Auction Stories

Wanted to show you what came home with me from the
auction last week!  I bid on all of these things here.
The trash picking is still in a box in the garage. ha.
Nothing too exciting there...a few canning jars with
glass lids, some old linens and some baskets.
I've been a little busy. :)

I had to have this humongous cloche.
It's gigantic!  18" tall!
Can't wait to bake a tall cake to put under it.

The Haviland China is 10 pull place settings.
The pattern is Racine.
It came with all the padded storage pieces, too.
I paid $5.00 for the whole thing.
I think I have enough china now to start a catering business. ha.

And I collect Roseville and McCoy pottery, so this
had to come home with me, too, for $2.00.

I work another auction tomorrow.
Hmmm...wonder what treasures I'll find?!

    1. I actually have lots of room inside since I decluttered a few years ago. Empty closet shelves! It's unreal the space you have if you pair down. ha. I need to sell the china. There's no need for me to keep it all! But I can't see letting it go in the trash if I can buy 50 pieces for $5. Kinda unreal!

    2. I wouldn't let it be thrown out either. You are a kind soul to give it all a safe place to live, even if only for a brief time. :)

    1. Let's see...what to answer first. lol....

I have been guilty of spending my whole paycheck at the auction. ha. But sometimes I buy nothing, so it all evens out.

Taylor's birthday is next week. He's ordered red velvet with cream cheese frosting. It's got to be under that cloche! ha. If I start with a pedestal cake plate, I think three or four layers will look great under there! :)

Lauren is getting a set of china from her nana, I think it is. So it's still in my china cabinet!

Boys are still enjoying camp! I'm SO glad. I've been impressed so far with the staff and how they call and chat and update me. Very nice.

Nothing has happened at school that I am aware of. We will not be returning without an apology, explanation and some discipline. (we could have returned for additional years of school up until the boys turn 22 years old....it was our plan to go back in the fall but I can't see that happening if things remain as they are.)

    2. I am glad on all counts...except for the last one..:o(
Too bad that person spoiled things for your boys...
Now....I MUST see that TALL cake!!

    3. Yeah, it is too bad. I wanted them there another couple of years. And now we're forced to hastily makes decisions that we thought were a couple of years away. Very irritating.

I'm going to look for a narrow cake pedestal tomorrow at the auction. My wider ones don't fit with that narrow part of the cloche! It's 9" wide at that point. Better take my tape measure tomorrow. ha.
