Repotting the Jade Plant

My little jade plant has doubled in size since I picked
him up at Trader Joe's a few weeks ago!
And when I picked up this pretty vintage Haeger
planter from the auction trash, I knew just what
I was going to do with it!

It's nice to see a little green inside when everything
is grey and white outside!

  1. Poor Gloria dear
Left in the dust again I fear haha

    And yeah green is grand
Beats white stuff over the land
    Surprised though
You are able to have it at your show
As Cassie would have it as a snack
    With her never relenting attack

    1. this one is by the kitchen sink
and no cat has jumped that brink.
but a couple others have had a chew
      or two.
haha. I've had to move them up high
or have them hanging, as from the sky.

      Anything green here is reeling

But thanks to cat grass cassie thinks all plants are fair game at my sea
      But I have none
So she goes after them at that other place with cats by the ton haha

    1. I have a little peach colored begonia that hasn't stopped blooming. It must like it by the kitchen sink. Flowers won't survive outside here until May, so I better not start getting in the mood just yet! ha. Daisies are always so cheerful! I love them!

  4. The closer it gets to Spring the more difficult it is to wait for fresh blooms from the gardens. Something green is certainly a nice switch from all the grey and brown. No white for us here. But the sun was beautiful today!

    1. we have a little snow! And it is so cold, it won't be going anywhere just yet! I think we've had flakes floating down every day for a week now but they aren't accumulating too much....just a thick dusting that is sticking for now. I was just happy it didn't rain on me while I was out today! lol...

    2. Not too much water. Keep them from standing in soggy soil. They get rotten if their feet stay wet too long.

  10. It is funny in that I sometimes forget that you do not have greenery and flowers all year round. My Calla Lillie's start blooming in October and will bloom until June, the roses pretty much have blooms all year and most of my succulents get their blooms during the winter too. I could start planting the annuals and they usually have blooms on them and so we would have them now. My strawberry plant has berries growing all year but it is a hanging one so it does not deal with the ground temp changes. I think you are so brave to put up with all that snow and coldness and doubt that many of us here could do it. But then we also miss seeing those beautiful fall colors, and really do not have the seasons change like you do. The other day it was in the 80's and we almost turned on the AC. But it is a good thing that we have such warm weather because of all the food we grow for everyone. We have had a lot of rain which we hope has put a dent into our drought. We so sorely need it and hopefully food will be a little cheaper for everyone.

But at the same time it will be more fuel for the coming fire season. I also have to say that I love your jade plant. Succulents are one of my favorite plants and probably the easiest to grow. A few years ago my aloe was the size of your jade and now it is almost five feet tall. Succulents love the heat and do not need much water, so we are planting a lot of them. There are so many varieties and they are fascinating. They do well in hanging baskets because you do not need to water them often. I can't wait to see how big yours get and I bet you will get lots of new plants from it.

    God bless.

    1. Oh, that's amazing. Yeah, we are in the teens and 20's all the time right now. Nothing green outside unless it's a pine tree. ha. And we can't put plants outside until May!

  12. Pretty! And how funny, I just repotted my jade tonight! It was growing so big that my son almost knocked it over and I knew I had to do something. I picked off three branches and repotted them as starters and then I (hopefully) stabilized the mother-ship plant. I inherited it from my dear grandma who passed on years ago. It's quite an old plant and I love it so.

  13. Did you know that a jade plant can last years?
My grandma had on and passed it down through generations. She'd get a "start" and give them away. Each of her grand children received one. Mine? Well, I don't have a green thumb. But my brother does and his is huge!

Looks like you are well on your way to a life time of your jade plant. Maybe even generations!

  15. I love your pretty new pot, and your jade plant looks great in it. I have a jade plant on my front porch that I have had for years. They do grow rapidly and get pretty big if you allow them to do so. I love the look of them.
