Extra Baggage

I finally got around to cleaning out my purse after our
big trip to Pennsylvania.  Wow.  ha ha.  I took the biggest
purse I had, simply because I knew I'd need extra room
for a spare headset for the guys, a bottle of water or three,
my camera, etc, etc.  What I wasn't expecting was for it
to become a place to house all weird and sundry
items accumulated on a road trip.  Here's what I removed:

  1. ketchup packet
  2. gum wrappers
  3. paper envelope to hold room key
  4. ticket stubs to our train ride
  5. all day pass wrist band
  6. scissors
  7. McDonald's granola packet for my yogurt parfait
  8. a paring knife
  9. a napkin
  10. ziplock bag
  11. bandaid
  12. three pairs of sunglasses, all mine
  13. camera cord
  14. laptop cord
  15. cell phone cord
  16. travel pack of wet wipes
  17. 2 magazines
  18. travel brochures
  19. a ball cap
  20. a pair of underwear (no, not mine. ha.)
  21. dental floss (no, not used. ha.)
  22. Taylor's boutonniere
  23. The Mister's boutonniere
  24. a half empty water bottle
  25. sunscreen
  26. an envelope for extra cash for tolls, now empty

Much better now....and lighter!

    1. Yes, I should have!
It was just an extra for the boys...which I never need
but bring just in case. Always prepared for anything, you know.

    1. Love your purse! When I was travelling to England a few years ago I had to make a connecting flight in Amsterdam, of all places. Needed to go through eight sets of customs there and back. Everything was smooth sailing until one of the connections home when I was asked, by a rather handsome security officer, if he could inspect my purse. Couldn't very well say no. So he emptied it, piece by piece, compartment by compartment, Kleenex by Kleenex. Sigh. It was embarrassing - not because of the items... but the sheer content. Then, of course, it was up to me to stuff it all back in and dash to the next gate!

  6. What a list... I've been known to have anything anyone needs in my purse. Probably the habit started back raising four kids. BTW we eat the same granola bars. I always have a couple in my purse as Don needs a snack often, or gets a little queezy.

I really like your purse. Very cute!

    1. I think mom's do tend to think to anticipate everyone's needs while out and about. It's just in our nature! And things do come in handy!

  9. I have a travel purse I use when I'm going on vacation (and minimize my things so I don't get a backache from carrying too much around), but this wasn't a vacation!

Hope your purse is now ready for the next big event.

  13. The reason we have these kinds of purse's is when someone ask, Do you have? We can say, Yes, I do.
It really is amazing what we carry around our purse. The undies made me giggle cause even though I've never carried a pair in my purse, I do keep a go bag that goes with us everywhere. Change of clothes for hubby and I and a few toiletries for the just in case. You never know do you? ;)

Wouldn't you like to see a man try to get all that stuff in his wallet?

    1. Some of the men at the auctions pull out wallets that are 4 inches thick. And I have a feeling with the way their pockets all bulge, that they are probably carrying enough junk to fill a purse. haha.

  15. That's a pretty impressive list! It's definitely a mom thing. When my boys were little, any time we traveled I carried a small backpack rather than a purse...with what seemed like everything but the kitchen sink stuffed in it...lol!

  17. That is quite a collection! I carry a big purse all the time, not just on trips. I think I'll do a little purse cleaning today and see what I have in there.

  18. You must have once been a Boy Scout - Be Prepared! Three sets of sunglasses....! Now I have my whole life on my iPhone ( and no kids to worry about) I make myself take a very small handbag most places - but when I'm out for the day I can get lots into my camera bag too.
