at the sea of kitties.  Spencer came to get me when Slate wanted to share the chair.  If only Spencer would loosen up and enjoy Slate.  He SO wants to be friends!  He just loves the boys!
  3. We sure had fun at the nascar race!  Our guy won again!  Such a fun day with Taylor and Lauren.
  4. Tiger and Velvet.  Tiger is laid back and relaxed.  Velvet has that fight or flight look with those big eyes.  I think she was afraid I was going to try to pet her.  She needs to loosen up just like Spencer! ha.
  5. Sauteing these three veggies seems to be the beginnings of many yummy meals lately!
  6. A rare daytime moon!
  7. Domino.
  8. Mrs. House Finch, in her understated loveliness.

  1. That flag needs ironing! I'm still surprised that you can fly the flag whenever you like. Over here most of the County Councils (including ours in Leicesterhire) rule that in can only be flown on special days, i.e., the queens birthday, St Georges day, etc., The reason? The ethnic minorities here find it offensive.

I thought the boys loved the cats. I'm surprised.

I saute onions, peppers, wild mushrooms, and lardons (bacon lumps!) and throw some diced white cabbage in near the end of cooking. Surprisingly, it is a popular side dish in Provence with a shellfish meal. Yum..

    1. Strange about your flag! Most people in my neighborhood fly theirs 3 seasons of the year. It's the bad winter weather that makes us take it down...not any minority group. Tell your County Councils they're a bunch of wimps. lol....

No, the boys aren't keen on any animals...they just tolerate them here. But Slate does love them and tries to sleep with them each night.
They leap out of bed or stand straight up to the ceiling until I remove him.

      That meal sounds wonderful....

    2. First comment. I meant that we cant fly the Union Flag when we want to. If I flew the Stars and Stripes here, I would be shot to death at dawn. Twice, just to make sure!

    3. And would they wear "redcoats" to finish you off? ha.

      Delete
    4. I wouldn't really be bothering what color their coats were at that point.

    5. yes, I suppose you would be distracted by other things....pointy things. ha.

    6. I think we should tell our councils they are a bunch of wimps - we should be able to fly the flag whenever we want to.
      I think white coats would be more appropriate Betsy . . . . . . lol

Just last night he snuggled down in their bed with them, much to their dismay, I may add. haha.

  3. Betsy, the kitty parking lot is hysterical! You must have quite a cat food bill. The photo of Slate and Spencer is so touching. When I was a kid in the 1950's a neighbor on our street (Larry Carrier, who owned a contractor business) built Bristol Motor Speedway. We moved to MA the year after it was built, but we heard later on that he became a multi-millionaire when he sold it. Bristol TN/VA was just a sleepy little town before the Speedway. I think it may still be except on race days. Lynne in NC

    1. Actually, it's the flea control bill that is so much! haha. Isn't that a funny picture? The overhead views are hilarious, too.

Oh, I'm sure Larry was thrilled with his profits when he sold that track. It's one of the best in the circuit and I wish it was close enough for me to make it there on a day-trip! The race there is this coming weekend!

  6. What fun at the race..up close and personal. Oh the convention of cats in your kitchen...how cute. Oh how Slate wants to be friends. Such cute pictures. We explored the little town of Monrovia today. Really cute.

  7. Nice secluded view from the porch.
Shame Spencer can't let go and take to Slate . . . Slate does seem a very affectionate cat.
Love the piccie of Taylor and Lauren - they look so bright and looking forward to the race . . . .brooom broom!
Loved the action shots of the race . . . I saw the end of it . . . . so exciting and the interview with your winning guy. Apart from being a big hunk of beef he looks a nice guy and is very articulate and is pretty good driving a car as well . . . . . rofl
Doesn't Velvet like to be petted ?
    Hello domino . . .
    Food looks delish!!
Your camera came into its own and is great for action shots - stopping the cars to shot lots of detail.
Jeff Gordon was no 24 wasn't he?

Great selection . . . . . and afre all that I am certainly not first but maybe last - do I get a consolation prize? . . . lol

    1. Look at you getting interesting in Nascar! haha. Yes, my camera did very well. I didn't think about it, but I should have tried some slow shutter speeds to get that blurred look! Next time...

No Velvet won't let me pet her. She's the mom to 9 of the cats. I think she must have been abused at some point. She trusts me enough to feed her and she'll sleep inside but doesn't want to be touched. She's sweet on Tiger, though...and snuggles to him. :)

  9. What fun pictures! I've never been to a race. Maybe I need to put it on my to-do list. There's a track in town and I can hear the engines roaring on race nights. It's a fun place for local racers and every once in a while a little bigger name too.

    Cats, cats, cats. :0)

The man says to save money on your remodel, gather all your information together before you start (appliances, flooring, cabinets, counter tops, faucets, lighting, etc...). Know what you want and don't change the plan midway through the job. It'll save time and money for both you and the contractor. I'll add that being friendly is good, but don't waste the guys time chewing his ear when he could be getting the job done. How's that?

  11. I love the picture of Spencer and Slate! Ha ha . . . it almost looks like a stand-off with Spencer going, "no way!" and Slate, "I love you, I love you, I love you!"

  12. Looks like you had great seats for the race! Or, are all seats pretty much really great? I think Jeff Gordon should pay for you to go to all the races as you are obviously his good luck charm.

    1. We did have good seat...at the very top so we could see the entire track.
I think he should fly me to all the races, too! How fun would that be! haha. Of course I'd do it...lol...

  13. Ha! Slate and Spencer look like they are having a sharing contest. Who will blink first! I wish the boys loved animals... I thought though that Alex didn't mind Slate as much as Harry and Spencer. Either way, with so many cats just think how over-the-moon they would be if they liked animals! I am laughing at that sea of fur.

I love the picture just under Taylor and Lauren - such a riot of colour between the cars and the people in the stands. Great photo.

I like how Tiger has a paw out sort of protecting Velvet in case, God forbid, you try to pet her! :-)

I often start meals with onion, garlic, mushrooms and butter. What could go wrong after that?

And isn't Mrs. House Finch pretty? Fun weekend photos!

    1. It's Harry that is a little better with animals. He isn't scared of them and will pet them if we encourage him too. He likes horses and will ride one. The other two would rather die. lol....

    2. Anything that starts with garlic has to be good, right? ha. yum!

    3. Yes - Harry is the one I meant to say - not Alex. I remember you posting recently that he would sort of smile at his brothers as they tried to escape Slate's bedtime cuddling. Too funny!

    1. Nine it was having dinner
Barely half, 15 would have been a winner!

You would have laughed at me today.
There was a spider here at my bay.
His body was as big as a nickel.
with huge long legs that gave my spine a tickle!
Looked like one of those recluse wolf type
that can really hurt you if they bite.
So I grabbed my can of tongue numbing spray
and froze him dead, much to his dismay.
I did apologize to him as he died
      and gave a little sigh.
Sorry, I said, but you are too big for me to squash
as getting that close would be too much!
      Could be messy, too
which would give me the willies at my zoo.
Then I sucked him up in the vacuum attachment
with the long handle that fits on the contraption
Now we can sleep in peace
and not dream he is creeping about the place.
Got bit too many times last year
which gives me a little fear.
Don't like things crawling on me in the night.
The thought of that just gives me a fright.
Give me a snake any day
but keep the spiders out of my way!
lol.....geesh, I got a little carried away there.
Tell all the spiders to beware!

      Delete
    2. lmao spiders beware
      when entering your lair
      frozen to death
      No longer having breath
      And sucked up to boot
Better off sending in a newt
at least you didn't get bit
But yeah I sure would have laughed at it hahaha

      Delete
    3. And yes, I held my breath as I did spray
so my tongue didn't get numb from that display.
You should have seen the size of that thing
gives me shivers even today at my wing.
Didn't even want a cat to get near.
That thing was poisonous, I fear.
The moral of the story is 'don't mess with her'
of she'll freeze you do death and make your toes curl.
      hahaha.....

      Delete
    4. hahaha and better yet you know it works
And can kill all with its numb perks
      As been there done that
Killed you tongue for a while flat
