Good Gracious! Those old mits look like something the dog dragged in. Or the cat (or cats) in your case! Are those holes, too? I say the new ones are much more presentable!
And could I be first? Where is Amy? Gloria? The Silver Fox?
Yeah, I could feel the heat a little too much through those holes! These new ones were in the clearance beside my new little pumpkins...reminding me that I needed them...and into my cart they all jumped! ha.
Third? Sorry for your loss, The Silver Fox. Maybe a dual tomorrow? Who can lurk the best? Or should I say who can lurk the fastest? Cheerio and Good night!
Before I read that you bought them, I was thinking oh my, not only wool mittens, but now oven mitts. You have completely inspired me. I have a large drawer that holds my limited supply of ribbon, bags, tissue paper, bubble wrap, etc....it was a HUGE MESS. I just kept cramming things in and could hardly shut it. Today....It is completely organized and I'm ready to begin any wrapping for Christmas. Thanks Betsy!!!
What a great little project! You are all ready! I just did that, too while moving into my studio...all the wrapping stuff is in the closet. So nice to have it all in one place and ready to use.
I am in serious need of some new ones as well. Getting a little too toasty when I lift things out of the oven. There are no holes but their stuffing seems to be wearing thin. I have been debating about purchasing silicone ones with a cotton liner but they seem so... industrial. Your new ones look pretty and perky!
You know, someone gave me silicone ones as a gift one time and I could feel the heat right through them! It was as if they conducted heat instead of protected from it. I wonder if the cotton liner would help? At least you could wipe them clean. Mine always seem to find their way into the food. ha.
I think that a well worn oven mitt is a sign of a good cook!! The new ones are lovely though and they sound like a steal at 50 cents!! Happy cooking and mittening. xx
Georgina has a point! I wear polka dot suspenders with my checked tie! And yes, I tell people that I did it on purpose!
Enjoy your concert and dinner tonight, Sunshine. You deserve a night out to be wined and dined! But I suppose that means you will not be posting at your usual hour. Maybe I won't lurk as urgently as I usually do.
Polka dots and checks? Well, years ago that would have been frowned upon, but I noticed this year especially that anything goes when combining patterns! And polka dots are all the rage!
I doubt if I'll post at all, so you can rest easy. Won't be home until very late. lol....
They bear honourable scars. It's better the scars are on them than on your pretty wrists. My mum always used to have burns on her wrists. I don't think oven gloves were as effective 'in the olden days'.
Every time I get new oven mitts I hate to use them They are so pretty So I use the rubber one I bought at the superstore. The material ones I like to hang on the wall. lol

ReplyDeleteI say the new ones are much more presentable!

Yeah, they were a little past their prime, don't you think?
DeleteLooks like you beat everyone else!
That's my reward for lurking! Now I'm off to bed as it's way past my bedtime.
DeleteGood night, Sunshine. Enjoy those mits, now!
Old oven mitts are dangerous!
ReplyDeleteThe new ones are fresh and pretty.

ReplyDeletehaha...are you burning yourself through the holes, too?

Deleteoo i like the orange one...nice bright colors....
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how long I'll be able to keep the white one white! :)
DeleteGood for you! Safer and very pretty too.
ReplyDeleteYeah, no more burnt fingers!
DeleteI think that a well worn oven mitt is a sign of a good cook!! The new ones are lovely though and they sound like a steal at 50 cents!! Happy cooking and mittening. xx
ReplyDeleteI like that...I'm going with it! haha.
DeleteStylish.
ReplyDeleteand cleaner! :)
DeleteI love the way they completely don't match. Just like everything we have doesn't match. Very stylish!
ReplyDeleteand I didn't choose that...they were the only two left. But they are a nice compliment to each other. :)
DeleteDon't TELL anyone you didn't choose the mismatch on purpose! It's stylish and cool not to match. That's what I tell everyone anyway.
Deletehaha...ok...good idea! :)

One of life's simple pleasures . . .
ReplyDeleteAnd - orange is my new favorite color.
Is it? I didn't used to like it at all, but it has grown on me over the years...it's beautiful..bright and warm.
DeleteThe old ones look amazingly familiar!! LOL! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI think we all have some of those!
DeleteHigh time, I'd say! Mine look even worse than your old mitts! All together now, can we say SHOPPING?
ReplyDeleteYep,...it's time, Helen! And the holidays are the perfect time to get some fresh ones.
DeleteThey bear honourable scars. It's better the scars are on them than on your pretty wrists. My mum always used to have burns on her wrists. I don't think oven gloves were as effective 'in the olden days'.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I can't use pot holders....I always burn my arm or wrist! Have to go with the mitts. :)
DeleteHey, those look like mine...except one of mine has a hole in the thumb!
ReplyDeletehaha...ooh...careful..that sound more dangerous than mine!
DeleteEvery time I get new oven mitts I hate to use them They are so pretty So I use the rubber one I bought at the superstore.
ReplyDeleteThe material ones I like to hang on the wall. lol
Do you? Oh, I'm the opposite...I like the stuff I use to be pretty...and when it wears out, it's a good excuse to get new. lol....
DeleteI love the new ones because they really scream out Autumn to me, just awesome.
ReplyDeleteThey do say autumn, don't they? I might have to look for some Christmas ones here in a few weeks! ha.
