Harry, Alex, Spencer
2 years old
They'll always lean on each other, won't they?
(I cried when I pulled up this photo. Aw. Look how cute they are!)
Heard this song on the radio today and now it's
pleasantly stuck in my head.

Lean On Me
by Club Nouveau
Lyrics:
Sometimes in our lives we all have pain
We all have sorrow
But if we are wise
We know that there's always tomorrow
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Please swallow your pride
If I have things you need to borrow
For no one can fill those of your needs
That you won't let show
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on (lean on me)
For it won't be long
'Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
Just call on me brother when you need a hand
We all need somebody to lean on
I just might have a problem that you'd understand
We all need somebody to lean on
Lean on me when you're not strong
And I'll be your friend
I'll help you carry on
For it won't be long
'Till I'm gonna need
Somebody to lean on
We be jammin'
We be jammin' hey yeah
We be jammin'......
♥

ReplyDeletenever a dull moment! ha.
DeleteThree adorable 2 year olds! I love the picture and the song too.
ReplyDeleteI miss those days!
DeleteBeautiful photo - and I love the song too. I'll remember it in the next few days as my mum is in hospital and nearing the end of her life so I am travelling down tomorrow to be with her.
ReplyDeleteAw, I'm so sorry, Jenny....BIG hugs. xo
DeleteOkay, I was gonna say the photo was "adorable," but that seems to be the word of the day in your comment section...
ReplyDeleteso, if you had said it, you would have been in good company...
DeleteI love the picture of the boys!!
ReplyDeletethanks, Heather! :)
DeleteAwwww I love the Bill Wither's original!
ReplyDeleteAnd your boys are beautiful! take care
x
He did this one, too! In fact, it's his third version! This is the one I heard today...
DeleteAdorable, adorable, and (triple) adorable.
ReplyDeleteWho's who?
I put their names under the photo...they are in that order, from left to right. :)
DeleteThis is one of the sweetest, most heartwearming images I've ever seen ... God love them.
ReplyDeleteYou think I might spell heartwarming correctly?
Deletehaha...better than heartworming. lol....
DeleteHow sweet!!
ReplyDeleteNow you know what I'll be singing for days......lol
me, too,,,but I don't mind...I'm kind of enjoying it!
DeleteSweet, sweet picture! Love this song and the words are so true. We all need to lean sometimes and sometime we need to be leaned on. Leaning is the precarious balance of life.
ReplyDeleteso very well said, Cathy! :)
Deleteoh what the heck...adorable it is...a cute pic of the boys....smiles...and cool song..what i needed today...hard day at school...
ReplyDeleteaw...sorry...it's your turn to lean! :)
DeleteSo cute....I love the hair! The other day I found a photo of my two sons that I hadn't seen in awhile. It sort of choked me up too...I guess the passage of time is bittersweet. I sure love who they are now, but I sort of miss them little and living here too. I had a moment like that last month when we finally replaced our 14 year old van. It was literally falling apart. But it had been our FAMILY van. And now we don't need a van anymore. Oh to be blessed with memories... (o:
ReplyDeleteyep...so true...all of it!
DeleteOh my....what a dear, sweet photo.
ReplyDeletethank you....
DeleteOh they were too cute!! Yes I can see why tears came to your eyes...
ReplyDeleteBetsy at what age did they begin to talk?? We still have hope for our wee grand that is 4 1/2.
oh sorry...but they don't!...still. :( Spencer a few words (very hard to understand if you aren't his mom) and the other two, none...although Harry tries. ha. Alex would rather nod and point.
DeleteI guess that's why I love this photo...it's around the time the autism started but wasn't completely evident. Lot's of wishes that things hadn't gone down that path.
Yes our grandson was diagnosed at 2. We still have hope that his speech will come. He makes alot of noises.....He is very affectionate. Goes to jr. kindergarten. Likes to have a routine.
Deleteoh dear Betsy waht sweet and lovely picture, I love this age too:)
ReplyDeleteAnd love the song of course is amazing!
you know sometimes when I see pictures when the twins were little (about this age) always cry I dont know why maybe I missed them to this age oh dear!! a big hug to you!xo
Two is such a cute age, isn't it? Aww.
Deleteyes dear this age we love aah!
DeleteWhat a wonderful photo of your boys! I love the matching sweaters,so cute. I don't blame you for getting teary when you pulled this one up; it is such a special age.
ReplyDeleteI had actually forgotten I had one thumb sucker in the group! ha. Harry didn't do it for long and gave it up on his own.
DeleteSure cute all as one
ReplyDeleteChewing on a finger for fun haha
And that song is good
So is the movie with Morgan Freeman in the hood
Morgan Freeman is a cat lover. Did you know?
DeleteSaw his photo with his pet a while ago!
Saw it a bit back too
DeleteWorks well for my zoo
I think Alex is my favorite..:o)
ReplyDeleteHe seems to be more "out there"...
I see more pictures of him, than Harry and Spencer..
Funny....they are in the same order as the picture in your sidebar..
I can see why it brought a tear to your eye...they are truly precious...
Hugs to YOU Betsy...
How fortunate for those 3 men that you are his Mom...and the Mr. is their Dad...
Your Friend
Linda :o)
haha...they are in that same order! Alex is my shadow..love to hang in the kitchen, etc. The other two hang out together but Alex doesn't join them very often.
DeleteThat isn't birth order, though, which is Harry, Spencer, Alex. :)
I'll take all the hugs I can get...thank you...feeling the need for hugs lately.
Sweet photo.
ReplyDeleteI can see their personalities in each face.
They were sweet even back then! :)
DeleteOh I was right...before I read the caption, I just knew that was Alex. What dolls. I need to organize pictures...I have the drawers done, but I have bags and boxes of pictures I really need to go through. I know I'll find some of those old pictures that will melt my heart too.
ReplyDeleteI need to do the same thing! Most of my photo need to be scanned and they are in boxes, too! It seems like a monumental job. Will probably take a year. ha.
DeleteBetsy this snapshot in time is just beautiful ... You're boys are still gorgeous! Time flies on by, so fast doesnt it. I was reminiscing, looking at old photos just recently and I swear photos that were taken 20 years ago, still feels like yesterday to me. Lovely post and I love this song too!
ReplyDeleteTime does fly, doesn't it? I'd like to go back for a little bit and soak up some of that babyness. :)
DeleteThey are absolutely beautiful! And they are still beautiful today. :)
ReplyDeleteI love how they love each other.
I've often thought how glad I am that they have each other. I'm sure it helps them not feel so isolated.
DeleteThey are a treasure, and I'm sure there is a crown waiting for you on the other side.
DeleteI send hugs too.
SO cute!
ReplyDeletethanks, kathy
Deleteno one sick right now...i wrote this a few weeks back...smiles.
ReplyDeleteoh no...you're sounding like Pat. lol.... But it's good nobody is sick!
DeleteAh, great photo! So adorable!
ReplyDeletethanks, yuji! :)
DeleteA glorious photograph Betsy, and one which would grace any sepia collection.
ReplyDeletewell, look at you! What a handsome new avatar!
DeleteAww, they're so cute! They have gorgeous eyes! Like the song too!!
ReplyDeleteI miss them little some times...not all the time, but once in a while! ha.
DeleteThat photo is absolutely precious, Betsy! I love that Harry is sucking his thumb and leaning his head on Alex ... so cute. I too miss the days of Matt's baby/toddler years before the autism was evident. It's so much fun to look through old photos and remember those sweet times ... my photos aren't organized either ... one of these winters I have to make that my project lol!
ReplyDeleteThe project seems daunting! So much has changed in photography and keepsakes that it's amazing. All those days of developing film...triplet prints and storing the negatives. ha. Scanning the photos doesn't sound too fun, either!
DeleteLove the song! Adore the photo! No doubt, seeing that pic of your little guys did stir you deeply. Thanks for sharing. SOOO sweet!
ReplyDeletethanks, dear. :)
DeleteOh my! You should blow that one up to showcase. How sweet it is! I was looking at old photos today too searching for one of me. Took out my husband's college yearbook and there was one of me and him. I cried just like you although totally for different reasons. I was so skinny then! :)
ReplyDeleteIt would be a good one to make a large print from! I should put it on my To Do list!
DeleteOh they ARE cuties alright! I remember them at this age BIG TIME! How can they be SOOOOOO old now??
ReplyDeleteI know! Where does the time go?
DeleteBetsy they are so adorable. I know what you mean how it brings tears to your eyes, it's hard to see them grow up, when you look at those beautiful photos you miss them being little guys :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Ronda! Thanks for visiting! Yes, it's amazing how quickly time flies...you blink and your babies are adults!
DeleteBetsy .. can quite see why you cried .. they're adorable and I love the photo .. thanks Hilary
ReplyDeletethanks, hilary!
DeleteOh Betsy, one can easily see, why this beautiful photo shakes your emotions so much! There are your three fair haired and wide eyed boys, looking so perfectly healthy and beautiful. At the time of this photo a future full of every opportunity must have seemed to lie before your sweet little boys. And then this word autism must have crashed into your family. Of course they remained your wonderful children, but it also became clear, that theirs (and yours) would not be an easy lot. This must have been a great pain to you. I hope this doesn´t sound wrong or offensive(it´s not so easy to express feelings in a foreign language), but I just want to say, that I have been admiring you ever since I have been following your blog for your braveness spirit, humour, positiveness and that I sometimes can still imagine, how much strength all this requires. Thank God, you seem to have a lot of it and also thank God, that these very special three boys came into the shelter of your family!
ReplyDeleteWith my very best wishes to all of you
Christel
Well, Christel, you wrote that beautifully! You captured my feelings exactly. I do have weeks, even m onths of wonderful days and then crash with sadness and a sense of loss at what my boys will never be. I suppose that's life with a disabled child...a roller coaster of emotions. Thank God he is there to provide strength and encouragement in many forms....even your comment today is a great encouragement to me! Thank you!
DeleteDear Betsy, I am glad for you, that you got a strong belief in God that surely helps you to overcome many troubles! But isn´t it also one of the rare benefits of getting older, that one has experienced hundreds of times before, that bright hours, days, weeks can indeed follow after dark times?! When I was young, I always believed every catastrophe and unhappiness to be the final state of affairs and also of my mind. But then I learnt that neither the world nor my mood would stay unchangeable forever and that indeed already the next day might be a good one. So this also gives me great confidence nowadays.
ReplyDeleteA relaxed and peaceful weekend to you and your family
Christel
Oh, yes...what a wise woman you are! True happiness doesn't depend on our circumstances at all! We can always find a silver lining, choose to make the best of it and see what beautiful thing God can bring about when everything seems hopeless. What's that verse about tears in the night, but joy comes in the morning? The sun always shines after the rain. :)
