Random Thoughts

One of my crab apple trees.

  1. It's May 1st!  We're half way through spring already!  I have a tradition of taking off the flannel sheets on this day and putting the summer sheets on the beds on this day.  Well, we're still quite snug in our flannels, so I'm not going to change them out just yet.  I think this is a first!  So where's that global warming? ha.  I've been freezing all day!
  2. The strawberry patch is lush and is showing lots of blooms.  I haven't produced enough fruit in past years to really enjoy them, but they are looking good this season!  Sometimes a raccoon family will invade and gobble them up.  I've even seen Robins eating them.  My boys eat 8 pounds of strawberries each week. See why I want to grow my own? ha.
  3. I saw my first butterfly of the season!
  4. So here's a question for you.  Do you call each post you write a 'blog'?  Every once in a while I hear someone say they wrote a blog about this or that.  Don't they mean a post?  The blog is the whole site and each entry is a post, right? My OCD flares up whenever I hear someone say it the other way.  It's like not putting the ketchup bottle in the proper spot in the refrigerator. lol....
  5. I flunked bulb planting.  Seriously flunked.  I tried forcing bulbs for Christmas and only got measly little sprouts about a month late.  I bought bulbs late in the fall and put them in the freezer over the winter.  I planted them in pots outside a couple of weeks ago.  Nothing.  Yep, I get an F. ha.  Maybe I should just stick to the regular way of putting them in the ground in the fall.
  6. I washed the boys' winter coats and put them away today.  If I jinxed the weather and it snows, I'll take all the blame. ha.  Although, it did snow in parts of Minnesota yesterday!
  7. It's Wanda and Keith's birthdays today!  Two of my favorite bloggers!  Happy Birthday!

unless I am slow at typing this comment.
then I might be third or fourth.

Great shot of the Crab Apple Tree
Did you know in England those flying insects used to be called Flutterbies? True
Question 4: Definitely not Blog because that is the whole thing, "My Five Men"
    I think the correct phrase is Blog Post . . . . . . . or just Post.
    You have been industrious today,
Happy birthdays to Keith and Wanda

    1. I'm so glad you agree about the blog/post thing. Otherwise, I'd have to unfolllow you! ROFL. ...hahaha....

flutterbies? No, I have never heard that. But, then, you've taught me lots of British words that I would have never otherwise known.
But I did teach you bumbershoot, right? :)

    2. So what are you going to teach me tonight? lol

And you would never 'unfollow me' would you?
Yes you did teach me bumbershoot! If I used that word, Betsy, people would think one of three things:

1, I was making an inappropriate remark
      2. I was stark raving bonkers
      3. I was talking about umbrellas or brollies. (see I remembered!)

    3. Hmmm....I have no idea! You're so much older and wiser than me! hahaha....
I'll think of something while I make dinner and come back to impress. (oh geesh...now I've really
set myself up, haven't I?) lol....

and I thought everyone already knew you were bonkers....

      ok...better duck and run now.....lol....

    4. Honestly! You are so unkind sometimes! I am mortally wounded! and I'm going to have a RANT!!! ROFL
And if I had a Cherokee Tomahawk I would chuck it at you - so there! Eddie's on the warpath!

Enjoy your dinner and you'd better come up with something good to compensate for those dreadful remarks!! LOL
Of course you are quite right when you say I am wiser!! hahaha
and Linda is the only one who thinks I am bonkers!

    5. A rant? Well, why don't you just go and write a BLOG about it? lol....

    6. You've just broken your rule!! . . . . . and called a proposed post a blog.

    10. Alright, Eddie dear, here's my fun fact to teach you tonight....

The cigarette lighter was invented before the match!

      Delete
    11. Well strike a light!! ROFL Fancy that!!
Was it Fred Flintstone? No it wasn't!
I have just looked it up and it was invented a long time before the match.
Love it. Now, my dear can I go to bed?

  3. I'm with you on the post blog issue, but I'm easy, I know what they mean, lol, When I force bulbs I put them in the crisper drawer of the fridge for the cold period, , never heard of putting them in the freezer, still flannel sheets here as well, you have been busy and your photo is beautiful, so is your headder but I have said that before, have a wonderful evening,

    1. Oh, I don't say anything to them, either...but it grates on me like scratching on a chalkboard. ha.

Maybe that's what I did wrong...I froze the poor bulbs! Still, it was -15 F degrees here over the winter. Seems like the freezer would mimic that better than the refrigerator. Yep, flannel sheets are staying a while longer....

  4. You have a blog; you just wrote a post. My own OCD agrees! ;)

I think your crab apple tree is beautiful . . . it looks like your area is about a month behind where I live. I've been missing all the blossoms, so it's nice to get to relive it all with yours! :) Spring just goes too fast, don't you think?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I'm SO glad you agree! (and have OCD!) hahaha....

The blossoms are the best part of spring and they only last a couple of weeks! Sometime we get a storm that blows off all the petals and it's even shorter!

  5. Blog = the whole thing
Post = as you wrote today - and as I haven't done for ages!
Bulbs = plant in the fall, they will be fine underground and you won't be late or forget them. Leave yours too it and see what happens, they haven't been in the ground long, put them somewhere where they will get the sunshine on them to warm them up a little.
    Happy May Day! xx

      A butterfly! Really? Awesome.....
Still fleece sheets for us too!

      Cheers!

As for seasons - maybe skip Summer and Winter, skip between Spring and Fall. Now that I would like!

  14. When I moved to the high desert here one of the moms at the bus stopped told me not to put away the coats until school is out. Usually we are done with them long before then but not always. I would think you write a blog entry or blog post or post to your blog but what do I know? Whatever works I guess. Everbearing strawberries have been found to give us berries most of the summer here. June bearing not so much.

Hm, I think I refer to them as "posts" but I may or may not have been guilty of referring to one post as a blog. I do know that sometimes I say, "I need to blog that". Oh, dear, now perhaps you will unfollow me....
I have strawberry plants that my daughter insisted on giving me when she moved. They've invaded my square foot garden and will be promptly removed if they do not produce.
PS. We're all fighting a little bit of OCD.
