Happy

Things that made me happy today....

  1. Snow.  It's bright, lovely and covers the brown, barren earth.  It sparkles in the sun.  And you can turn it into ice cream.  More on that some time soon!
  2. I ran errands all day today.  When I came home, I noticed one of my earrings was missing.  Aw.  How sad.  It was my favorite pair...14KT and sterling hoops.... and the ones I was wearing when Taylor was born.  It would be impossible to trace my steps and look for it!  And besides that, the boys were due home soon and I didn't have time!   I did think it would be worth it to at least go to the pharmacy, which was my first stop and close to home.  So I drove there and looked through the snow.  Nothing.  I asked at the counter. Yes!  It had been found and turned in.  Wonderful!  And thank you, God! (Yes, I did pray for my earring to come home! ha.)
  3. Slate came back today.  He even stepped inside to eat and stayed about 10 minutes.  The cats all gathered around and sniffed at him, but nobody hissed.  I'd say that was an improvement.  Slate did, however, sniff out Nugget, and I didn't feel comfortable leaving them alone.  I think he thought Nugget might be dessert!  Slate got a little too close for comfort and Nugget snorted and charged at him! ha.  Interesting that he knew Slate was not part of the family.
  4. Baking, with giving in mind. :)
  5. My Alex, with the typical serious face, giving a little ha-ha-ha and smirking with that crooked smile of his.
  6. A kiss from Spencer that had a loud 'smack' to it.
  7. It's my 6th Blog anniversary!  Yep, on 2-12-08, I started this little blog.  It's become so much more fun than I ever dreamed it would!  :)

  2. Things I like today...being first on your blog..anyway it looks like.

Love all your list...but I must say, getting your special earring back..That is a God thing. I lost the diamond from my little solitaire ring when we first got married at a basketball game....losing special things is hard. Finding them...Priceless.

    2. The Mister lost his wedding band bailing water outside, trying to prevent our house from flooding during a torrential downpour, many years ago. It was right in our front yard, but we never did find it...even used a metal detector!

    2. I'll do a post about it one day but Maria once thought she had dropped her Mum's ring down the toilet and she was heartbroken. It was dark and outside I erected a halogen light and removed a manhole cover to the sewer and used my cricket bat which fitted the half sewer shape and then got my daughter to flush some toilet paper, hoping it would push out the ring and I could catch it with my bat. We did this for half an hour until I heard a shriek from upstairs. It was Maria - she had found the ring on top of the toilet cistern - thank goodness. The neighbours thought I was stark raving bonkers ROFL

    3. Oh my goodness. You will certainly have jewel in your crown for doing such a wonderful (yet smelly) good deed! haha. How wonderful that the ring was found. Something simlar...just recently I dropped one of my diamond earrings down the bathroom sink. Fortunately, I knew right away and didn't run any water and the mister was able to find it in the pipe just below the sink.
I however, wasn't so lucky one time when my contact lens went down the drain. haha.

Great news about your earing, your instincts of where to look were just right, they are obviously very special to you so that really is the best outcome! Happy Wednesday as it is here now! xx

    2. This week we've gotten two earrings (costume jewelry), a winter scarf, a nice pair of gloves, and two bags containing purchased mall merchandise. Both of the bags were claimed within an hour.

We got some beautiful lake effect snow today. So pretty!
I need to be more grateful that children get me up and moving about early in the morning. The snow is especially pretty then.

  14. Glad you found your earring! I lost one of my favorite pair a few years ago and never found it--it was the first Valentine's Day gift my husband gave to me the first year we were married. Broke my heart to lose it!

  15. I have lost a few pieces of jewellery over the years - always breaks my heart. One in particular was a pair of beautiful Nefertiti 24kt gold earrings that my parents brought me from Egypt. I loved them. The gold was so yellow. I lost one while at a friend's in the winter. Guess what? In the spring they found it on their driveway! Could not believe it. And it was still in one piece despite the fact that 24kt gold is quite soft. But... I lost it again. Sigh. Apparently wearing Nefertiti can bring bad luck. And I think it did!

Yay! Slate is back - I was hoping he would be. But yes, I suppose it best to keep an eye on them until he becomes used to bunny.

Congratulations on your blog anniversary. For some reason, I have it written down as Feb. 13 and I was going to wish you a happy one before anyone else did! I guess I misread one of your past posts. Oh well. Congrats!!! xox

    1. I agree with Vince on the beauty of Egyptian jewelry! Now what was wrong with that earring that it insisted on being lost!? ha.

You know if you saw an old post about an anniversary, I could have updated it the next day, which would have made the posting the 13th. Can't believe it's been six years. Lots has changed since then!

  16. Smiles and kisses from your boys. That just warms my heart! I'm so happy for you too that you found your earring.

To Suza I would say that your earrings was certainly a wanderer! Egyptian jewelry is particularly beautiful.

And to Eddie, you certainly do get some kind of award for the lengths you went to in trying to locate that ring! Way to go, chap.

And finally, lovely lady, my most sincere congratulations on your blog anniversary. The blogging community is better off with people like you. I think I speak for most of your commentors when I say that you enrich our lives with your posts and we admire you greatly for your sweet and happy look at life when it has been quite difficult for you in many ways. I always leave here better than when I came and that is a wonderful thing in this day and age.
