This And That

  1. Red D'anjou pears.  Their color was irresistible while I was shopping!
  2. Three Amigos ~ Cocoa, Smokey and Cinder.
  3. New bamboo cutting boards.  I'm loving them!
  4. It appears fairies have built an igloo in the back yard to protect themselves from the frigid arctic air!  It was -5F this morning!  That's -20C!
  5. Cozy.
  6. Homemade chicken vegetable soup, spiced up with some Cholula.
  7. New in the shop tonight.  Cake stand and 10 dessert plates.  Gorgeous pattern!
  8. The last leaves, determined to stay on the branch.

    1. I went out and got 8 cups of snow and put them in the freezer but haven't made it yet. Tomorrow for sure! I'm interested in what it will be like!

  2. My first thought was apples, but thought they had a strange shape. Darling kitty picture. They know how to cuddle. I saw that beautiful pattern on your fb. Very pretty. Nice cutting boards. Are they large?
Soup looks good..doing old fashioned meatloaf and scalloped potatoes tonight. Haven't done that in a long time.

    1. One is large, the other small. I rubbed olive oil in them before using them. They clean up very nicely.

I love meatloaf...I bet it's smelling good in your kitchen!

  3. haha rose between two thorns there
As they all try to sit on the mat at your lair
I guess mats are easier on the feet
Or they think tearing them up is neat

    1. I couldn't have posed them like that if I'd tried!
But it was cute, I won't lie!
There's a heat vent behind them there.
a favorite sleeping spot at my lair.

    2. Surprised they stayed there while you snapped a pic
Mine always run or come and try to chew the cord when I go click

    3. They moved as soon as I did the snap
but as you can see, I got the last laugh.
      :)

  4. Love the three amigos! Cocoa and Cinder look like mirror images of each other.
I would love some of that soup right now. Perfect comfort food for this frigid weather.

  5. I like the picture of the 'Three Mus-kat-eers' giving you the evil eye. . . .was their cat food lumpy tonight?

  7. Have just cracked the query about the snow hole. It is the invisible man on a pogo stick.
    Those cats look very inquisitive.
Love the pears and the soup.
Like the design v much on the plate - looks very distinguished.
Gosh those leaves are hanging in there.

    1. The Invisible Man? Well, I never would have thought of that one on my own. haha....Thanks for clearing that one up! :)

    2. Of course like Keith says they could be the three Mus-Kat-eers - but they may just be MeerKats posing to have their photographs taken with your Hot Nikon CoolPix lol

    3. They do stand on their back legs like Meerkats sometimes. I think it's adorable when they do that. :)

  8. Love the red and black theme in the couch/cat shot. Beautiful pillow. Those three kitties look very intent on business - waiting for freefalling food!

Never tried a red d'Anjou pear before... they look so tasty. I love pears but for some reason I am not good at choosing them in terms of ripeness. And yes, I use the paper bag trick at home... but just don't seem to have much luck. I will have to keep trying.

    1. When I buy pears they are usually rock hard and it takes 5-6 days for them to ripen up. Bartlets are the easiest to tell if they are ripe because they go from green to yellow. The others I just press lightly by the stem and when it gives, you know they are ripe. But you have to be patient. I just leave them on the counter in a bowl.

    2. Thanks for the tips - I will try with renewed vigour!

  9. Cholula? It's in the middle of the night here and I had to rub my eyes and look at that word again!

I really do enjoy your posts, pretty lady. You have an eye for beautiful that comes through each photo.

Alright, off to the Land of Nod before the sun comes up! Cherrio!

    1. Well, if that doesn't take the biscuit! I had no idea! I do like spicy food and that would surely warm me up on this cold evening! Are you keeping warm today? Your cold weather is still making the news here! And thanks to you, milady, I now know where Ohio is and can find it on the map in no time at all. (smiling).

    2. I'm trying to keep warm! But it's so windy outside, it is making the house feel chilly! The snow isn't falling down, it is blowing completely sideways! Just the howling sounds cold! Glad I don't have to be anywhere but home today! :)

    1. Hi Brian - I'm Suzanne... hope you don't mind if I comment on your post. I think that's wonderful of you to support your friend in this way. I have many Canadian Ukrainian and American Ukrainian friends and they are devastated by what is happening in their homeland now. I am glad your friend is able to help a child in need, and it's great of you to help him achieve that. Hope you are able to grab a cat nap!

  12. Yesterday I saw a critter track on top of the snow, but didn't get out to take a photo before the wind came along and erased it.
I love how your cats are friends. Wish mine did more than just tolerate each other, but I do know cats are usually solitary and territorial. I still love them and maybe their solitary lifestyle is part of the reason.
I am going out into the snow today. I wonder what I'll find?

    1. I'm sure it helps that my cats are siblings. Cocoa isn't actually related and he's a stinker on top of it, so the adjustment has been long...just this week I've seen some improvement.

We have blowing and drifting snow this morning! And it's supposed to get even colder...-19 in a few days! Whoa!

  13. Think I might "borrow" your "this and that" theme...would that be ok with you?
Sometimes I have a few photos, that just need to be showcased....in this format....
    Hope you are enjoying your day....Miss v napping...she slept right til 8am....what a sweetie♥️
We are still blowing and huffing and puffing snow here today.....some of the windows with screens, are covered in snow!
    Cheers!
