Snowy Day

We got 6-8 inches of snow overnight and woke
up to a winter wonderland!

I watched cats chase snowflakes,
baked several kinds of cookies for an order,
filled bird feeders and took lots of pictures!

Told you I took lots of pictures! :)

  4. Wow, gorgeous! That's what we thought we were getting too. But alas, once again it was mostly rain and chilly besides. Starting to feel desperate for warm sunshine and the scent of earth and flowers!!

    The cookies look yummy.

    2. Some areas had 9 inches, but we only had about 5 or so. It was much less than expected and did not seem so bad for what was supposed to be a big storm.

    1. well, I hope you enjoyed today anyway! Could be our last snow day of the season! I thought I heard VA was under a state of emergency with all the snow you got. Maybe I heard that wrong. We're back to school tomorrow, too...the roads are clear! ha.

  13. That must have been such a beautiful sight to see. It is amazing that the birds survive there. I thought most of the birds fly to the south before the winter season would come. I thought it was why we have so many birds here during the winter and they all seem to like the dog food. Maybe if I put cat food out there then they would eat that too. The possums like the dog food too if they can get to it before the dogs get to them. Pit bulls just seem to want to eat the possums whereas the cats stay away from them. Possums are sure scary looking when they hiss.

I think you do take such great pictures of birds and your camera takes such good close ups. I also like how you contrast the snow with normal everyday things. And now I have an urge for sweet treats but I think it is just best for me to stare at your pictures and pretend I am eating them. Oh how much I love lemon bars but hubby dislikes them and so I would have to eat them all. They look so yummy for my tummy.

    God bless.

    1. We do have warm weather birds that are here from spring to fall...humming birds, robins, gold finches, etc. But some are made for the cold weather and survive!

I am not a possum fan. Ew. We had one eating the cat food outside and I stopped putting food out there. If cats want to eat, they have to come in. ha.

Wish you lived close...you and I could polish off a plate of lemon bars together! :)

  15. Absolutely stunning photos, Betsy! I especially love the one with the cardinal and the one with one of your black kitties -- beautiful contrast against the snow in both of them. I have a bad case of spring fever so I'm happy that the snow stayed south of us but I'm glad you're still enjoying it!

  16. Wonderful photos...I'm glad I don't have to do any snow shoveling, however; but I love to look at snow pictures. Cookies, too. As others have mentioned, your photo of the cardinal surrounded by snowy branches is really beautiful. How that red pops out!

  17. As always, amazing photos Betsy! A sight for sore eyes! We got slammed with snow and sleet and rain and ice and then lost power....ugh! It was a long night but it's back now. I hope that's it for the season. Aren't red cardinals so pretty in the snow? I filled up our feeders twice yesterday. The birds were going crazy. xo
