A Gift

The theme at Creative Tuesdays this week is gift.
This little Barn Swallow is helping with all the little details to make this gift
look extra special!  Every once in a while, I really like how my drawing
turns out and this is one of those times.  Last week?  Not so much!
I think it's the color this time around!
I have no idea how someone with a sunny disposition can love
grey so much, but I do.  I paint it on my walls, I color with it,
I wear grey eye shadow,  even half of my clothes are grey! lol.
I might just have to frame this one and put it in my grey and white kitchen. ha.

We're celebrating 'gift' all day on Tuesday, the 19th.

Better yet, why don't you join in the fun?
No talent required...you can doodle, paint or create.

    great minds....
but, back to the drawing, I love it - with the ribbon and bird, too!

  13. I love everything about it...the bird, the hearts and daisies. I agree with the others, that the yellow and green splashes add so much. The first thing I thought when I saw this, was that it would make a great gift tag for one of your baskets. Do you make your own tags for them?

    1. Oh, that's an idea! You know, I'm down to the last of my business cards. Something along this line would be cute...maybe I could design them myself? I'll have to think on that. Maybe replace the present with a basket of goodies.

  14. such a beautiful piece! Love the idea of the bird decorating the box, it has such motion and heart! Re Liszt - good on you to get that far LOL Rachmaninof was the hardest I got to! So cool that you studied that peice!

  15. Helping out at your hall
Such a nice swallow I hope he doesn't get a cat call
And left as a present himself
On the floor of your shelf
That would be ironic I suppose
    And cause ocd woes
But that is the way life goes
And grey doesn't have to brings lows
As there is something to be said for grey
In there you can poke around and have fun all day
    So grey can work
    And be a perk

    ReplyDelete
  16. Oh those cats do bring the gifts
    and think they're really hip.
    Only robins so far
and no swallows to give me a jar.
    That would be just eew
    but that you already knew!
Still the squirrel was the worst varmint
    laying there on the carpet.
Made me let out a little squeal.
    I'm sure I sounded like a seal.
    hahahaha

    1. LMAO sounded like a sea
      Oh that is just unreal
Would have laughed quite a bit at that
Glad mine are an indoor cat
      So no presents come due
And yep once more Flappy on cue
      Here at stinkin work
      As I sit and lurk
But the last date she has booked here
So hopefully I will no longer have to hear her flapping in my ear
      At least until fall
      Here at my work hall

    2. You would let out a squeal
if a dead, wet, baby squirrel was on your carpet for real.
Don't tell me that you wouldn't
even though as a guy you shouldn't
because it would just slip out
and then you could go and pout.
After you disposed of the thing, of course.
It's better than screaming until you are hoarse!

    3. Bah i wouldnt do that
Be a blah or a wtf from Pat
      Maybe an ewww
Not as bad as Ernest used to do
      But still pretty bad
      Again indoors makes me glad

      Delete
    4. yes, there are advantages to the indoors
only the occasional fly that soars.
      hahaha.
Have a post ready to go soon
that is the saga of the june bug.
      It's an indoor affair
and many cats stop to watch at my lair.
      hahaha

  20. totally agree with Janice above. you really do and this is no exception. LOL, funny you like this one better than last week whereas for me it was the other way around on my own stuff. As it is, Betsy, this is so charming. Love the story behind it. I think it is one of your best not just from colour but the composition/layout of the individual elements breaking up the white space so well. Dainty too. LOVE IT!! TY!!

  24. Betsy, I love this piece. The scene itself reminds me of the early scene in snow white, the cartoon of course. I love the details, and the wonderful whitespace, as it has such an opening effect yet still draws the focus to the action itself. Awesome piece. thanks
