I had a throw pillow with sticky fingerprints on it and threw the
slip cover into the wash. I thought the pillow smelled a little
stale, so I threw it into the washer, too.
A short cycle on 'gentle' shouldn't hurt it.
ha. I came back to a washer full of shredded stuffing! LOL!
It was fluffy and clean so I let it dry there over night.
This morning, it was fresh and really to be put back
into the pillow. Now I just need to stitch up the hole
that evidently ripped open during the washing!. Sigh. :)
But I can say it's been cleaned inside and out! haha.
Maybe a bit of spring cleaning done a little early!
♥
A fresh-ly fluffed pillow :)
ReplyDeleteverrrry fluffy! haha.
Deletehaha you sure go all out with your cleaning
ReplyDeleteShould your pillow could pass any ocd screening

Deleteyou are so calm and capable...this would've been a disaster for me!
ReplyDeletehaha...well, if you'd lived with my boys for 19 years, you would have laughed and ran to get your camera, too! lol.....I think I did let out a little "Ack!" when I first saw it, though! hahahaha....
DeleteWashing pillows can be exciting. Glad it worked out so you didn't lose your stuffing!! Now that sounds like Thanksgiving, not spring cleaning. HaHa.
ReplyDeleteexciting..yes, that's one way of looking at it! hahahaha!
Deletewhat a mess! At least you could put it back in though so you saved the day! er, pillow!
ReplyDeleteyes...at least a cat didn't shake it all through the house! haha.
DeleteThis has to one of your funniest .... and most resourceful!!!
ReplyDeleteit was pretty funny...after the initial shock! ha.
DeleteOMG!! That happened to me. But it was a down queen sized pillow. Man there were feathers everywhere.
ReplyDeleteI did the same thing and let them dry and then the next day made a throw cushion.
oh my....that is a little bit bigger! haha. Glad you could salvage it! At least it's contained in a washer!
DeleteHow I wish I had taken of picture of my washing machine after I washed a Koosh pillow. Actually, I had washed three at once, and it wasn't the first time. It was just the first time I was literally afraid I had ruined my washing machine. I didn't want any photo evidence of the crime to help incriminate me. I vacuumed miniscule Styrofoam pellets out of my washer for days.

Taylor has a koosh pillow that I was all the time! Hmmm...maybe I'll rethink that. ha.
Deleteoh Betsy, you are funnier than Jay Leno, love the cleaned inside and out part
ReplyDeleteonly me, right? oh dear...
DeleteOy! The projects are never done, are they?
ReplyDeleteat least this one had a happy ending. lol...
Deletelol...at least it is clean now eh? smiles...ha....how many can say they have clean pillows inside and out....now how long will they stay that way?
ReplyDeletethis one better stay that way a good long while! ha.
DeleteI looked at the picture and thought "Oh my word, Betsy laundered a goose" hee hee
ReplyDeleteShhh....don't tell anyone...it's the Thanksgiving turkey. It's easier than plucking those feathers one by one. hahahahaaaaa!
Deleteoh dear--poor fellow lol
DeleteOh don't worry...he wasn't alive. This wasn't like throwing a lobster in a steamy pot. lol...
Delete:)
DeleteThat's one way to wash a pillow!
Lifting the lid and discovering that must have been a surprise!
ReplyDeleteThat must have been a wild spin cycle. Ha!
verrry wild! ;)
DeleteDon't tell me... Ikea! ;) How are you, Betsy? I hope you're doing fine.
ReplyDeleteI've had to rebuild my blog from scratch (don't ask) and my new address is www.thebluegrumpster.blogspot.com.
RCB
No...Laura Ashley! hahaha.
Deletenew blog? I'll be right over! :)
Laura Ashley! You should send them a letter, Betsy!
DeleteI should! :)
DeleteYou are so good natured about it!!
ReplyDeleteMary x
so much easier to laugh...and it was fixable! lol....
DeleteLOL! Now, that's what I'd call a thorough cleaning!!
ReplyDeleteBetsy I have to wash some pillows but Im afraid now LOL
ReplyDeleteLove the bird in your header is sooo cute!!
me, too! hahaha!
DeleteIsn't that little bird cute? I love that color.
OK, one day my neighbor came over and was laughing so hard she could barely form sentences. Apparently the pillow I had put into the dryer after I had washed it had exploded and feathers were flying out all over the lawn from the dryer vent. Buster was covered with them when he came in. LOL (o:
ReplyDeletenow that is the most hilarious thing I've ever heard! SO funny!
DeleteWhat a mess! It obviously didn't phase you though.
ReplyDeleteit was a contained mess, thankfully! :)
DeleteHi Betsy,
ReplyDeleteI hope you are all having a nice dinner. I think most of us have had a pillow disaster in our washing machines. I think feathers kept showing up in the clothes for a few weeks. Regular stuffing might not have been so bad. You are the pillow superhero with such a calm reaction.
God bless.
I was out having a nice dinner! It's always nice to add to the family and get to know them better! And the food was yummy, too! :)
DeleteBetsy, this post made me giggle big time, hihi.;) I have just started a gentle cycle with a dark and white sweater, hoping the dark has been washed enough time by hand so it would not stain. And shrink.;) (It is hand wash only;) So we will see what will greet me in a about 20 minutes.;)
ReplyDeleteSorry for my absence, have been living my life am still amazed how in the world you manage 5 men and blogging.;)
Have a great Sunday,
xoxo
haha...well, I hope the sweater is fine! :) I know you're loving your happy busy life...and I'm so happy for you! xo
DeleteI am giggling too like Zuzana up there. I have tried this with pillows before too. They come out lumpy and bumpy and are just never the same again it seems. And, I'm going to need an army of pillows for Xmas this year...oiy!
ReplyDeleteCan I come for Christmas? :) I promise to help and won't complain about lumpy pillows. ha.
DeleteI want to see the before and after.....
ReplyDeleteWell, I didn't take a before photo, because I didn't know it was going to turn into a funny story! haha.
DeleteWashing machine anecdotes... I'll bet there's a book in that...! I've known some really amazing things that have happened in -- or on -- a washing machine.
