    1. I do, too! I have found several at the auctions left for the trash. Not many people want them, I guess!

    2. Not many in this day and age see the need to have one at all. But I collect them and so do you, milady. I would wager a bet that I have more than you do!

    3. Well, I only have five. One I bought at a second hand store years and years ago. It's small and has a pretty cover. The other four I found in the auction trash! You probably have shelves like Edward Gorey, right? haha.

    4. Well, I do have quite a few more than you. I won't take the time to count them at this late hour. You keep adding to your collection and when you are as old as me you will have a brilliant display and a place to put your leaves and love letters and whatever else you may want to hide away for safe keeping.

The hour is late. Thank you for the charming conversation, lovely lady. Until tomorrow!

    5. I thought you might be interested to know or maybe entertained to know that I counted my dictionaries and I have 18. Some are true antiques and are first editions! There weren't as many words back then, as you can imagine. After I counted them all I took a feather duster to the entire shelf. See how you inspire me, milady? Thank you for that. Now, I sit and wait for your next posting! I see you were off to the auction today and I am musing as to whether your post will be about your day, Betsy.

    6. Well, look at you...dusting your bookshelves. ha. I have a lot of shelves myself that are always needing dusting. Eighteen is quite the collection of dictionaries!

I did post about an auction find! :)

      and um....milady?

  3. Rushed to get here, and I'm still not first. Oh well, I'm usually last!!

Another tick on your list Betsy. I've done my October list - not quite complete - I will post a new list next week for November (shorter!).

Hope you have a happy weekend. xx

  4. Check!
Another one checked off your list.
Today, when I was out on my walk, I saw so many wonderful leaves and thought about your list.
So, you use an old dictionary, cute.

    1. My grandma pressed leaves like that...it's a nice remembrance of her. She died when I was only eight....I feel like I missed so much losing her early like that. :(

Our leaves haven't peaked yet...we're a few weeks late! Still need to take my drive but was waiting for more color! Hopefully this next week!

    3. I know! We're a few weeks late! For every lovely red tree there are 4 or 5 green ones!

  5. Awww...I didn't know that about her. So nice that you are carrying on the tradition. That can be very comforting.

    1. When I was younger, we had an old scrap book that she had full of pressed leaves. I used part of it for a school project. Fun memory. :)

    1. haha....no maples and oaks over there? You could press a palm leaf...if your dictionary is big enough! lol....

    2. Betsy, you have me laughing so hard. We do have a Oak across the street but it's leaves are still green... Perhaps I need to go to Desconso Gardens and pick a few (yikes, is that stealing?)

    3. hahaha....I was thinking if you had one of those HUGE old family Bibles, it might be big enough for a small palm leaf! :)
I say the leaves are free for the taking...as long as you don't pick the tree bare. ha. We have so many trees that are still green! My crab apple is a brilliant gold now and the sun hitting it today was just stunning!

    4. Thanks Betsy...Now I can pick a few w/o feeling guilty...If someone stops me, I'll say Betsy said it was OK! HaHa.

  13. Beautiful colors. Red is my favorite. The trees look like they are on fire.
That list is dwindling down. With the long winter ahead you might have to make an in between lists list. :)

    1. Red is my favorite, too! Yes, the list is looking like I'll finish it by Thanksgiving without too much trouble! I think I'll do a winter list starting in January. December is just for Christmas. Didn't think I'd post a December list, but it might be fun, too. I'll have to think about that.
