I wanted to give boxes full of Christmas cookies for some gifts
this year! Here's how I did it....
First of all, I started early
with my baking. Around Halloween, to be exact, and put
one kind of cookie in the freezer each week.
I bought clear storage boxes with hinged lids, cut parchment
paper to line the bottoms and printed off a label and used a
craft stamp to finish off the look.
A day or two before delivery, I pulled everything from the freezer
and arranged the cookies in the boxes.
Finish off with pretty ribbon.
Then the fun part comes...playing Christmas Elf and
delivering the goodies to ones you love.
My boxes went to bosses and coworkers, teachers, aides,
Sunday School helpers, and our attorney.
Nineteen in all.
A pretty, yet affordable, gift!
So fun!
~~~~~~
Remember me talking about Christmas bloopers like
tree lights not working and burnt crusts?
I had a few doing these boxes! lol.....
First, I got to the stage of filling the boxes with cookies
and realized my labels were missing the Lemon Sugar
Cookies. ha. Had to reprint, restamp and reattach.
Second, my dear Alex sneaked and ate all of the peppermint
bark from three of the boxes while I was out one evening.
Fortunately I noticed and fortunately I had just enough
extra to fill the empty spots again.
It always pays to have a little more than you need! :)
~~~~~~
How are you coming along on any Christmas prep?
I'm happy to report that my shopping, decorating and
baking is done! The only thing left on my list is
the gift wrapping, and for once I'm not going to
grumble as I throw it together very late on
Christmas Eve. haha. Much better!
♥
a job well done, Betsy! They look great!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Martha! I'm glad they are done and delivered! But it was fun doing them!
DeleteLook beautiful Betsy and Im amazed all yours cookiesyou made:))
ReplyDeleteWell, I sure wouldn't want to make them all at once! ha. Starting early made it fun.
DeleteI find really beatiful Betsy:)
Deletethanks, dear....it feels good to have all that baking done. I'm sure you know how I feel..when you have a big kitchen baking project to do! I can relax now a little bit!
Deleteyou are so organized , the selection of cookies are beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteIt was that Organized Christmas! It made me get started early! :)
DeleteWhat a wonderful gift, and they look so pretty! I've got some baking and little wrapping to go.
ReplyDeleteWe've been hiding gifts in The Mister's car trunk and I keep forgetting to have him bring them inside so I can wrap! Every day when he's gone I think I should wrap gifts and they aren't here! lol....
DeleteWOW! What a beautiful and very thoughtful gift. And, no doubt delicious.
ReplyDeleteWell, I thought so...I hope everyone else did, too! And...I'm glad it's done! ha.
Deleteoh wow...i love your snow flake on top....and great mix of goodies in there.....i LOVE peppermint bark too....mmm....some good tastes...smiles.
ReplyDeletethanks, brian...peppermint bark, huh? See, you really are my twin. ;)
DeleteYou both are lovely twins lol
Deletewhy thanks, gloria! :)
DeleteWell...
ReplyDeleteAren't you a smart cookie...ha ha ha :o)
They look beautiful, and I am sure the recipients will be very happy with them...
I still need to do my shortbread cookies...and wrapping...and a few last minute gifts...
I think Saturday will be a day to tackle the cookies and wrapping..
That is so funny about Alex sneaking a few for himself...boys will be boys...
Have a great evening Betsy...and for the love of god..
PUT YOUR FEET UP!!!
Think I'll crochet a scarf out of the ends of wool for my daughters retreiver Lola...
How cool would that be???
Cheers!
Linda :o)
haha...my feet are up, so to speak. It's a good feeling to get those done.
DeleteI'm sure your shortbread is wonderful...it's one of my favorites!
I've been known to hide food from Alex. haha.
I think Lola is one lucky dog! How cute will that be??
Wow you went right to town
ReplyDeleteDeserve the baking cookie crown
Along with your crazy cat lady one
As you baked a ton
And haha to the bloopers too
Alex just wanted to taste test for you
All done you say
Now you have caught my bay
Of course you have more
To do at your shore
the cookie crown doesn't make me frown
Deleteand yes, it goes well with the cat lady crown
and the Dr. Doolittle title all around. ha
Yes, caught up to you
at your zoo
but a little bit late
as you were first place!
I am very bad at getting things all done ahead of time. I am more like a "Last-Minute-Martha". I think if I had large amounts of free time or less stressed days I might learn how to be more prepared.
ReplyDeleteToo funny about Alex. At least he didn't clean the whole box out or sneak one under his bed for midnight snacks. :)
I really have to watch that Alex! He lives for food! haha.
DeleteThese look amazing and I love love love that you call them Russian Tea Cakes! Everyone always has a different name for that cookie! I just made ours last night and I'm kicking myself for leaving them all at my Mom's...so good.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Erin! You made them last night? Oh, I love them! At least they are easy enough that you can make some again just for you. :)
DeleteIt's so nice to have so many people to give to.
ReplyDeleteAll my family live far and I am not one to go out a lot
except with my son and husband so this limits the social activities.
I hope to remedy this in the future.
Just cause the kids grow up doesn't mean everything fun has to stop lol
Gotta keep livin!
Well, none of these went to family!
DeleteBut with the boys still in school and needing help at church, that does add in a bunch of people we want to thank! We've given to all of our neighbors before, and that's fun, too!
Wow, these cookies are amazing! So beautiful, and what a great variety! I now see how your early start on Christmas preparations have paid off with these cookies alone.
ReplyDeleteYes! Not sure I'll do the cookie variety for gifts next year, but starting early made this not only easy, but enjoyable. It would not have been fun to try to do it all over a weekend. haha.
DeleteI'm with Alex eating these gorgeous cookies!!! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Yeah, can hardly blame him, right? :)
Deleteyour cookie gifts look amazing! Wish I was on your list!
ReplyDeletewell, I wish you were, too! :)
DeleteOh to get one of those boxes! Your lucky, blessed friends probably look forward to those all year!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!
***Sneakily eating peppermint bark out of three containers - hilarious!
s
He is hilarious...and sure keeps me on my toes!
DeleteLovely! And I bet the recipients were very touched and thankful, especially if they had had no time to make goodies yet!
ReplyDeleteI hope you liked yours!
DeleteIf i'd been there you would have also been missing the Chocolate Crinkle's. haha.
ReplyDeleteThese gifts are the best kind cause they are the heart and soul of Christmas. Exactly what Christmas giving is all about. I know each and everyone appreciated them. Esp...Alex. :)
I like that you had a goal, shared it with us and we could watch, as you accomplished each step.
ReplyDeleteWay to go!
(you win the Best Gift award)
