Drawing Again

I put this on my Summer Fun To Do List but certainly
procrastinated, leaving it until one of the very last things!
But here it is...a little nest with autumn leaves drawn
on a page from an old dictionary.
Drawing was a fun, creative outlet for me for several
years and then turned into something not so fun.
I'm glad to have given myself a little push
and actually enjoyed doing this!

  1. How refreshing! How creative. Love the Dictionary page..Is this done with your colored pencils, or watercolor or both. It's lovely.

    1. Thanks, Kitty. It is a little quirky, isn't it? I've seen several drawings on Etsy using old dictionary pages for the background. I have 4 old dictionaries I've brought home from the auction trash. I thought it was a fun way to use them!

I need to draw a cat some day, don't you think?

    2. Yes, some cats would be fun.

  8. Not sure this was the case with you here, but sometimes hobbies stop being fun when you feel obligated to do it. It was good that you took a break from it, and found such a creative idea to utilize here. Now, go on a picnic! :)

    1. I know!! I must go on a picnic soon! And make s'mores....but s'mores might get moved to my fall list. Who wants to build a fire when it's hot outside? ha.

I found it in the cottage driveway...

  11. I agree with Yuji that once you "have" to do something then it is not really fun anymore. You do have so many different talents and your drawings have always been beautiful. But sometimes I have to admit that I have no idea how you have the energy to do all that you do. It just amazes me so much and with being so tired so much this year I think I would be happy to have a fourth of your energy. As my friend put it, is that we just have our good days and our not so good days. I think I have caught every virus out there this year and definitely want to get my flu shot. Two years of trying to build up my immune system through natural means has taken it's toll on me. But I think injuring my other shoulder has been the hardest. I was turning the page of a book a little bit ago and it hurt so much. But I am determined to let it heal naturally. The thought of more surgery is no longer in my brainwaves, or at least for now. Just gotta learn how to use the Dictation thingy on my iPad or stop writing long comments (like that is ever going to happen, lol). Anyway I too like the contrast with the dictionary background. And the cat pics would be nice but just about anything is great. I can draw a circle and maybe a square, so it is nice to live vicariously through your art, and zoo, and cooking, and baking, and cleaning, and blogging, and trash treasures (a favorite), and so many other things. Now I need a long nap or zapped with a ray gun containing some of your energy.

    God bless.

    1. Poor you! You have had a rough go of it, haven't you? You know, Pat just started using one of those dictation things...he seems to really like it. I actually like having an assignment and deadline...otherwise, I don't take the time to do it! Sometimes you have to leave something you love because of some injustices. Self preservation becomes necessary. And that's all I better say about that here. lol...

    2. Injustices, Betsy?! Honestly, if you are referring to CT I have no idea why you would have ever felt that way as your pieces were adored by all. I'm sorry though as I do seem to recall some cryptic messages indicated some slight there and really not sure what that was about. But anyway, So glad to see you drawing again, and yes, I totally get what you mean about it losing it's fun sometimes and then at that point it's best to take a break. I have debated that too, wrestling with wanting to give up on CT as I get tired to doing it fortnight after fortnight and it;s rather served its purpose for me at least. But, I do love to have the outlet for those out there who are looking for something like that. You are always welcome back, regardless but certainly no expectations at all there. Like Mrsupole said, I'm amazed you find time for any sort of outlet like that. Kudos to you there, Betsy.

    3. Yes, injustices. I don't remember anything cryptic at all. Your email to me was very straightforward as was my reply to you. I doubt you'd want me to publish it here, so if you really don't remember, I'd be glad to email it to you. Just let me know! :)

    4. Please do, Betsy. I don't recall it at all. Thank you.

    5. Please do, Betsy, as I don't recall it at all but then again so much going on then. Still alot but not nearly as frequent.

    6. I've emailed you to your att email address. hope that is still the right one. All I had to go off of. Again, my apologies dear Betsy for any and all injustices.

  26. This is very imaginative, Betsy! I used to love to draw and do needlework when i was younger but it all was put on the back burner while my children were growing up, and then blogging took my interest when I had an empty nest. Someday I will try again!

  28. I am curious about what school your fellas are attending after their graduation from High school. They look pretty happy to be going.

    ReplyDelete

    1. They are attending a care facility for disabled adults. It's in our county...brand new beautiful building and extremely wonderful staff. It's a 5 day a week program...almost like school with goals and curriculum for each one there that is set up annually. They are ultimately transitioned, if they are able, to an employment side where they have a job, earn a pay check, etc. We're just taking it one year at a time and see what happens.
