Killing Two Birds With One Stone

Crossing a few more things off my Fall Fun To Do List!

First, I bought "those boots I've always wanted"!
I went boot shopping!  I wanted black leather boots that
came up to my knees.  Something my skinny jeans could
slide into.  Something low-heeled with a buckle accent.
And I wanted to find them on sale!
I walked into DSW with that criteria in mind and walked
straight back to the clearance shelves.
There was one pair of boots on clearance in my size.
And they also were everything I had in mind!
Ralph Lauren, all leather, etc, etc.
Not only were they on clearance, but they had
an additional 50% sticker on them!
Yep, they were just meant to be!  I tried them on,
paid for them, and was on my way in 10 minutes. ha.

Secondly, I took a walk in the crunchy leaves!
Although since we've had rain and humidity, they really
were very crunchy!  But it was fun anyway.

I didn't really stone a bird, haha, but I did see Mrs. Robin
in my crab apple tree when I got home.
"Good grief, did you fly south from Linda in Canada?
This isn't far enough south for you yet!
You need to fly down to Jake in Georgia!"

  4. Those boots were meant to be! Lucky you.

We had a lot of rain the other day, too. When I walked yesterday I had to be careful not to slide on the wet leaves.

    1. Aren't they beautiful!? Our neighbors have huge trees and I have enjoyed watching their leaves fall to the ground. They have raked huge piles three times already!

  6. Those boots were made for... walking. :)

Pretty pics and we still have plenty of Robins here in the County. I saw hundreds today... on the move.

    1. haha...but I won't "walk all over you..." ♪♪♪ :)

I'm sure this robin was from your country and on it's way further south. I bet I saw half a dozen today!

  7. Oh, I loooooove those boots. Weren't you the lucky one. Our leaves are mostly down and wet too... but I love the smell and I still try to kick through them a bit. Used to love having big bonfires when I was a kid. Can't do that anymore in the city though.

    1. yes, I was the lucky one! Never dreamed I'd find exactly what I was looking for so easily! We can't burn leaves here, either, but that smell reminds me of my childhood...a wonderful memory of fall!

  8. Your boots are gorgeous!! I love them. Glad you did some more fun things. It's funny here with the migrating birds, ours fly south, and the birds from Scandinavia and Russia come here. An odd state of affairs. Happy leaf crunching. xx

    1. It is a little odd, isn't it? We have birds all winter...don't see how they survive when the temps are in single digits!

Another gorgeous fall day here...can't stop looking out the windows! :)

  9. You might be the only woman on the planet the was in and of a shoe store in ten minutes and still made a purchase. :-) The boots look pretty cool but I'll be staying with my Merrell shoes.

    1. haha...and only one purchase! A friend of mine said since if it was her, she would have shopped longer and bought more since she got such a good deal on the boots! haha.

  10. Great shopping! And your fall to do list (how do you find the time to write the list never mind DO the stuff?) reminds me I must buy some bulbs and some bleeding hearts for my new flower bed. I just love white bleeding hearts.

    1. I bought my bulbs...just wasn't sure if it was too early to plant them. I don't want them springing up in this bright sunshine we're having! lol....

love bleeding hearts...still need to divide mine. My one bush is huge and I'd love for it to line a flower bed I have.

    2. I should think it was just the right time to plant bulbs. Not exactly sure where you live but I guess your autumn/winter schedule is a bit more advance than here in London. Mind you, I was SO late planting last year. I damaged my foot and couldn't do any gardening for months, and then we had such a wet winter we thought everything must have drowned but most of my bulbs came up eventually. They've very forgiving.

    3. That's a good point. I saw some beautiful picture on Pinterest of bulbs blooming from pots on a porch and they said they planted them in the fall so they would bloom in the spring. It was so lovely! I plan on doing that on my back porch. The summer flowers that were in the pots have all died due to the frost. It's probably time to do the switch! :)

    4. Looking forward to seeing photos of your porch in spring.

    1. haha....let's go! :) Haven't played the lottery in probably 25 years when we'd pool together at work. Maybe I should rethink that...lol.... and don't worry..I'd give you a cut for the idea! ha.

No hurting birds here...I'd take the stone for them. :)

  14. haha thought you might be killing birds
Because the cats were being lazy turds
Or you were trying to save on cat food at you sea
Glad it was just boots and leaves and you didn't go on a murdering spree lol

    1. haha....that would be a sick way of feeding cats
I would have nothing of that.
They do well in hunting their own

  17. Oh you lucky girl! LOVE the boots! I was looking at a pair of Frye boots whilst out shopping and they looked just like your boots. Nope. Didn't buy them. Way too much money but they were lovely. I was still thinking about them this morning. 25%off sale today so I guess that is why they were on my mind. ;)

I doubt Mrs. Robin will ever make it here. She has heard about your place! WELCOME EVERYONE so she's decided to take a chance on you protecting her from the cats. Although I may see her yet if she gets wind of the neutering/spaying thing going on. :D
Hope Cocoa does well. My son told his Boxer when he took him in and Shox whined about being left at the vet that he would thank him someday when he never had to pay puppy support.

    Happy Weekend

    Love your boots!
    Love the not-so-crunchy leaves!
    Love Mrs. Robin!
My Darling thought it time to clean up the leaves.
He does not appreciate them in quite the same way as I.

  19. Oh fabulous boots, Betsy! I do love everything from Ralph Lauren anyway. I am desperately looking for favourably grey ankle booties. You did not happen to see some in your miracle shop? On the other hand, if I had to add the price for a flight ticket, it certainly wouldn´t be a bargain any longer...
    Have a nice Sunday
