We've spent a lot of time playing with Jack the last few days and making sure he's comfortable and getting used to things around here.
- Here's Marmalade at the first sound of a tiny terrified kitten calling for his mom. He has since calmed down and taken on the role he does so well of being the big brother.
- Charcoal's first look. There was lots of sniffing! ha. But then acceptance.
- Here he is with Whiskers learning how to drink water from a bowl. I could tell he'd never done that! And after he rooted with his mouth and kneaded with his paws all up and down my body to see if I had milk to give him, I went out and bought him some for kittens! ha. The main thing was to get him healthy. He looks so much better in just 3 days! Not as dehydrated and has gained a couple of ounces!
- I put a little basket under my desk by my feet and he hopped right in. It's his favorite place to nap. In fact, he's there now as I type up this post! Aw.
But this is what he usually looks like...on the go and exploring.
I think he's going to fit in just fine!
He even looks like the other 5 black and white cats! ha.
♥
smiles....fun to see the others reacting to him...all the sniffing...yeah that is par for the course and i am glad they are getting along...our two have a love hate truce going on...they act like real brothers and sisters...ha.
ReplyDeletehaha...I kept thinking of Pst's Cassie trying to get rid of Orlin! lol. Thankfully that hasn't happened yet. lol...
DeleteLOL did they try to flush him down the loo?
Deletehaha that may not be so true
But she did hate his guts quite a bit
And it was six months before she saw him more than an it
I think Brian needs to share more stories there.
DeleteSounds like they might give Cassie and Orlin some competition! ha.
Im sure he is soo comfortable there I love how he learned with the others boys haha. Lol
ReplyDeletehe's been so much fun!
DeleteLove the pictures:))
ReplyDeletethanks, dear. How are you? Do you feel better?
DeleteYes thanks. And you how you feel Betsy?
DeleteI'm much better today! Just took it easy today, too, and didn't do much work. :)
DeleteNice Betsy you have to take care and dont forget drink water:)
ReplyDeleteyes...good idea! :)
DeleteI ate too much today! haha. Sunday seems to be that way since I make brunch.
The water is good when we are sick dear; and you ate a lot. ??
DeleteSo you are better! Lol
Much better. Sore throat is gone, too. :)
DeleteOh just darling pictures...Jack in the Basket has a nice ring to....Now if you had a box under your desk it would be different story. HaHa.
ReplyDeleteMaybe, if Jon ever outgrows his allergies, I will get another kitten.
When you mentioned the kneading up and down your body it brought back the memories of Manana our big white cat, that would wake me every morning with the kneading action, and then a pat on my cheek...those work my working days, and she was my alarm clock...I do miss that.
Oh, that's a cute story. jack's been waking up at 5:00. A bit too early for me! haha. Hopefully that will change as he gets bigger. He's been so much fun. Manana sounds like she was a beautiful cat!
DeleteShe was...probably weighed 20 pounds ~ Long hair, but kept herself spotless and she and Figgy our big grey and white cat were indoor outdoor. I never had litter boxes, they always let me know when they needed out. I have a picture somewhere... I'll have to look for it. I always love to see them sleeping in a square of sunshine on the bed. Now Molly sometimes does the same.
DeleteOh, how sweet. :) We had a big black cat, Teddy, that did the same...never wanted a litter box. I love how they find the patch of sun. :)
DeleteSweet seeing them all get used to each other!
ReplyDeleteIt's been funny to see the hisses turn to kisses. haha.
DeleteLOL it is always fun to see the reactions of the others
ReplyDeleteAnd Marmy is like WTF I already have enough sisters and brothers
Then I suppose he thinks what is one more
And now is fine with him at his shore
He sure does seem to like to explore
Prob hasn't seen anything like what he did when you opened the door
And let him in
Even putting milk in his bin
And another as you type
May soon have to just let your arms give up and use Skype haha
Oh, Marmy was a mess for about 15 minutes. Good grief. ha. And yes, pets, get spoiled here...even get special milk if they need it.
DeleteSkype? haha...now that might be fun.
You just want to see them behind me run!
lol...
You could set up one of those kitty cam things at your zoo
DeleteAnd stick it on the side of your blog for all to view
Love Jack in his little basket....Sweet!
ReplyDeleteWe also have a new addition.... :o)
Cheers!
Linda :o)
You do??? Oh, how fun...coming over to see....
DeleteLinda's grand baby? Oh, she's adorable! Did you go take a look?
DeleteJack is beautiful, sort of like the cat form of a Boston Terrier. Bugsy would like him!
ReplyDeletehaha...that is true!
DeleteI just adopted one just like Jack about 5 weeks ago. I named him Oreo. My fiance wanted to get rid of him (and we even argued over it), because he was so skittish and ran away from us and the other cat, Tiger. Now he has fit right in and guess who he likes the most? Yep, the fiance, who now adores him. (You have to give the wild ones some time.)
ReplyDeleteNext, about 2 weeks ago I took in a beautiful cat I have named Cleopatra because of her large, green eyes. She was emaciated. I took her to the vet and had her spayed, and she has gained all of her strength back and is doing well.
I like the looks of your cats. All appear healthy and well-kept. Great job.
Jeremy, I guess I didn't realize you had cats...and not only that, but took in the needy ones! ha. We must be kindred spirits. Love the story of the fiance being the one that ends up attached. So cute. Cleopatra sounds lovely!
DeleteI have named two of our cats Oreo and Tiger, too! :)
I think this little one would not have been so easily accepted if he was bigger. He's just so tiny that he didn't seem to be threatening to take over their territory. It's a totally different story when a big tom wanders in the yard.
I can not believe that your cats have accepted the new kitty so easily. Usually cats are very suspicious of their own kind. I know my friend had a cat and got a new kitten and had to keep the cats apart for weeks before the old cat accepted the kitten, they never became friends though.;)
ReplyDeleteLove all the images, it is like seeing Sammy when he was a kitten.;)
xoxo
jack does look so much like Sammy! How fun! :) Yes, they really have gotten along well. A bit of hissing now and then, but I think that's just to make sure everyone knows the rank and status. haha.
DeleteOh wonderful Jack!! Awww how adorable! Love the pics of him exploring!! Enjoy your new family, lovely Jack! Take care
ReplyDeletex
Hi Kitty...need to come over and see how Charlie is doing! Hope all is well.
DeleteJust a big honkin' smile going on here. =D
ReplyDeletehaha..me, too!
DeleteBetsy you are truly and well the kitty Kat angel, you really are, lucky Jack.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks. Who knew! ha.
DeleteAw, that's one lucky kitty! He looks like he's fitting right in.
ReplyDeleteHe's been a lot of fun. The others at this age were still with their moms and taught to mistrust us. He sure is a bundle of energy now that he has his strength back. lol....
DeleteNow you know I just could not pass up the fact that every Captain should have a pet named "Jack". Arrrg, Matey, LOL. It does sound like a good name for him and he is so cute. Possibly the others just think he is another cat from their Mom's litters and do think he is related. But it does just show how much love and trust that you have given to them that they are willing to share it with a new kitten. All of them were very blessed when they boarded your ship.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see that you are feeling better. Gloria is right about drinking lots of water. The Vitamin waters are good, they help with your energy.
God bless..
hahaha...now, I just need to name something Sparrow, right? hahaha.
Deleteboarded my ship...don't think I didn't catch that little phrase, either. lol....
That little Jack is a sweetheart!
ReplyDeleteHe really is. He's my shadow. I can't get anything done! ha.
DeleteYeah, Jack does look like the other cats! Marmalade's the one that doesn't fit in!
ReplyDeletehaha...that is SO true. But I love the way he stands out in the group. :)
DeleteBetsy:
ReplyDelete1) I love your pic with JacK whn I see I would love have a cat again (dont tell Esperanza)LOL
2) I mail you,
3) Love the triplets picture of course make me reminder the twins haha but I has to little bed like yours:)
x
haha...oh Esperanza would make you get one if she knew! ha.
DeleteSweet little thing! You are treating him like a Prince!
ReplyDeletehe's just too fun not to spoil! And you know who is smitten? Taylor! :)
DeleteHow very sweet this little kitten has a home. I like the idea of the basket at your feet. He's going to become rather accustom to you being there. My doxie is right here by my desk in her little bed everyday when I'm at the computer. Ironically, I posted about her as you've posted about Jack.
ReplyDeleteOh, great minds..haha...I'll come visit your posts later this evening. I'm up to my elbows in sweet corn, zucchini and blueberries. ha.
DeleteLove the look on Marmalade's face! And Jack is so cute in the basket : )
ReplyDeleteMarmy had a rough few moments there. lol....
DeleteCute kits- they seem to be all getting along. I have one- I don't know if I could handle more!
ReplyDeletethanks, Terri! The do get alone surprisingly well! But they are usually outside and have lots of personal space. Although, they seem to love each other and cuddle together. I'm sure it helps that they are all from just 2 litters. They truly are all sisters and brothers.
DeleteHow can you NOT love that little thing?!
ReplyDeleteI can't! ha.
DeleteOh Betsy, you are so sweet to take in all those little kitties and your house appears to stay so clean. You are such a loving person!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your side bar comment about the boys closing their eyes and thinking that they are disappearing...I sometimes do that too!
Well, they really are outside cats and spend 95% of their time there. There is usually 1 or 2 that want to stay inside at night and that is fine. I think only one time did we have all 8 inside over night and that was last week on one of those horribly hot and humid nights. They sprawled out on the cold ceramic tiles in the kitchen and cooled down. They looked dead. lol...I should have taken a photo...you had to step over them to walk through. haha.
Deleteseems like Jack got used to your home quickly :)
ReplyDeleteI have three orphan kittens too, their mother was hit by a car when they were only a month old, so I spent last two months feeding them and parenting them. They are all fine and big now.
I'd quite like (just) one to adopt me. It must feel good to see him getting stronger and happier. Aw.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad he's found a new home and seems to be settling in quite nicely. My dog, Star, always wants to lay right at my feet...wherever they are. She's big enough to trip over though. :)
