Wanted to show you what came home with me from the
auction last week! I bid on all of these things here.
The trash picking is still in a box in the garage. ha.
Nothing too exciting there...a few canning jars with
glass lids, some old linens and some baskets.
I've been a little busy. :)
I had to have this humongous cloche.
It's gigantic! 18" tall!
Can't wait to bake a tall cake to put under it.
The Haviland China is 10 pull place settings.
The pattern is Racine.
It came with all the padded storage pieces, too.
I paid $5.00 for the whole thing.
I think I have enough china now to start a catering business. ha.
And I collect Roseville and McCoy pottery, so this
had to come home with me, too, for $2.00.
I work another auction tomorrow.
Hmmm...wonder what treasures I'll find?!
♥
oo i like the rims on the plate, subtle yet elegant...glad you kinda alluded to what a cloche was...ha...hope you find something good tomorrow as well...smiles.
ReplyDeleteA cloche is just a glass dome. ha.
DeleteOh my word, the price for the china is unreal. I would have definitely bought it too. Love, love, love that cloche. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteOf course you loved the cloche, Marty! I knew you would! :)
DeleteToo much fun! I hope you have a big garage.
ReplyDeleteI actually have lots of room inside since I decluttered a few years ago. Empty closet shelves! It's unreal the space you have if you pair down. ha. I need to sell the china. There's no need for me to keep it all! But I can't see letting it go in the trash if I can buy 50 pieces for $5. Kinda unreal!
DeleteI wouldn't let it be thrown out either. You are a kind soul to give it all a safe place to live, even if only for a brief time. :)
DeleteI'm the dish rescuer...or something like that. ha.
DeleteI love the cloche. And the dishes are so pretty - what a deal! I would have snatched them up too.
ReplyDeleteAll white is so nice...it can be paired with just about anything!
DeleteLove all your pieces!! Great pickin.....
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have any problem decorating with that large cloche....
I know! A few people that knew I wanted to bid on it asked what in the world I would do with such a thing! haha...I could think of a dozen things off the top of my head. They are so cool...and I loved how big this one was!
DeleteLove the cloche!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it so neat? I had to have it. lol...
DeleteI love the White plates betsy!! ah Im sure you have a lot of china, when you are bore with someones you can send to me LOL
ReplyDeleteWish you lived close! I'd call on your cell, "Gloria dear, I'm on my way home from an auction! I'll swing by your house and give you some plates!" haha.
DeleteBetsy! maybe we both can go to auctions what fun!!
Deleteyes, that would be fun! But it would be like Linda and me at the thrift stores...we'd fight over everything! lol!.....hahaha....
DeleteYeah, I home and can start checking in on your blog.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! :)
DeleteGonna bake a big cake
ReplyDeleteSome patience that would surely
Have to show when it is all done
To see if it worked under your sun
cake doesn't rhyme with surely.
Deletelol.
I think you missed a take
to go with that cake.
:)
LOL I was half asleep
DeleteYou got what I meant at your keep
Love, Love that cloche!
ReplyDeleteVery cool, isn't it? Do you think it was in a garden in it's former life?
DeleteLauren says it needs a rose under it like in Beauty And The Beast. :)
Fantastic, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteWish I could get a job at an auction...I would buy EVERYTHING!
I want to see a cake that fits under that cloche! hahaha!
It will be wonderful for all your Seasonal decorating...Can't wait to see what you come up with!
I also have a few Mccoy pieces...mostly planters...
Did yo ever offer that other dish set to the kids?
Did they want it?
Are the boys still enjoying camp?
What ever happened to that creep at the school who offended you and the boys?
WOW...AM I nosy...or what?? ha!
Enjoy your evening!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Let's see...what to answer first. lol....
DeleteI have been guilty of spending my whole paycheck at the auction. ha. But sometimes I buy nothing, so it all evens out.
Taylor's birthday is next week. He's ordered red velvet with cream cheese frosting. It's got to be under that cloche! ha. If I start with a pedestal cake plate, I think three or four layers will look great under there! :)
Lauren is getting a set of china from her nana, I think it is. So it's still in my china cabinet!
Boys are still enjoying camp! I'm SO glad. I've been impressed so far with the staff and how they call and chat and update me. Very nice.
Nothing has happened at school that I am aware of. We will not be returning without an apology, explanation and some discipline. (we could have returned for additional years of school up until the boys turn 22 years old....it was our plan to go back in the fall but I can't see that happening if things remain as they are.)
I am glad on all counts...except for the last one..:o(
DeleteToo bad that person spoiled things for your boys...
Now....I MUST see that TALL cake!!
Yeah, it is too bad. I wanted them there another couple of years. And now we're forced to hastily makes decisions that we thought were a couple of years away. Very irritating.
DeleteI'm going to look for a narrow cake pedestal tomorrow at the auction. My wider ones don't fit with that narrow part of the cloche! It's 9" wide at that point. Better take my tape measure tomorrow. ha.
thats a geat job you have, thats a great job with wonderful benefits! lots of treasures,
ReplyDeleteit is...fun all the way around. I really enjoy it...it gets this hermit out of the house for the day...and it's interesting, too!
DeleteLucky! Lucky! Girl. The canning jars w/glass lids in the trash? Ouch. Glad you rescued them.
ReplyDeleteLove the Cloche and my favorite is white dishes.
Jake's a Girl
I know....had to take the canning jars!
DeleteI love china The more the merrier I say lol
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time passing it up, too...as you can tell! ha.
DeleteDo show us that tall cake, when you've baked it, Betsy!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Pictures next week!
DeleteColor me GREEN. GREEN. GREEN! with envy! Love your scores from this auction, Betsy! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteI know! Kinda unbelievable, isn't it?
DeleteIt's amazing what kind of things you can get so inexpensively!
ReplyDeleteinnit? ha. ;)
DeleteCute...
DeleteWonderful finds! Cloche...didn't know what those things were called. I've eyed them before wondering what I would do with it if I bought it. Love your cake idea...
ReplyDeletethe possibilities are endless! Seems like any little treasure looks more special with a cloche over it. :)
DeleteI adore your auction posts Betsy, your job is just awesome!
ReplyDeleteisn't it? It's really fun!
DeleteI'm so glad you show us what you bring home. I can't buy "things" anymore so I am live through you.
ReplyDeleteLove the dishes. That is something I couldn't pass up either.
Well, someone should enjoy these dishes! I'm going to try to find them a loving home. :)
DeleteGreat Job :)
