Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar

Well, it's December!
Do you enjoy advent calendars?  Jacquie Lawson offers a great interactive advent calendar on her website.
I enjoyed her first one last year so much that I downloaded her new one today!
The one last year, which is still available, featured London, with Big Ben chiming on the hour,
double decker buses passing by, and lovely ships on the River Thames.
This year features a town square somewhere in The Alps!
It only costs $3 and it's yours to use each year.  It's great for adults as well as kids.
I love the fact that whenever you click on it, it is day or night according to your own time zone.
Even the moon phase is correct. And it makes a lovely screen saver!
Spencer did day 1 with me today and we also did an interactive puzzle.
If I had to recommend a choice, I'd say London, but that might not be fair
since I've only seen the first day of The Alps. :)
But since I still have the London one, I can enjoy both!
You can also send them as gifts and there is a discount on multiples.

    1. I will keep the snow here
where near my heart it is kept near.
      Lovely little flakes
makes it beat at a faster rate!
      And if you were here
I'd strike in you some fear,
      starting a snow ball fight
      that would surely cause fright.
      hahaha!

You say that because none is near
When it comes by the ton
Then we'll see if you sing the same tune under your sun

Oh and a snowball fight you say
The cat fights back during that display haha

  8. Dear Betsy, happy Sunday to you.;) Actually advent calendars are fairly common and can be bough in every shape and size through out the holidays here in Scandinavia. Some even come with chocolate inside the windows.;) Advent is very much celebrated here and we have advent wreaths and advent children shows on TV.;))
So a very happy 1st of advent to you from a very cold and snowy Denmark.;))
    xoxo

    1. Happy Sunday, Zuzana! Cold and snowy there? Sounds lovely. I wouldn't mind a little snow! Advent calendars are very popular here, too...but an interactive one online is something fairly new...and it's wonderful!

    2. I can't get Day 2 to work either the snowball doesn't get bigger. Grand kids are very disappointed. They loved the London Calendar's make a snowflake page. I have a MAC is it working on PC's? reetree@optonline.net

    3. I had trouble with the snowball at first but I was trying to click my mouse and hold it down. It worked for me if I clicked and released the mouse button and went in circles. Maybe that's what you are doing? I have Windows7.

  11. Is anyone else having trouble with the animation for December 2 on the Alpine Calendar? December 1 (the toy shop) worked fine for me, but when I click December 2, all I get is a blank screen. I've tried restarting the computer, uninstalling and reinstalling the application, and all the other things recommended on the JL web site, to no avail.

    1. Where you build a snowman? I didn't have any trouble. Sorry! I hope it works for you because it was a lot of fun!

    2. The message on the village scene says that it's supposed to be about building a snowman, but when I click the ornament, I just get a blank screen. All of the recommended troubleshooting steps have failed. Arggh! Guess I'll wait and see what happens on December 3. I had a JL advent calendar last year, and it worked perfectly.

    3. Oh, that is frustrating. The only other idea I have is that you go into the cottage and click on the snowman. Maybe you can get in that way. If not, I'd just wait until tomorrow. Good luck!

    4. Thanks for the suggestion! I tried it and... got the blank screen again. Maybe there is a bug in the Mac version of the app? Guess I need to be patient until tech support comes back online. Thanks again.

  12. A cousin of mine sent me the Advent Calendar -figuring it would be something my grandkids would very much enjoy. However, I can't load it to my computer. Why? Because I have Windows 7 and it won't work with that system. Drats! I was very much looking forward to seeing it and showing the kids then too how to work with it. Just a darned shame I had to have the wrong system although I would have thought Jacquie Lawson's site would have prepared for this aspect of computer life.

    1. I have Windows7! I didn't have any trouble downloading or using it this year or last! You should look at their troubleshooting link and see if you need to download Adobe9 or something.
