A Little Fall Decor

Since it was the first week of fall, I put out a few autumnal
looking things.  I don't decorate my whole house with every
season.  Mainly, I do my little antique table in the foyer.
And since I was really ready for a change there, I
took down the painting on the wall and changed out the
lamp while I was at it.  Change is good!
It makes me notice things instead of walking by without observing!

The painted bowl and box came from the thrift store.

I made the little cloche with an old glass and dresser knob.

The old books came from generations in my family,
the transferware plate was in the auction trash
and the nest and eggs came right from nature!

The vintage brown bottle lamp was in the auction trash, too.
Someone had wired it and it even had the lightbulb in it. :)
And I just happened to have a shade that fit.

I swept the cobwebs off the front porch, although I almost left
them, claiming they were Halloween decorations. lol....
And I swapped out the wreath on the door.
The best part?  I didn't spend a penny.
Use what you have...that's my favorite way to do things.

I even had a fall-colored cat nearby, serving as inspiration!
He was free, too! lol...
Marmalade kept me company as I worked on the front porch.

    1. The shorter days are very noticeable, aren't they? Even more than the weather.
And the deep blue skies...always a favorite part of September for me. :)
I have dug my socks and slippers out of the closet, though...but they come off in the afternoons. lol....

I don't over due the decorating either. I just add a few of those little pumpkins and call it good.

OK,,, that green bowl, in your entry, is wonderful! I like it very much.

(I just noticed that you switched back to the right side!)

    1. love the green bowl, too.....it was one of those things that jumped in my cart and the thrift store. :)

I couldn't get used to the left side! Must have something to do with how my brain is wired. lol.... This is so much better. Whew!

    2. I call that serious decorating when you have a cat that matches the holidays. :) Love the red chalk board. Couldn't help but
laugh at the "Leaving the Spiders". I just whacked ours down again this week when sweeping the front porch.

I don't do much decorating anymore. I did when we first built the house but now a few pumpkins here and there. A door wreath and a few fall leafy things. Still haven't picked up the mums. But with the humidity and 84* temps I think fall has forgotten us. ha. We will go from hot to cold overnight. Happy Weekend.
