Cherries

I was drawn to all the beautiful things at the
grocery today!  My favorite purchase was a bag of sweet
cherries!  And I liked them even better when I got home
and put them in my grandma's antique bowl!

    1. Yes - do I get a cherry? . . . lol

    2. What's all that got to do with a bowl of cherries? You been at the pop again?

    3. What have you been drinking this afternoon? ha.

I did buy lemons today, too, but how did you know that? And this morning it was raining hard enough to pull of my red wellies!

    4. haha...Keith and I said the same thing at the exact same time!

    6. Hello Keith I was just wondering whether you are drinking neat Scotch or Gin or maybe Vodka! . . . lol

Just popped back to claim my cherry . . . .

Glad you had a good day Betsy getting the groceries. Did the red wellies inspire you to get the red cherries? . . . :)

    7. Mix up over comments - sorry
Totally unrelated - having trouble commenting and have to resubmit after copying. Meant to say I am first but previous comment was in memory and was posted by mistake. Yes you both noticed at the same time your comments I might have been drinking. I couldn't understand Keith's first comment and thought he had been drinking and then I saw my mistake..

    8. So, who is making lemon jam and wearing red boots?

      Delete
    9. A poetry friend from Magpie - a very nice lady blogger who got married last week. Likes making lemon jam but for some reason wore red boots - I thought it was kind of funny hence the comment . . Keith must think I am really drunk :)

  2. I've heard tell that cherries contain too much 'Desamitaline N' and therefore are very bad for members of the fairer sex. I wouldn't recommend that you eat them. Just pop them into a padded envelope and send them to me express post and I'll eat them for you. Can't say fairer than that can I?

    1. How chivalrous of you to offer to eat them for me! Desamitaline N? Sounds like something you made up to steal away my cherries! And here I was going to make you a pie. It is your favorite, I believe!

      Delete
    2. Would I do a thing like that? No, if you eat to many of them you are likely to get another dose of the coli-wobbles. How did you know that cherry pie is my all time favourite?

      Delete
    3. I haven't heard the term coli-wobbles since the boys last watched the original version of 101 Dalmatians! haha. And you told me yourself that cherry was your favorite pie! ..or favourite pie. Or is it piue?

      Delete
    4. I had the coli-wobbles after that commenting error earlier . . . .

    5. Eddie - you put the proverbial foot in the proverbial you know what, didn't you? It was funny though, I'll say that.

    6. Yes - I did and I suppose is was funny as well :)

  7. Fresh fruit is so refreshing..love your cherries in the bowl. I like to find special baskets or bowls to put fruit in. Just makes it nicer, doesn't it?

    1. I keep my fruit in an antique colander, they look really attractive in it. It has the double advantage that as the fruit rots the juices run out all over the welsh dresser. . . . .Groo!

    2. It does make it nicer! I enjoy doing that a lot!

And Keith...I was loving the antique colander..........at first! haha.

    3. The only thing I ever ate too much of once
      was popcorn...a huge bowl...oh, what a dunce.
Didn't eat popcorn again for years
as the smell of it gave me fears.
      haha.

    1. I was only 8 when she died. I really am lacking in the family department, aren't I? ha.
Yes, it's a pretty bowl. I have a few of her things. The bowl is prettier without anything in
it, but it does compliment the cherries beautifully.

    2. You have four handsome sons, a beautiful daughter in law, the Mister, and a host of friends. You are blessed in spite of lack of family, and you are loved.
The bowl is beautiful. Kind of makes me wonder why in the world anyone would want to use it. ;)

    3. Yes, you're right, of course. I do...and I am. But sometimes you just want a mom...or a grandma.
I think I'm in the minority when it comes to using the antiques....I will agree with you there. ha.

    4. I do!
I love using my Mom's stuff...and my thrifty finds....
I too am an orphan Betsy...my dad died when I was 21....my mom 15 years ago....never knew any grandparents...or cousins!
Geesh....sorry to be so depressing...but I do know how you feel♥️
Thank goodness for Miss V....I want to give her plenty of memories...

    5. Yes, I'm finding that too. I miss having a mom. Mine was here and not here at the same time. Lots of days I wish my mom in law would come to visit again even though we're very different. Maybe Wanda can be my mom for a few days in September.

    6. Also....I think I have a bowl similar to that...does it have like a lustre to it?

      Delete
    7. Didn't mean to interfere with your comment Martha...
I am sure Wanda will take very good care of you♥️

      Delete
    8. Not really a luster but it's shiny! It says Made In Germany on the bottom.

    9. Oh, it's fine...we're all chatting here. :)
So...Martha, are you going to California in September?

      Delete
    10. I am going to California. My Darling thought I should go (his idea) and I think that if I pass up the opportunity, I would surely regret it.
Linda, you can pop in on our conversations anytime. I would use the bowl too. I love those kind of things. Maybe one day I'll even use my grandma's china that my mom has packed into her china cabinet. Wanna come for tea?

  17. Sweet cherries...there is nothing like the flavor!
My daughter in law bought me some last week. I have tried to parcel them out so they would last longer. Actually I just ate the last ones this morning.
I do love your special bowl too. I think things always taste better in things that bring good memories with them.

    1. I thought ours would last quite a few days, but the mister sat and snacked with the bowl beside his laptop last night. I didn't say anything but had to laugh when he finished and there was about 10 cherries left! haha.
