Simply Darling

The theme at Creative Tuesdays this week is Simply Cute or Simply Darling.
I'd actually never heard the phrase 'simply cute' before!  I usually say
'too cute' or 'so cute' or even 'simply adorable'.  Be that as it may, I suppose they all mean the same thing.
And baby birds napping under mushrooms are just 'too cute',
wouldn't you say? They're even 'simply adorable'! :)

  3. It is simply darling, adorable, too cute...so cute...and simply adorable...
    Does that sum it up???
I wonder that little birdie is dreaming about?
They say, that birds dream about what song they will sing the next day...
Perhaps it is " I'm so cute..do you want to hear me tweet"
Hope your son is feeling better...I have some awesome pics of my zucchinis from the weekend...

    Cheers!
    Linda :o)

I have my first little zucchini sprouting from the bloom. It's probably 3 inches long. I'll come and see yours...do you ever stuff the blossoms? I have never, but they sound intriguing to me!

  10. Not only is that bird adorable indeed, but I'd like to know how you got an expression like that on the face of a creature with a beak! Amazing!

And speaking of "amazing," I love the Bruno Mars song mentioned in your sidebar. Reminds me of someone special to me. Very much.

    1. he does seem to have an attitude, doesn't he? lol....I think having his nose in the air adds to the expression. :)

You like that song, too? I think it's so cute...speaking of 'so cute' :)

    2. I love that song, yes! One of the very few love songs -- including one that I wrote -- which doesn't contain the word "love"!

And continuing on the subject of "so cute," I see that your sidebar photo of yourself is that relatively recent one that I love so much! Anyone ever tell you that those bangs of yours are really sexy?

  11. Nothing like some cool shade in this heat today. I would add "too cute with an attitude"..how do you do that. Just love the expression his little face.

Sorry to hear Harry is ill ~ sure hope he feels better soon and back in the pool.

    1. no pool today, but he is acting more like himself. He did a lot of sleeping the last few days, which made it easier on everyone. haha.

Our heat wave broke today and even though the temps reached 89, it felt 20 degrees cooler without the humidity! So wonderful!

  12. Definitely has cuteness taking a short siesta in the shade.
I wonder if a worm could be added perhaps on the other side,
as if hiding, and peering out of the ground at the snoozing bird.

  13. Aww all resting beneath the mushroom shield
    Out in some field
    Peace at last
From the cats at your zoo that are vast
And never heard simply cute either at my sea
But simpy darling, even though I may cringe, has been heard by me

    1. No, you're not a simply darling kind of guy
more like a triple strat with a sigh.
      lol.

      Delete
    2. we should start calling Cat the Pat "Dear" and "darling", it might cause him some amusing fits!

      Delete
    3. haha the triple strat works for me
And a flibo too at my sea
And Dez if you want to start with the dear
That can be played with my rhyming rear

      Delete
    4. haha...I've called him dear and honey, too.
There wasn't a fit that I did view.
But if you were to do it
      that might cause a fit
and he might not like it one bit!

    5. oh, dear, oh, dear, shall we call him dear and make him sweat in fear?

  14. Very cute indeed betsy. A tiny cute bird at that. Yes, siimply cute or.darling are both made up to get the point across.

  16. I agree Betsy, little birds are cute in general, we had a couple baby robins bopping about on the front grass the other day, I tried to take a pic, but I guess I didn't zoom in enough as the birds are very hidden. The notion of adding the big mushroom was a great idea and a nice touch, adding that extra bit of cute. Great job. Thanks

  18. Perhaps its a Brit thing. Anyway, despite not having heard the phrase before, you have interpreted it perfectly.

  19. if the birdy is lucky enough, the Smurfs might let her in for a cup of shroom tea :)

  23. Really digging the napping birdie under the mushroom. I always look forward to seeing how you might have used a bird in your art... love the surprise of it!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I tell ya, if I could draw like you, Betsy, I'd draw baby birds napping under mushrooms all the time. And poo-lovin' cats, of course - in which case the mushroom would need to be really big. :))

    ReplyDelete
  25. Too cute! It's a pity the relative size of birds and toadstools round here is not quite like that.... All our birds would be looking for an umbrella to shelter from the never-ending rain!

    ReplyDelete

    1. where are those huge red mushrooms with the white spots? They are big enough for a bird to take shelter! Not in the USA or GB I'm guessing! ha.

  28. He's really cute! If he were real I'd want to put him in one hand and gently pet his head with the other. And then he'd get bored and fly off, as birds can sometimes do :-D Very pretty line and color work, this piece makes me happy.

  29. So so cute Betsy! He looks very happy sitting there without a care in the world.
