B Is For Biscotti

After 29 years of the Easter Bunny only bringing
goodies for the 5 men of the house, it left me
a sweet basket of goodies this year!

Who knew that The Mister could learn to be the bunny!
And no, he didn't read my blog.  (he never does!)
Maybe it was guilt. lol.
So, who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?
I mean, after decades, he's finally beginning to put
a few gifts in my Christmas stocking! lol.

One of my Easter treats was a box of mint chocolate chip biscotti.

Biscotti, also known as cantucinni (coffee bread), are twice-baked
cookies originating from the Italian city of Prato.
They are oblong and made dry and crunchy to prolong their
shelf life.  It also makes them able to withstand a nice
dunking in your coffee or tea.

The first documented recipe for the cookie is a centuries-old
manuscript, now preserved in Prato, found by the
eighteenth century scholar, Amadio Baldanzi.

Biscotti is the plural term.  If you are referring to a
single cookie, it is a biscotto.

And while enjoying my biscotto, with it's mint colored
frosting, I couldn't help but notice my mint colored shirt,
mint colored mug and chocolate sweater.
It was a serendipity kind of thing. :)

I'm all linked up with the A to Z Challenge
for the month of April.

    Becoming the bunny
Bet Nugget thought he looked funny
And no idea what a biscotto was
    Until your B Buzz
And look full comment and still first
    With my rhyming burst

    1. and I even posted late
as to not run into the A post slate!
I asked Nugget if he was the easter bunny
but he just looked at me funny.
Maybe they don't dress in black
to go on the candy giving attack. :)

    3. Pfft excuses excuses from you
And yeah maybe the black bunnies are shunned by the easter crew
Or smart enough not to get involved with that
As it would be hard work delivering eggs to every mat

We haven't done Easter baskets since our first two boy were just little guys, but we do enjoy the Easter candy that finds it's way into our house. Somehow I forgot to buy black jelly beans this year. That's just plain tragic!

  15. A totally awesome looking cookie. Biscotti are fairly easy to make, especially with a Kitchen Aid mixer that does all the work. And you can make so many varieties. Pistachios and just about anything else is my favorite. But your's does look especially good. And so proud of the Mister, he did good this Easter.

    God bless.
