Random Thoughts

Harry, this afternoon.

  1. Alex had a cut on the top of his foot and it healed up just fine with some Neosporin and a Band-aid about 3 weeks ago.  Then over the weekend it became hot and swollen...like an infection from the inside out!  A trip to the doctor on Monday got us an antibiotic prescription and he's doing much better.
  2. The boys got new mattresses yesterday.  They were a much needed purchase and such an improvement.  Yay!  Did it make them sleep past 6:00 A. M. on a summer day? No.  lol....
  3. Harry didn't feel well this morning.  He always wants a bath when he's sick, and since I was still asleep, he decided to get one himself.  By the time I found him asleep in bed, he was finished!  There was only two problems.  He didn't turn off the water!  He filled the tub to the top and got in, flooding the bathroom.  He also put his underwear on backwards.  :)  He slept most of the day but seems to be feeling better this evening.  Yep, some people with autism need 24/7 supervision.  Next time I hear water running in my sleep, I'll be sure to get up and see what's going on. haha.
  4. Taylor and Lauren are super happy today.  They applied for their first apartment and were approved!  It's nice...older neighborhood with  mature trees, 2 bedroom, 1 1/2 baths.  We're thrilled for them!
  5. Taylor wanted to make a go of being self employed as a social media consultant and has 4 full time contracts already!  Several are large businesses which look great on his resume!  I like to tease him that I got him started when I put a bug in a businessman's ear during a dinner party last year and the rest is history.  Yeah, he owes me.  For a lot.  haha.  :)
  6. I filled all my planters with flowers today and started up the garden fountain.  It looks so lovely in our little courtyard, we ate dinner outside under the pergola!
  7. The preferred DVD of the day, according to Spencer, was Choo Choo Christmas.  Lovely steam engines travelling the country with snow covered mountains and fields in the dead of winter.  All set to cheerful, seasonal, Christmas carols.   All. Day. Long.    Summer camp starts Monday.  Yay!  lol....

The weather was perfect today.

No humidity, sun, gentle breezes and

temperatures in the 70's.

I hope we get a repeat tomorrow!

How was your day?
Any bathtub flooding?
I'd take bathtub flooding over toilet flooding any day.
Just sayin'.
ha.

  1. Poor you! Yes, I'd prefer bathtub flooding, too :-)

Does summer camp take you through till the start of the fall program, or is there a gap on the back end, too?

    1. At least the floor got a good washing. ha.

There is a gap, yes for a couple of weeks...but I can't complain. We've never done summer camp before, so I'm pretty excited about some free hours during the week!

    1. It always seems to be the Christmas ones that get played ad nausem! One year it the The Christmas Carol with a booming voice saying, "Old Marly was dead as a door nail. This must be understood...."
Yeah, that will raise you off your mattress in the morning! haha.

  4. I learned years ago to wake up if I dreamed I had to go to the bathroom, or even if I was taking a trip to a dreamland outhouse. There are some things that should never be brushed off in a sleepy state of mind. :)

  5. That dvd might drive me up the wall
Would use earplugs indeed at my hall haha
    And look at you
Sure plenty of social media tips you could give at your zoo
    Hope all get well soon
And maybe they'll sleep until noon?

      Oh the dread!
But only a few more days
and I'll break through the haze.
Would have to borrow Alex's headset
if it went longer, I bet.
hahaha. But I escaped to work outside
and that preserved the sanity tide.
      :)

  6. It is funny in that Hubby watches war movies all the time on the weekends to relax. I do not even know how many of them there are that I can watch a minute or two and then tell you which one he is watching. After so many years of watching them with him they are so ingrained into my brain. Newer movies, not so much.

So glad that the boys are feeling well, I know how bad that can be with everything I have wrong. And so true about bathtub water or toilet water, no contest there. Really cool about the apartment, is it close to your house? They will have a lot of fun decorating it. Oh and great news about the contracts. Very lucky young man who has a Mom who helps.

    God bless.

    1. The Mister will watch an entire day of old war movies a couple times a year....usually on Memorial Day or Veterans Day when there is a marathon of them on The History Channel. :)

Their apartment is about 25 minutes from us, which is nice...not too close but not too far away, either. And it's near where I go shopping. A very nice location...we're so happy for them!

  7. Harry may have run the tub over, but Carl has a knack for overflowing the toilet !!! ugh. Nice to hear about the apartment for the lovebirds.

  8. I didn't feel well either, like Harry today. You know we are connected. But I didn't leave the water running...I did do something on that order though, but I don't remember what it was...I blocked it out of my mind...it was one of those days.

  9. How nice are new mattresses. I'm sorry you had a mess to clean up...but I had to giggle reading the bathtub episode. Sometime I will have to share a story about my brother and a bath when he was a teenager. Love the picture of "Sleeping Beauty".

    1. Yes, Moly does get to go on the trip! Everywhere we stay is "pet friendly" and she's been at all the stop overs to Oregon when we went last August. She's a very good traveler. And since we are going to be gone so long..$23 a day in the kennel is out of the question.

      Delete
    2. Well, she will have so much more fun than at the kennel, anyway! ha.

Can't wait to hear the story of your brother! ha. The mess wasn't too bad...just hot soapy water. I guess in the end, it was like mopping the floor. :)

  11. on the bright side, that bathroom floor was cleaned early in the morning! :) at least I THINK that's a bright side.

The weather here is also fabulous! I had a busy day, scrubbed some of the fountains outside and washed a few of the decks, those were the fun things. :) So hard to get the work done inside when it's so beautiful outside!

    1. hey, we were both cleaning a fountain today! :) Well, yours is probably cleaner than mine...I just vacuumed it with a shop vac and filled it up. lol... It's nice to hear the water running in it again!

Gorgeous weather, huh! I love having the windows open! And yeah, not a lot got done inside today. lol....

In answer to your question about my blog header... It's a little shop in Nashville, IN. They have several blocks of cool shops and antique stores.
Its down by Brown County and is beautiful in the fall.

Hi Betsy .. well he achieved didn't he .. sad about the flood and the backwards pants and he's feeling better ... as you say 24/7 ... it's something so many of us don't understand - but so good to find out about and be aware of. Glad Alex's foot is better ... and all is well on the western front with Summer School getting ever closer.

The garden sounds lovely .. and so gorgeous to have that space for dining out ... while excellent news for Taylor and Lauren - on all fronts .. so pleased for them, and particularly for you both ... looks like life will be very happy for them .. cheers Hilary

  15. Dear Betsy, congratulations on all your achievements! And I´m sure you took the flood like... well, like absolutely positive Betsy, didn´t you? After a while at least, I presume. I am glad, the boys feel better, so that they can enjoy summer camp next week. Are they going far? - Seems to be a very nice start for Taylor and Lauren! And what joy for a mother, if things go well. But you deserve it so much and also of course the bit of leisure time you will gain, when summer camp starts. Or will you fill it all up with more to do lists at once?
    Take care

    1. Oh, you know me...I'll find ways to fill up my time while they are gone during the day. No, it's not far...just 15 minutes away and a bus picks them up and brings them home...just 8 hours a day, I think. It will almost be like the school year. I'm so excited...I've always had them at home for the summers and they tend to get bored and my patience tends to wear thin. It will be good for all of us!

  16. Oh dear! Hope Harry and Alex are feeling better today!! Yes, rest and sleep always do wonders!

Huge congratulations to Taylor and Lauren!! What a lovely start to their loving partnership!

  19. I'm glad Harry's not feeling well was short-lived...Matt has always wanted to take a bath when not feeling well too, and he has over filled the tub several times. But I too would rather have the tub overflow than the toilet...lol! How wonderful for Taylor and Lauren re the apartment and the job. And I'm so happy for you that they'll only be 25 minutes away! You're so fortunate!

    1. He wants a bath, too? I've always thought it was because he was cold (feverish) or achy...or maybe both. He's still sleeping this morning...thought I'd just let him.

Yes, 25 minutes away is wonderful...I'm so thankful they are staying in the area!

  22. I wish it was in the 70s here. It's been in the 90s the last few days. I love the warm weather, but I wouldn't mind if it cooled down just a bit.

Glad Alex and Harry are doing better. Sorry about the flooding - hope it wasn't too big of a mess to clean up.
