yeah, I don't fill it in the summer and fall...plenty of seed around for them with the plant life. But once the frost hits, they come to the feeder. I just started filling it again last week. If you start, you can't stop or they will starve. But why would you want to stop? I enjoy them too much.
"Hey Betsy, you lookin at me???" "Yes, and I've got my camera right here!" Love your little feathered friends, and the magnificent captures you get from your window.
I moved the feeder up a little high since Shadow was getting them by and by. Not the jays...but other birds as he'd jump from the ground without saying a word. lol...
Remember when you asked if my 14 was a little low? I forgot that Freckles had earlier joined the show. But she didn't come back after that week. So I can't claim her to make the number peak. ha.
Enjoyed your blurb about Spencer. It's great that not only is he laughing and "getting" the funny moments, but he's looking at you and sharing in the fun with you.
Hi Betsy, I love your pictures of your beautiful native birds! And I am looking forward to the ones to come! Today I will start feeding our birds properly. It has been raining for days and is getting quite cold. Christel
It is SO dark and rainy here today! And I'm glad I get to stay home and not be out in it! Yes, you're like me...start the feeders when the cold hits. The variety of birds that have shown up this week has been amazing! Woodpecker, titmouse, cedar waxwings, pinesiskins...I am always amazed and wonder who puts out the call that there is food! :)

ReplyDeletethey announce their coming quite loudly, don't they? Not a very musical bird, that's for sure! haha....

DeleteI think maybe I will fill it just once a week. That way I can enjoy them occasionally and they will not be looking for a handout every day.
DeleteAnd maybe, if you're lucky, it will take them a week to empty it! :)
Deletethat first one is awesome bets....great capture...love the color and markings....
ReplyDeleteThey are beautiful, aren't they? I wish his whole body was in that shot! ha.

DeleteThey are so beautiful...such a perfect shade of blue. We had some stop by our bird bath for a few days and then they were gone.
ReplyDeleteI've been terrible about keeping our bird bath full of clean water this year! :( Poor birdies!
DeleteVery nice.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's a real compliment coming from you, Andy! Thanks!
