- I was out looking at the moon last night. It seemed so far away and made me feel like a tiny little soul down way down on the earth. It sure was beautiful...that color! No editing! It looks like a slice of cantaloupe... or maybe a sweet potato chip?
- One cool thing that happened today while I was out was a red tailed hawk swooping down and flying very low in front of me. He continued down the road a ways as if he was my escort! Lonely little road with tall corn fields on either side.... It made this city girl who lives in the country smile really big (and wish she had her camera!).
- Have you ever seen a neat cloud shape but by the time you could take a picture, it had morphed into something not so neat? We were out driving Saturday evening and there were two giant scuba divers in the sky. They were complete with flippers, air tanks and bubbles coming from their mouths. Amazing! They immediately went behind a grove of trees as we went around a bend and by the time they were in sight again, they were just clouds. Plain old clouds. Sigh!
- All this fresh fruit of the season and I haven't baked anything with it! Not even zucchini! We've been good and healthy, just eating it fresh. But I bought extra blueberries today because the summer can't go by completely without something a la mode! Something like blueberry pie with flaky, real butter crust made from scratch. Oh yes.
- I have some of my drawings on sale in my shop and someone put together a treasury using my window drawing! Her theme was 'Is Anyone Home?" How fun! Take a look. Can you pick out my artwork? HERE.
- I bought a big box of Tootsie Pops for the boys today and there was a new flavor inside. Strawberry Watermelon. Harry is going to be most pleased when he gets home and finds out! He does love a watermelon flavored sucker!
Lately when I look at the moon, the song "Somewhere Out There"
from An American Tale comes to mind. So I just hum as I look!
(or if I'm by myself, I might sing into my wooden spoon mic. ha.)
"Somewhere out there, beneath the pale moonlight ♪♪♪"
Aw, little Fievel! He was so cute.
♥
Don't you have stars in Ohio? I mean the twinkle twinkle ones, not the Hollywood ones.
ReplyDeleteNot last night...it was totally black with that orange crescent!
DeleteIt wasn't hard to pick out your drawing on Lisa Wells site cos it's got "Song Sparrow Treasures" plastered all over it!
DeleteWell, yes that is true! haha.
DeleteYe Gods! First again. Eat your heart out Eddie.
ReplyDeleteAnd look at you!
DeleteI have to let you win sometimes, Keith . . . lol
DeleteCome to think of it I haven't been first myself for a while. You see good things are worth waiting for . . . . lol
ha. i remember seeing american tale as a kid...and i know the song...
ReplyDeletewhat a cool experience with that red tailed hawk.....
Yeah, it was really cool! I thought he was going to cut across the road but he turned in front of me and led the way!
DeleteNo,he was trying to escape.
DeleteFrom me? hahahaha....was he afraid I'd catch him and make him live at the zoo?
DeleteHaven't watched that movie in a long time
ReplyDeleteDon't even remember the songs chime
Yours has a bird and a cat
I knew that stat
Interesting cloud sight you saw
And the moon sure can awe
Click on the link
Deleteand you, too, can sing at your kitchen sink!
not sure I'd sing such lovey dovey stuff
DeleteThe cats would run away as on their ears it be tough lol
Oh, but if you ever do
Deletemake sure there is a video to view! hahaha....
One of my favorite things to do is follow the Cornell U. red tailed hawks who build their nest on athletic light poles on campus. The lab of ornithology installed nest cams in 2012. The watching begins with the eggs in very early spring and continues into late summer (thanks to devoted bird watchers in Ithaca) who transmit video of the family after the young have fledged. I have 12 ft. ceilings in the central portion of my home with windows up high, so I can see the moon without having to go outside. Lynne in NC
ReplyDeleteOh, I am jealous of your ceilings! How fun to see the moon from inside!
DeleteI love those nest cams! I watched some owls one year for many weeks...very fun!
The moon pic is gorgeous. With John's diabetes, we eat most of our fruits and veggies naturally or plain. I do love cobblers/crisps, topped with ice cream! Yeah for the new sucker flavor - sounds perfect for summer!
ReplyDeleteWe've been good all summer, so it's time for a pie! Then we'll be good again. haha.
DeleteMy that moon looks so small and lonely out there . . . . and you are right we are tiny little souls down here . . . . little specks withing the cosmos, yet all loved by the great architect.
ReplyDeleteShame you dod not have the camera to snap the Red Tailed Hawk - but you were not to know you would get this treat.
Yes cloud formation often reveals surprises if only for a while.
Tonight I am just back from a meal with friends. Right across the country there have been services for peace in the world from 10pm - 11pm when all the lights were switched off for that hour and we sat in candlelight. This coincides with the 100th anniversary of the start of WW1 on 4 August 1914.
We said our own prayers for peace throughout all the trouble spots, Israel/Palestine. Iraq, Syria, Russia/Ukraine . . . etc.
And yes I love the song, "Somewhere Out There" and often hum it . . . . :)
DeleteWhat a great idea...the world sure could use some peace right now!
DeleteYou hum that song? Great minds... haha.
DeleteDid you know that there has been only ONE DAY since the end of WWII when the whole world has been at peace? No conflict whatsoever anywhere that day.
DeleteNo, I didn't know that! Amazing...
DeleteI didn't know either Keith and it is truly amazing
DeleteI found it! And when I saw the Song Sparrow on it, I knew it was the right one. :)
ReplyDeleteYour moon shot is gorgeous!
Yeah, the watermark is a dead giveaway! hahaha....
DeletePretty moon, huh! I love the color!
Hannah just watched "An American Tale" with the kids the other day. It must have been raining again, or maybe we were tired of chasing them. ha!
ReplyDeleteI need to bake something fruity too, but it will likely be banana bread.
:0)
banana bread sounds yummy!
Deletemovies are good for all of those reasons, but especially for not chasing kids anymore. lol....
Can you believe the twins still see some movies like dinosaurios or batman or others they like other time again and again omy!
DeleteSometimes it's fun to watch them again and remember what you thought when you were little! haha...
DeleteI love this song and loved the movie we saw a lot of times with the kids:)
ReplyDeleteWhat fun this lady put your paint in her
theme.
And really touched the theme.
xo
Yes, the theme she did was great...very fun!
DeleteI baked a Saskatoon berry pie today..and served it a la mode..how yum!
ReplyDeletegreat minds! haha...I had to google saskatoon berry! Looks delicious!
DeleteIt is delicious..one of my favorite berries:)
DeleteAmazing! I bought the other day frozen bluberry because I wanna make something with them.
ReplyDeleteIn this time only frozen berries sigh!
Today I baked something you would like but I have other post first.
Are some little veggie tarts really good!
I hope if someone let me a notebook make a post that I have ready!
You have to schedule some notebook time! Oh my! It would be the same for me if I had to share with the boys! Oh dear!
DeleteVeggie tarts...I love that kind of thing! Looking forward to your post!
Great shot Betsy...
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about the clouds! Now you see it.....now you don't!
There was a Kingfisher bird...twice...on the rocks this weekend...and I missed it... TWICE!
We had some beautiful clouds again....and the moon was delightful....
I think you and I wait for the Moon every month!
Yes...a pie....perfect!
Enjoy your evening....
Cheers!
Linda :o)
I have only seen a kingfisher bird once in my whole life! That are beautiful! Hope he comes back and poses for a photo shoot with you!
DeleteI love that crescent moon maybe more than the full moon! haha.
We have kingfishers here too . . . very beautiful birds, usually seen along riverbanks. Now you see 'em, bow you don't! :)
DeleteBeautiful moon - love the colour and shape. Makes one think. I noticed your painting right away - even without the wordmark because until I clicked on it the wordmark was not really showing on my screen. Perfect one for the theme. Today I wandered through the art expo in the Distillery District - had great fun. Bought many things (too many things!) including a few jars of gourmet preserves, some beautiful bracelets made of cutlery handles, hand-painted chocolates, and pumpkin honey. Never tasted it before, never heard of it before... it is delicious!
ReplyDeleteThat art expo sound like loads of fun! I love things like that...such a nice variety of things to look at and buy. That pumpkin honey sounds delicious! I've never heard of it either!
DeleteI love that song too! The moon looks amazing, what a wonderful colour it is. The clouds are amazing sometimes in the shapes and patterns that they make aren't they, and it is amazing how they change and so quickly too from one thing to another and then sometimes stay in the same shape for ages! xx
ReplyDeleteAmazing moon and clouds! It's a wonder I get anything done while I'm always looking at the sky! haha.
DeleteBlueberry pie sounds really good!
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Tootsie Pops has seasonal flavors. I never heard of Strawberry Watermelon before.
The last box I bought have banana flavored ones!
DeleteBeautiful moon!
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you that your drawing was included in that treasury! I picked it out for sure . . . very cute! Can't imagine where the cat looking in idea came from! ;)
A cat ...yes, how unlike me! hahaha....
DeleteI like the song and your moon shot is beautiful. I miss a lot of shots because I don't happen to have my camera on hand. My cell phone camera is sub-par and takes just horrid photos, but I use it if I have no other camera available. I bet he will love the new pop flavor- I haven't had a tootsie pop in years!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know what you mean.....when I got my new camera it just seems so big and bulky to take with me. I do miss having it, though, and just need to start doing it again. I'm missing too many neat shots!
