Random Thoughts

Jack, through the window screen.

  1. If you give yourself a shiny red manicure and then go out and pick strawberries, it can really distract from finding the fruit!
  2. Things break in threes around here.  In the last week...the outside faucet, the water softener, and the whole A/C Heating system, who's parts were so old they couldn't be replaced, so a whole new one had to be ordered.  Looks like the kitchen renovation dream will be put on hold a few more months. lol...geesh!
  3. In light of being without A/C for the last week, we're especially thankful that it has been cool!  We wouldn't have turned it on anyway!  It's beautiful...rainy one day, blue sky the next and cool enough to wear a sweater.  It is still spring, afterall!
  4. I've mentioned a few times on my blog about The Mister and what terrible luck he has with things going wrong.  We say Murphy, of Murphy's Law is attached to him at the hip!  The other day he met me at the garden center.  I had picked out a cart full of plants and he got three things.  At the checkout, his work gloves didn't have a price tag on them which caused a delay....the bag of grass seed he picked out had a rip in it....and he chose a nice outside clock for the back porch...which we discovered at home, that it didn't work.  Yes you can laugh.  I sure did!
  5. Our garden fountain died.  Is that number four or are we starting on the next three?  lol...help!
  6. Sunday is Father's Day!  We've planned a nice day...all 7 of us....having a special brunch and just hanging out together.  Saturday I think I'll be doing some baking and prep work so I can relax and enjoy the day, too!  We all pitched in and got The Mister a really nice gift.  It has a hilarious Murphy's Law story to go with it that really deserves a post of it's own, which will come some time next week. ha.

    1. Yes, but he laughed, too because it is just so incredible that he has bad luck. haha.
I still need to wrap the gift!

  2. So sorry about the a/c. Always the unexpected! Too funny about your husband's luck. Hopefully you will all have a fabulous time this weekend. Love Jack's pic.

    1. yes, you never know what will break! I'm just thankful we had money in savings to cover it...and it hasn't been hot while we wait on the installation.

  3. For some reason this reminded me of a "jimmy rigged" post which I always thought was "jerry rigged". (Jimmy, Jerry... what's the difference?) Poor Mister. I hope Murphy is kind to him on Father's Day.
We have some major repairs to do too. Maybe one of them will come with new linoleum for my kitchen floor. I can always dream, can't I?

    1. I did a post on Jerry Rigged! The Mister calls it Jury Rigged. lol...and it's something he loves to do with duck tape and such...because he thinks he is a handy man but truly is not.

My kitchen floor needs to be replaced, too...the whole kitchen needs gutted....but I can still cook in it, so we will wait a while. I'd rather have A/C than a new kitchen at the moment anyway...I mean, I get cranky when I'm hot! Even a new kitchen would not cheer me up if I was sweating. lol....

    2. I get cranky when I am cold and it should be warm, especially when it's too far into spring to turn the furnace on. We're out of fuel oil anyway... We sure are hard to please, aren't we? :0)

    3. It is cold! Not so cold for the furnace, but too cold to open the windows! ha. At least if you're cold you can put on a sweater and drink something hot. When you're hot...there's only so much you can take off....lol....

    4. So I've heard. But some days it is almost cold enough for a furnace. That big lake of ours has some great cooling power and when the wind comes out of the north? Brrrrr!

    5. This morning, in Pultneyville, NY (That's like saying Williamson on the lake...), the temperature is 51° with a real feel of 46°. Now that sounds like cold enough for a furnace to me.

    6. Yes, that is cold!!! It's low 50s outside here at night but the house stays in the 60s if we keep the windows closed. So, no sunbathing for you today? Ha. We don't get that lake effect....wow! Stay warm!

  4. I'm with you being glad it hasn't been too hot. Your husband's Murphy's Law condition reminds me of my brother. He ALWAYS has to have do-overs. Anything he buys, orders or has done has to be returned, adjusted, or just doesn't work out. We have learned to laugh about it. Can't wait to hear what Mister's gift is! Did it come from the auction??

    1. He also hates to return things and tries to fix them instead! It really is funny! No, it didn't come from the auction. But you will die laughing at the story leading up to the purchase...a true Murphy's Law story and very comical. :)

  5. Your poor husband! His, "Murphy's Law Condition", must get aggravating!

    1. Yes, a little...but I think we have more fun laughing about it than getting aggravated. I think he's just come to expect it, anyway! lol....

Hope you get all your gadgets working again, A/C and faucet etc.
Yes a sense of humour certainly helps

    1. Guess what? He fiddled with that clock forever and couldn't make it work and declared it broken. I fiddle with in a minute and made it work! haha...then that made the situation even more hilarious! :)

  10. Finally getting to read and comment and my computer wouldn't recognize the site. I told her is was just you, but would she listen. No. Computers can be so stubborn. And google decided he didn't know me. Yeah right. We've been together forever and a day. I've decided I hate passwords and
I want one of those eye scanners. I know the eye is mine as it came with my head and I don't have to remember it.

Anyway. Happy Father's Day to your Mister and Dad of your 4-men. Hope you guys have a great day. Sorry for all the breakage. Replaced our big 5-ton unit last summer. It hurt. *sigh* The 3-ton unit downstairs got a good talking to and is doing well. :D You would not have wanted to be here the last weeks w/o air. Can you say, HUMID! Nasty little stuff. And hot.

Tonight is Honey Moon. Will you get to see it? If you do take a really good pic. Cloudy here and it may not show it's face. Friday the 13th. full moon and won't happen again until 2049. Nope. I'm not that smart...I read it somewhere today. hahaha.

Happy Weekend to you and yours.

    1. It's my favorite girl named Jake! ;) So good to see you and thanks for wading through the security to get here. haha.

I was just out looking for the moon and couldn't find it! Lots of stars...it's clear here...but no moon. I'll check a little later in case it wasn't high enough in the sky yet. I heard about the 2049 today, too! How cool is that?

Yeah, the furnace cost was painful. Yikes. But our house is getting to that age where everything is past it's life expectancy!

ok...out to search for the moon again...

    2. I hear that it’s called a strawberry moon tonight, but I have never heard that term before. I am on my way out to see if I can spot it – it’s been cloudy most of the day.
Maybe the Mister needs to duct tape himself to a chair – that way nothing can happen to him. Although I wouldn’t want to put that to the test!
I am laughing at you grabbing your toes instead of the berries. Not as tasty I suspect. :-)

    3. I heard it was the Honey Moon, too! I found it...it needs to rise a little more to be above the rooftops.

Oh..hahaha...it was my fingernails...not my toenails! Just brushing the plants back and forth with my hands to see the berries...my fingernails were red and making me do double takes!

  11. Ah - I see. I didn't see polish when you were holding the bear-berry so figured it must be your tootsies!

    1. It was like a hidden clue! Ha. And counting money at the auction ruined it anyway, so off it will come today. I think I got some good pics of the moon...haven't downloaded them yet. I about froze out there to do it. Sure didn't feel like a summer night. We should have lit our tiny fire pit!

  16. You can either laugh or cry when things break in batches... I'm glad you can laugh, though it is really annoying to have unexpected expenses. A new kitchen would be a much more fun spend than new A/C!
