Me, today. :)
- I was back to the doctor today for cortisone shots in my thumbs. Anyone else have osteoarthritis? Having it in the hands runs in my family. Every time I go in to see my arthritis doctor (Sandy Wolfe, M.D. if you're local), he tells me I'm pretty young to be there! ha. I tell him I think that, too, when all the others in the waiting room could be my grandparents. :) My blood pressure is good, 118/72, so at least I know I'll still live forever like I plan to...I'll just live with painful hands. lol. Actually, the cortisone lasts about 2 years, so that isn't too bad for maintenance!
- What gorgeous snow we have! I think I'm the only one that does not have spring fever! Why would I want my spring allergies to kick in? And all that yard work?..ugh. I don't have time to get all my indoor chores done. ha. Actually, I love spring...each season is wonderful in it's own way! But I've never been one to wish away a season, pining for the next. Except when wishing summer would turn to fall. I will admit to doing that!
- I spent three hours this week at our local Social Security office with my proof of guardianship of our boys, their IEP papers, birth certificates and medical records. Things went smoothly and I'm thankful for that. Even after 19 years with these boys of mine, some days it hits me how much hard work they have been. But the size of the work certainly doesn't outweigh this mother's heart. :)
- Tomorrow (Friday) is the first day in a while that I have nothing written on my calendar. Looking forward to being home alone and puttering around here. Even doing laundry sounds wonderful. haha. I need to replant a purple shamrock that jumped into my cart at the grocery. And it's probably time to take down the Valentine's stuff, don't you think? :)
♥
A purple shamrock? Sort of like a cross between Mardi Gras and St. Patrick's Day?
ReplyDeleteA day alone to do what your heart desires is wonderful, and I agree, even if it's laundry. So much better than errands or appointments.
Love your new pictures, pretty lady!
XO,
Jane
yeah, purple! Have you seen them? Not Mardi Gras purple, though...it's more like burgandy. And the blooms are pink!
DeleteI know I'm on a break....but I peeked in today... and love the picture of you~~~ Sweet girl... I love you.
ReplyDeletethanks, Wanda. I miss you! April seems so far away! Hope you're having fun!
DeleteLovely you! :) Sorry about the painful hands though :(
ReplyDeleteA free day sounds nice! Hope you enjoy it to the fullest!
I like those purple shamrocks but I don't have a lot of house plants. Somehow usually manage to kill them. I did stop in at a greenhouse today. The scents were wonderful! Then I came home and started working in the garden . Mulching berries and such.
Yes, I'm going to enjoy my laundry to the fullest! ha.
DeleteOh now, I can just see you in that greenhouse, breathing deeply the scent of soil. haha...did they have to ask you to leave because you were digging in it? lol....
Ha, no. I tried to be decent :) but it really was wonderful! I wanted to buy an herb of every kind and some primroses too! But I refrained and walked away. ;)
DeleteI love those sweet little primroses! Herbs are one of my favorite things to grow...so fragrant and pretty!
Deletesorry about the arthritic thumbs, thats no fun, such a beauty you are,
ReplyDeleteno, they are not fun...especially when I want to do things like decorate cakes and cookies! But I'm expecting the shots to help and I can get back to all those kinds of things. :) And I'm so glad to see you back, Laurie! I missed your sweet posts and art. So glad you found that app you needed!
DeleteSorry about your pain Betsy and osteoarthritis, I know how is, and really you are so young to have it, anyway hope really you feel better, In think in winter pain is more difficult, and your picture of course you look beautiful Betsy:))
ReplyDeleteWinter is more painful! Anytime my hands get cold, they hurt! I wear gloves everywhere! ha. Before I started getting the shots, I kept a heating pad on my desk! ha.
DeleteWhat did you do today? Is your cold any better?
My hands suffer too in winter:) Ihave a handkerchief like yours!!!
DeleteI dont feel better I had a lot of errands today and I arrived exausted, hope to give dinner (I have hot dogs and... chaooo (you know what is chao (by) to the men, Esperanzai sleep today at my mom home she work late today!!
After you make dinner you need a bath and cup of tea! And bed early, too! See, I can boss you around like your nurse. lol....
DeleteYeah a cup of tea sounds nice LOL

ReplyDeletejust wait til you're my age...haha... No, I wouldn't wish this on anyone, especially my brother. :)
DeleteLOVED the snow..it really was lovely. Much of ours melted in the sun today.
You look beautiful....and I "feel" your pain...I have some arthritis in my fingers, and sometimes they give me trouble....
ReplyDeleteThe purple shamrock is awesome...my boyfriend is Irish, and he has one on his desk in his office...
I keep him happy and fertilized....the plant that is!! ha!
Put out a few green objects on my hall table...and a garden leprechaun gnome that my son gave me years ago..
Perhaps I should take a few pics of that!!! Sounds like a post to me....
Enjoy your evening...we are off to the Lake tomorrow....yahoo!!!
Cheers!
Linda :o)
Yes, you need to post that old gnome! ;)
DeleteYour purple shamrock does sound lovely!
ReplyDeleteIf you want one, they're in the groceries now...it's hard to find them after March@
DeleteBlah to the hand stuff
ReplyDeleteThat is surely rough
Wish mine lasted two years
Two days is about all I get for cheers haha
And pfft to winter
Smashed my final printer
On to spring
And yeah with my sweat lodge of an apartment I too like when fall come to my wing
But beats snow
Have fun doing nothing as tomorrow we go to that other show
no A/C would make
Deleteanyone hate
summer
it's a bummer!
It's my least fave
of it I have no rave.
Off to nanny's is it?
I can hear your cats having a fit.
They cry their appeal
as you grip the steering wheel.
lol....
Tell ol' nan I now have 15
and if she wants to be the queen
she needs a few more felines.
Won't Orlin and Cass think that's divine?
haha.
Yeah wish I could leave this hole
DeleteBut doubt that is a goal
Cold showers 5 times a day
Keeps the heat a bit at bay
And yep off we will go
As they meow all the way to the show
Orlin is hiding now
As he scratched me by mistake and I raised an eyebrow haha
They will hate that
Not ones for another cat
I have a few scratches myself!
DeleteComes with the territory at our shelves.
Yeah that is true
DeleteExcept his is such a pansy at our zoo
Jumped up to sit on my lap
And what scared the chap?
The tv remote sitting on the arm of the chair
Then he sprung into the air
And landed on my shoulder
Scratching me like I was some boulder..haha
lol. Yeah, that's pretty bad
Deletefrom the Orlin lad.
I hate it when they are scared
and use your body as a spring board
to get away.
Oh, the pain.
Love the photos. <3
ReplyDeleteI do agree on wishing for fall. I only wish it lasted a little longer. *sigh*
My hands used to hurt too, but they don't so much now. I wonder what I'm doing different?
Fall does seem to be the shortest, doesn't it? Seems like a long ways off.
DeleteHmm...well, with you, I know too much coffee doesn't help and too little water doesn't either. lol....
My fingers have OA too, but no injections in them yet. Have had injections in hip and knee that helped a bunch though. Your attitude always gives me a lift!
ReplyDeleteWell, thanks, Anita! I hope you don't have to have any in your fingers! :)
Delete#1. Ouch! I bet you added a ray of sunshine to the waiting room full of gray hairs.
ReplyDelete#2. I'm glad you like the snow. I've been sending it your way!
#3. You are amazing with a heart of gold.
#4. Enjoy!
well, adding sunshine wasn't hard. They were all old and kinda grumpy. lol. Maybe they are happier after their treatments. :)
DeleteI'll take your snow...but you have to keep the rain. :)
Pretty pics : )
ReplyDeleteGlad the shots help. Mine seem to help too. I get them in my back and hips. The shots are very painful though.
I don't think I've seen a purple shamrock. Tom just repotted the African violet today. It just keeps growing.
yeah, the shots are not fun at all!
DeleteI'll have to post a picture of my purple shamrock when he gets his new pot. :)
Hi Betsy,
ReplyDeleteSo sorry to hear that you have arthritis in your thumbs, but glad the shots help. I have it in my spine, shoulders, elbows, and knees. So far my hands are okay. Because it started in my spine, Doc says that all my joints will eventually get it. My spine is so bad that they said I should be in a wheel chair. I refuse to go quietly and will walk for as long as I can. It is the knees that get you but once I loosen them up they are better. So glad that things went easy for you at the SS offices, I hear they can be very slow. I hope you enjoy a lazy day and find a little time to pamper yourself. It is very important for you to do that on a regular basis. Sometimes it seems you are so busy taking care of others that you do so little for yourself. Although the cats seem to relax you a little bit. I'll join you and Gloria in that cup of tea tomorrow and hope she feels better.
God bless.
Your arthritis sounds painful! But being active is supposed to help a lot. I am enjoying my day so far. The bathrooms are sparkly...now it's on to the kitchen floor, which looks like a barnyard at the moment. ha.
DeletePets do relax us, don't they? I read somewhere that your heart rate decreases when petting a cat. Maybe it's the purring. :)
Would love to chat over a cup of tea with all my blog friends. That would be so fun! Too bad we are all scattered all over the world.
Nice to see your smiling face. :) You do have a big heart, Betsy. Glad it is a healthy one. :)
ReplyDeleteYep, it's healthy! Good thing. lol....
DeleteKind regards from France...
ReplyDeletePierre
thanks, pierre...you're always so nice to stop by!
DeleteI love this random you.;) Just read the description of you on the side bar and I have to only add that in my eyes you are a wonder woman.;) You have so much energy and you keep yourself so occupied, I can only admire you. I have at times 3 teenagers with me, when husband is away, I am alone with them, every second weekend and I am totally EXHAUSTED by the time I give them back to their mom. Right now they are in school and i savor those few hours on my own, I hope that does not make me a bad stepmom, as I love them to bits.;)
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend and enjoy your Friday with less chores.;)
xoxo
Aw thanks, Zuz! You are so sweet. I live on caffeine..that's my secret. lol... I can only guess that your three teens just love you. How very fun and what a completely different life you have stepped into! It's just great! And yes, I can relate to the hours while they are in school....those quiet hours of my own are wonderful and then I'm glad to see then when they come through the door!
DeleteYou always look beautiful! Glad you're enjoying the snow. I'm really suffering from Spring fever and am enjoying the longer days and some sunshine.
ReplyDeletePS - stop over at my blog today - good news!
Spring will be here soon...the ground hog said so! ha. Well, I love good news, so I'll be right over! :)
DeleteBetsy!!! You will so live forever and hopefully by then medical science would find something more effective to give you pain free hands! We must always hope!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Friday! Take care
x
Finding a cure for arthritis would be a huge break through, wouldn't it? Some day I'm sure they will be able to do it.
Deletelovely pics, Betsy, and I love the green header of yours :)
ReplyDeleteWhy, Thanks, Dez.
DeleteHey, are you baking up anything special for St. Patrick's Day?
Your shamrock header is beautiful! I wondered if you ever had a day on the calendar with nothing. Knowing you, you will have a very productive day. With pictures! (o;
ReplyDeleteWe are in Illinois babysitting for our grandson, taking lots of pictures and napping when he does...I feel both young and old at the same time. On a more serious note, I have many families I pray for for many different reasons..and when your comes to mind, i pray for your boys and for you too. I think all of us that read your blog know the joy you experience with your boys, AND also the unique challenges. Your positive attitude jumps from the pages of 'My Five Men".
Wow...thank you so much, Anita. I appreciate your prayers very much. And you know, the times I've asked for something specific for my friends here to pray for, those prayers have been answered. So neat and encouraging to see that.
DeleteHave fun with your grandson. Is that where that gold kitty and gold fish are? LOVE that photo! I know you're having a wonderful time!
I hope you are enjoying your Friday Free Day; I love it when that happens. Any day, not just a Friday. Cute pictures, too.
ReplyDeleteI am...and it didn't fly by too fast! I'm so glad! haha. The house is clean and the sunshine is wonderful.
Deleteyou look absolutely great! hope your Friday is wonderful :)
ReplyDeleteMary x
aw, thanks mary! hope you have a wonderful weekend yourself!
DeleteHey Betsy - can you e-mail me your address so I can have that DVD sent to you?
ReplyDeletebobmarib@hotmail.com
thanks so much mari! I'm excited! :)
DeleteGosh Betsy, I thought at first you had an identical twin from the piccie.
ReplyDeletehaha...well, I do have a blog twin. But he doesn't look anything like me. :)
Deletehaha . . . . . have a great weekend Betsy and see yer soon. I am soooo lazy these days - I must do another post.
Deletewhat a really beautiful woman you are, Betsy! And you indeed look as positive as your description of yourself in your sidebar.- I am so sorry, that you are confronted with this ugly painful OA. I admire the attitude, with which you face quite a selection of challenges and be able to enjoy life as well!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend!
Christel
well, thanks, Christel. :) OA...yuck! I'm thankful it is only in my hands, but I'm sure as the years go by it will spread. I'm just thankful it isn't rheumatoid or something more serious!
DeleteYou are just beautiful, Betsy. Inside and out. I love your mother's heart so much. =) blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeletethanks, tanna. xo
